Louie Spence recalls ‘suffocating' during swimming task on Celebrity SAS
Speaking on ITV's Good Morning Britain (GMB), Spence, 56, said: 'It was no good and I thought I'd be good at the swimming task.

'I swim every day, I enjoy swimming, but, you know what it was, you have to put a life jacket on.'
'He (directing staff, Rudy Reyes) went out like a fish in water, with no life jacket. So when you jump in, it gives you a bit of drag.
'And I said to them I want a tight jacket, because I thought I won't get as much drag. Well, I was like suffocating. It was too tight. That's why I didn't make it to the boat.'
Spence, along with S Club singer Hannah Spearritt, withdrew from the show during the first episode.
Spence said: 'The reason I did it (the show) as well, was that I came off my antidepressants six months before I got asked to do the show.
'So I was feeling really strong in mind and physically I thought I was okay. I upped my physicality, so I thought it'd be a challenge to see, not being on like medication, how I deal with this kind of situation, and, in fact, the mental side of it, I felt fine with.
'I wasn't frightened about jumping in the water, all of those kind of things. It was the physical (side).
'I just felt as though I didn't have the physical capacity. And I was surrounded by these people who were so enthusiastic, and it was a big team that you had to play with.
'It's all part of being a team. And I didn't feel as though I was going to contribute to being part of that team.'
This year's celebrity recruits also include ex-drug mule Michaella McCollum, former footballer Adebayo Akinfenwa, Strictly Come Dancing 2025 runner-up Tasha Ghouri, Traitors winner Harry Clark, rapper Lady Leshurr, boxer Conor Benn, singer Lucy Spraggan, and ex-Love Island contestants Chloe Burrows and Adam Collard.
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins next airs on Channel 4 on Monday at 9pm.

Gary Lineker has reportedly signed a huge deal with ITV to host a brand new celebrity game show - after leaving the BBC earlier this year following an anti-semitism row. The former Match Of The Day presenter, 64, is thought to be returning to Saturday night TV for a new show called The Box. Touted as a replacement for Ant and Dec 's Saturday Night Takeaway, The Box's format sees 12 celebrities all put in a different box where they have to face a terrifying challenge. Already a show in Norway, The Sun reports it has been dubbed as a cross between I'm A Celebrity and SAS: Who Dares Wins. A source told the publication: 'The Box is massive in Norway, and the rights were quickly sold to Denmark and now the UK. ' ITV are really excited about it - and believe they have finally found a worthy successor to Saturday Night Takeaway. 'They have long been sniffing around Gary and just needed to find the right format for him. They're confident they've found that now, and the BBC 's loss is their gain.' The source added that filming will take place in the autumn and it will air in early spring, likely with a Saturday night slot. Gary and ITV have been contacted by MailOnline for comment. Back in May Gary welled up as he delivered his final Match of the Day speech, thanking viewers for their 'love and support' and sending a message to his successors. The presenter was visibly moved by a seven-minute tribute featuring the likes of Pep Guardiola, Virgil van Dijk, Ian Wright, and even Andrea Bocelli. Lineker hosted his final BBC show and hinted at the start that it 'wasn't meant to end this way' after being axed amid an antisemitism row. He was axed after sharing a pro-Palestine Instagram video which featured an emoji of a rat, with critics accusing him of promoting a familiar anti-Semitic slur. He later apologised. At the end of his last show, wrapping up his £1.4million gig, he paid tribute to the wider team, saying: 'Let me take the opportunity to thank all the other pundits I've had the pleasure of working with over the last 25 years. He 'apologised unreservedly' for his actions, saying he was unaware of the meaning of the symbol and added: 'I would never consciously repost anything anti-Semitic – it goes against everything I stand for'. He said that stepping down from his role with the BBC - where he was once the highest paid star - was 'the responsible course of action'.

