Drink driver banned after swerving along busy Powys A-road
Leah Hamblett, 29, was pulled over by police on mobile patrol along the A483 near Pool Quay, Welshpool at 2am on June 15.
After failing a roadside breath test, she was arrested and taken to the police station where she gave a reading of 74 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
Hamblett, from Warrington, pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Corsa when the alcohol level was above the 35mcgm limit when she appeared before Welshpool Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, July 1.
"I'm gutted because I'd only passed my driving test two years ago.
"I know what I did was wrong and I'll accept any punishment."
Hamblett, who was representing herself in court, explained that following the breakdown of a long-term relationship earlier this year, she had received hospital treatment.
She explained that she had been drinking and "was not dealing with things very well" after the crisis team's involvement in her rehabilitation ended in late May.
Hamblett said she "doesn't know what to do" without her car which she needs for work at a prison, and she won't be able to take up her recent promotion at another prison.
"I can't get on public transport because of my anxiety," she added.
"I'm embarrassed with myself and I'm sorry".

Driver who seriously injured two in crashes days apart in South and West Yorkshire jailed
A dangerous driver who left a man needing round-the-clock care after a crash before seriously injuring a woman in another collision while on the run has been jailed. Kallum Flowers, 35, was speeding in his white Ford Transit van when he hit Joshua Lloyd's Seat Leon after ignoring red lights in Rotherham on 22 June 2023. He then fled and was driving an Audi RS3 six days later when he collided with a Vauxhall Corsa being driven by a 61-year-old woman in South Kirkby, West Yorkshire. She suffered serious injuries in the crash. Flowers, of Masefield Road, Rotherham, ran off from the scene. He was eventually arrested more than three months later, on 2 November. He pleaded guilty to two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving as well as failing to stop and failing to report an accident. Flowers was jailed for six-and-a-half years at Sheffield Crown Court. The court heard the crash involving Mr Lloyd sent his car 60m along Rotherham Road, where it collided with a wall. The driver's door was ripped off and he was thrown from the vehicle. Mr Lloyd continues to need constant care, South Yorkshire Police said. Sgt John Taylor said: "Joshua sustained significant life changing injuries during the collision and our thoughts remain very much with him and his family today. "It has been a very difficult period of time for them as their lives have been changed forever by this incident." Following the incident Flowers was driven from the scene by 30-year-old Hannah Costello and went on the run. He caused the second crash after failing to stop for police. Flowers was eventually arrested by officers at an address in the Shiregreen area of Sheffield. Sgt Taylor added: 'I am pleased that Flowers is now behind bars where he can cause no further harm to our communities. We will not tolerate drivers who deliberately ignore the rules of the road and put innocent people at risk.' Costello was charged with assisting an offender and was given a suspended prison sentence of two years and three months.
