MSU target, 3-star DL Nehemiah Kolone to announce college decision on Monday
Nehemiah Kolone of Stillwater, Okla. will announce his college decision on Monday night at 8 p.m. ET. Kolone will be deciding between three finalists: Michigan State, BYU and Oklahoma State.
Kolone is a three-star defensive lineman with a recruiting rating of 86.93 in the 247Sports composite system. He is ranked as the No. 104 defensive lineman and No. 947 overall prospect in the class.
Currently, BYU is the forecasted favorite to land Kolone's commitment. There is one prediction on 247Sports in favor of the Cougars to get Kolone's commitment. But we will find out forsure this evening.

Richardson just finished up an impressive showing in his first career professional action during the NBA Summer League so what's next for him? Richardson posted an Instagram picture on Sunday showing he was back at the Spartans' practice facility with a simple comment about his return to East Lansing, Mich. -- "always home." As a true freshman, Richardson became the Spartans' top player and helped lead them to a Big Ten title and Elite Eight finish in the NCAA Tournament. That strong play resulted in him being selected by the Orlando Magic in the first round of the NBA Draft last month. Former players and those close to the program always talk about how the culture at Michigan State is different from many other places. Former UNC pitcher named amongst ESPN's Top 50 MLB Trade Deadline candidates
Don't be shocked to see this former Diamond Heel on a new MLB team come August. Athletes will struggle, even at the professional level. Just ask Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zac Gallen, the former UNC standout who is mired in the worst season of his MLB career. Gallen, who finished top fiv ive in NL CY Young voting for the 2023 MLB season, currently sports a 7-10 win-loss record with a 5.40 earned run average. Despite striking out 110 batters, good enough for 30th amongst all pitchers, Gallen just gave up six runs in a Saturday loss to the sub-.500 Los Angeles Angels. Sometimes, players just need a change of scenery to rediscover their talent. Such could be the case for Gallen, whom ESPN recently named a Top 50 Trade Deadline Candidate. "Gallen was excellent for the past three seasons but now, in a contract year, is posting career-worst numbers in almost every category," Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan wrote. "His stuff looks similar, but he's allowing much more damage when hitters make contact. That said, his strikeout-to-walk ratio is back to normal in his past five starts, at 29-to-5, despite a 6.04 ERA in that span. Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen said the team does not plan to deal away players at the deadline, but if Arizona doesn't make a run, it could reap a huge return with all its impending free agents." Arizona is in a comfortable spot itself, sitting at .500 and eight games out of first place in the NL West, with a deficit even closer in the wild card race. I'm sure the Diamondbacks want the former Diamond Heel for their playoff push – and they have until July 31 to decide. Gallen compiled a 14-13 win-loss record at North Carolina, compiling a 3.36 ERA and striking out 231 batters. Gallen was part of Arizona's World Series run in 2023, starting Game 1 as its staff ace, then followed that season up with a 14-6 campaign in 2024. Texas A&M to Big Leagues: Former Aggie southpaw called up to Seattle Mariners
After months of impressive outings in MiLB, a former Texas A&M pitcher earned a call-up to Major League Baseball on Monday. Southpaw reliever Brandyn Garcia was bumped up from the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers to the Seattle Mariners. He was selected by the Mariners in the 11th round of the 2023 MLB Draft, following his senior season with the Aggies. In his first season with the High-A Everett AquaSox and Double-A Arkansas Travelers, Garcia recorded a 2.25 ERA with 134 strikeouts in 116.0 innings pitched. His performances on the bump earned him the organization's co-minor league pitcher of the year in 2024. With Garcia being just one of two left-handed relievers and the Mariners bullpen suffering from burnout, the well-earned call-up to the Major Leagues could prove to be beneficial for both parties. The 25-year-old's first appearance on the bump for the Mariners will be his MLB debut. According to MLB Pipeline, Garcia ranks as the top left-handed prospect in the organization and the No. 4 pitching prospect in the system, while also being the No. 13 overall prospect. Through 68 career minor league appearances, he has secured an 11-7 record with seven saves and a 2.49 ERA. Garcia has also struck out 184 hitters and walked just 67, which is good for 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings. Now, he will aim to continue that success at the highest level in baseball with the Mariners organization. Before he put on the Maroon and White uniform for the Aggies, Garcia led Quinnipiac in strikeouts and wins in back-to-back seasons in 2021 and 2022. Before transferring to Texas A&M, the lefty posted a 7.15 ERA with 12 starts in 61.2 innings pitched during his time with the Bobcats. Garcia's numbers improved tremendously with the Aggies in 2023, as he secured a 5.56 ERA with 56 strikeouts in 43.2 innings pitched and one save. His 3-3 overall in 27 appearances helped aid Texas A&M to an NCAA Regional appearance, which the program eventually fell flat against the Stanford Cardinal. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Granby, Connecticut, native translated that improvement on the mound during his senior season to the MiLB. With much need for arms in the starting rotation and a relief role, the Mariners organization could place Garcia on the mound in either fashion sooner rather than later.
