The Green Bay Packers attempted to trade star cornerback Jaire Alexander earlier this offseason. Now, it has been reported that the Buffalo Bills were the team that was interested in acquiring him.
While the two teams discussed a trade, they could not come together on an agreement. Both sides chose to move on.
Now, the Packers have opted to outright release Alexander on Monday. He will become a free agent and will be free to choose his next team as a free agent.

"Sources: The Packers and Bills held trade talks this offseason centered around CB Jaire Alexander, but talks ultimately fell through and Buffalo moved on," he wrote on X.
"It's unclear if the Bills will revisit things now that Alexander has been released — especially since they spent a first-round pick on Maxwell Hairston — but they were a team that had shown real interest."
Alexander has only been able to play in seven games each of the last two years. He has seen his career completely derailed by injuries.
Last season in just seven games, Alexander showed why he's still so valued. He recorded 16 total tackles to go along with a fumble recovery, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and seven defended passes. Those numbers show what he's still capable of providing when healthy.
For a team like Buffalo, who is a top-tier Super Bowl contender, adding Alexander could be the final piece of the puzzle. In fact, the Bills do have a need at the cornerback position.

At 28 years old, Buffalo would be wise to take a chance on Alexander. Even though they did draft Maxwell Hairston, the former Green Bay star would be a welcome addition and would help make a push towards a championship if he can stay healthy.
Plenty of other teams around the NFL could show interest in Alexander as well. He's one of the most talented cornerbacks in the league. Any team that needs secondary help would make sense as a suitor.
Expect to hear more news about Alexander in the near future. The Bills are a team worth keeping a very close eye on.

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are a professional American football team that compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the National Football Conference (NFC) North division. The Bears hold the NFL records for the most Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees and most retired jersey numbers. Chicago is second all-time in overall victories behind their rival, the Green Bay Packers and are one of the oldest franchises in the NFL, dating back to their start in 1920. Chicago won their first and only Super Bowl in 1986 despite having various NFL greats play for their franchise like Walter Payton, Dick Butkus, Mike Ditka, and Brian Urlacher. The current quarterback of the Bears is Heisman Trophy winner and 2024 first overall pick, Caleb Williams.

DeAndre Hopkins thinks there was "a piece that's been missing" before he joined the Ravens

Veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins had played 12 NFL seasons for four different teams before joining the Ravens this offseason, and from the outside looking in, Hopkins saw something missing. According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN, Hopkins told others in the Ravens facility that he might — or might not — be that missing piece. 'It seems like there's been a piece that's been missing,' Hopkins said. 'I could be that addition. I could not be that addition.' Whether Hopkins proves to be that missing piece will be determined largely by whether he can build a rapport with quarterback Lamar Jackson. He says he doesn't know how long that will take. 'I don't think it's a [set] time frame,' Hopkins said. 'A guy like Lamar, who's a veteran quarterback, he's played a lot of football. Myself, I play a lot of football. We see things differently, but I've had rookie quarterbacks that have taken longer. So, it differs.' At 33 years old, Hopkins is on the down side of his career, but he might just be the missing piece for Jackson and the Ravens to get to the Super Bowl.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders franchise was founded on January 30, 1960, in Oakland, California. The Oakland Raiders were a charter member of the AFL (American Football League) and moved the NFL in the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. The Raiders departed Oakland and became the Los Angeles Raiders from 1982-1994. However, prior to the 1995 season the Raiders returned to Oakland, where they would remain until 2020. The NFL approved the Raiders application to relocate to Las Vegas in 2017, and the team officially made it's move to the Sin City in 2020. The Raiders have won three Super Bowls in their franchise's history. They won their first one in 1976 (Super Bowl XI) under legendary head coach John Madden. Madden was not at the helm for their next Super Bowl victories, which came in 1980 (Super Bowl XV) and 1983 (Super Bowl XVIII). The Raiders are in the AFC West division with the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Chargers.