Stephen Mangan admits: ‘I can be just as ruthless as everybody else'
It's not easy to be ruthless and to throw other people under the bus. At least, that's what one might assume… until there's a £250,000 prize up for grabs. That's the aim of the game in ITV's The Fortune Hotel, which is back for its second series tonight, as 11 pairs – a mixture of friends, colleagues, relatives and partners – battle it out in a game of treachery while basking in the Caribbean sunshine. 'It's a really difficult game, because they really get to know and like each other over the course of the time we're there,' host Stephen Mangan tells Metro. 'It's really difficult to brutally pull the plug on another pair and send them home, but you have to do it.' Stephen, an actor, presenter and comedian, imagined how he'd fare if he took part in the competition – and he had a frank admission to make. I probably wouldn't. I'd probably be just as ruthless as everybody else,' he admits. 'I don't know. I mean, it's hard to know. I wouldn't want to be in that position myself.' In real life, Stephen is widely regarded as a TV nice guy, years after playing the arrogant Guy Secretan in Green Wing and going toe to toe with Steve Coogan in I'm Alan Partridge. For several years, I've enjoyed watching him host one of my favourite shows, the ever-wholesome Portrait Artist of the Year. He has a positive outlook on the world, explaining that he 'fundamentally' believes that 'most people are trustworthy'. Nonetheless, a show like The Fortune Hotel proves that sometimes, you need to listen to your gut when it's telling you to take a closer look. 'I think why the show is so interesting is because we all spend our lives trying to work out if people are being straight with us, if people are trying to pull the wool over our eyes, if they're trying to pull a fast one,' Stephen says. 'That's one of the challenges of being an adult these days – trying to work out who's on your side, who wishes you well, and who is trying to get one over on you. 'So it's fascinating. We all hope that we can tell if people are lying to us, but some people are really, really good at it.' The launch of The Fortune Hotel series two comes after the series made its debut on ITV last year, with mother-and-son duo Jo-Anne and Will taking home the £210,000 cash prize. This time around, the contestants had the benefit of being able to watch the previous season to try and suss out the game. But, they might not be as prepared as they think. This year, there are 11 pairs of competitors at the start of The Fortune Hotel. Those who make it into the luxurious hotel in the Caribbean are each given a briefcase – one of which contains the coveted £250,000 cash prize. Another briefcase contains an 'early checkout card', which could result in a pair being sent home. All of the others contain blank sheets of paper. At the end of each day, the contestants come together in the hotel bar and have the chance to swap their cases. Their decisions are crucial, as they could cause another pair to suspect that they have the winning or losing case. Whoever ends up with the 'early checkout card' by the end of the night is sent home. They also take part in challenges to try and figure out who has which case as the show progresses. It's a game of logic combined with luck. 'It was exciting the first time around because it was a show that had never been done before. Sometimes these shows are formats that they've tried in other countries and have been a hit, so they know how they work. But we were inventing a brand new game, which is exciting and terrifying at the same time,' the host recalls. 'The first series was exciting to see if it worked. And it did. It worked really well, so much so that we got our second series. Then the interesting thing is, how do you make it better?' So how do you make it better? 'More surprises, more challenges, more epic things happening,' Stephen promises. He adds that some of the competitors coming to the series with a plan based on the previous season 'made it more exciting', as they were more willing to take risks. 'They just went for it. It made those evenings in Lady Luck's Bar so tense, so dramatic, so exciting.' More Trending At this point, it's unknown whether The Fortune Hotel will come back for a third series. But Stephen hopes that by the time audiences finish the second, they'll feel 'bereft' – so much more that they'll demand its return. 'Every episode gets more exciting. Every episode, it's harder to predict what's going to happen,' he states. 'There are surprises from the beginning, first minute till the last. Gary Lineker will reportedly present a new ITV Saturday night show months after being forced to quit the BBC over anti-Semitism accusations. The former England striker will return to screens fronting a game show called The Box. It comes after he was forced to step back from presenting Match of the Day in May for sharing a pro-Palestinian video on Instagram which featured a rat emoji, considered to be an anti-Semitic slur against Jewish people. A TV insider told the newspaper: 'The scheduling hasn't yet been confirmed but filming takes place in the autumn, and the series is due to air early spring. 'It looks likely to get a Saturday night slot though, but obviously it's all still to play for.' Lineker began presenting Match of the Day in 1999 and was the BBC's highest paid presenter for the past eight years. He lost out on an estimated £800,000 in BBC pay as a result of his early exit from the broadcaster. Before the anti-Semitism row erupted, he had planned to quit Match of the Day at the end of the football season that has just ended before quitting the broadcaster altogether following next year's World Cup in North America. The anti-Semitism row came two years after Lineker was asked to step back from the BBC for comparing the previous government's immigration policy to Nazism. His suspension led his co-presenters Ian Wright and Alan Shearer to also step back from the programme before Lineker was reinstated following talks with Tim Davie, the BBC director general.
