Carlisle United fans' trip to five countries to see Morecambe victory
The trip to Lancashire is among the shortest on the Blues' calendar, but some of United's hardy travelling supporters decided to extend it…and then some.
They journeyed from Cumbria to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Wales before arriving back in England in time for the Blues' 2-0 victory on Saturday, which completed a memorable five-day tour.
The trip started last Tuesday morning when the supporters travelled from Penrith to Carlisle, then to Cairnryan on the Wigtownshire coast in Dumfries and Galloway.
From there it was the ferry to Belfast, where they stayed until Thursday before heading south to Dublin.
Friday then saw the fans cross the water back to Holyhead on the Isle of Anglesey in Wales, before sailing to Liverpool for their final night before the journey up to Morecambe.

The trip was organised by Carlisle United's Away Travel group (CUSAT) who run regular travel to away games and also organise a few trips with a difference over the course of most seasons.
Photographer and United fan Barbara Abbott was on the trip and told the News & Star about some of the sights the fans saw along the way, with supporters free to enjoy each destination as they chose.
'The only rule on CUSAT trips is you all turn up the next morning to catch the bus and the last person on will be booed,' said Barbara.
'The rest of the time everyone is free to do their own thing although people on their own are never on their own for long.
'It's a very diverse community but we all have one thing in common to talk about…'

In Belfast the sightseeing included a visit to the Titanic Exhibition, before a trip to the following morning to Giant's Causeway.
'It was lovely going through the countryside,' said Barbara. 'When we got there the lady who greeted us apologised that we were not going to get the full experience of the Giant's Causeway, as a normal day there would see people trailing back up the hill, soaking wet and freezing cold but we were going to miss all that.
'No one in our group complained. The Causeway is somewhere I have wanted to visit for a long time and it didn't disappoint.'
There was also a whisky distillery visit before fans sampled some of the Belfast nightlife, and then on Thursday it was a coach ride to Dublin, where activities included a boat trip on the River Liffey.
The ferry to Holyhead on Friday saw the fifth country, Wales, ticked off, before supporters explored Liverpool.

The gathering attracted curiosity from those the fans encountered along the way, added Barbara. 'We got looks of sympathy or disbelief when we explained to random strangers that we were going to a football match but it all came right on the day.
'We had a fantastic afternoon at the match and a good trip home. Over 800 miles travelled, great company – and a win. What more could we ask for?

Enzo Maresca bemoans two-hour delay that prolonged Chelsea's Club World Cup last 16 tie
Enzo Maresca lamented the delay that saw Chelsea's Club World Cup win over Benfica last over four hours. The Blues set up a quarter-final against Palmeiras as they beat 10-man Benfica 4-1 in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday with what Maresca described as a 'top' performance. Advertisement Chelsea led 1-0 through Reece James's free-kick when, with just four minutes of normal time remaining, the referee signalled the players to leave the pitch due to an adverse weather warning. Following lightning and a thunderstorm, the match restarted after a delay of almost two hours. In stoppage time, Malo Gusto conceded a penalty for a handball which Angel Di Maria scored to force extra time. Benfica had Gianluca Prestianni sent off two minutes into extra time and paid a heavy price as Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall all scored to send Chelsea through to the last eight with an eventually commanding victory. Chelsea: Can Nicolas Jackson play again at Club World Cup after 'stupid' red card?
Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has discovered his punishment for his red card in the 3-1 loss to Flamengo at the Club World Cup. Jackson had been on the pitch for only four minutes in the second half when he was sent off for a nasty studs-up challenge on Ayrton Lucas. Advertisement This being the Senegal international's second red card in his last four matches across all competitions left former Blues midfielder Mikel John Obi in disbelief. Speaking on DAZN after the game, Mikel said: "It's unbelievable, unbelievable. A stupid, stupid, stupid mistake. I don't know what's going through his head. You come into into the game, your team needs to get back into the game, and he does that. "He did that in the [Premier] League game at Newcastle, a very important game where we need to win to qualify for the Champions League [which Chelsea lost]. He got a red card, and now he's done it again. You can't keep making mistakes." The 24-year-old received an automatic one-match suspension, ruling him out of the final group-stage clash against Esperance Sportive de Tunis. Advertisement However, FIFA's disciplinary committee reviewed the incident and deemed it serious foul play and extended the ban. "The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has imposed the following sanction on Chelsea's player Nicolas Jackson who was sent off as a result of a direct red card during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 match between his team and CR Flamengo..." FIFA said in a statement. "(A) 2-match suspension for breach under article 14 paragraph 1 e) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. This decision is final and binding and cannot be appealed." So, as a result of an extended two-match ban, Jackson will also miss Chelsea's potential last-16 tie if they advance. This means he will only feature in the Club World Cup again if the Blues reach the quarter-final.
