By: James Wong Text Size: I personally doubt it and hopefully they can prove me wrong. THE 2025-2026 Super League football season is scheduled to commence in August starting with the charity shield between JDT (Johor Darul Ta'zim) FC and Selangor FC on August 8. There are going to be only 13 teams taking part in the new season as Sri Pahang and Kedah Darul Aman opted out and will not be on the list. However, we do have Brunei making an entry to the league. I am just wondering if the teams in the new season will bring some excitement to the fans or will it be the same old routine just like every other year where JDT FC will be dominating the competition. By the look of it, I do not think other teams will pose a threat at all. Basically, the rest will only fight for the second and third positions to give them a chance to compete at the Asian level. Al-Hilal captain Al-Dawsari out of Club World Cup with hamstring injury

AL-HILAL captain Salem Al-Dawsari will miss the remainder of the Club World Cup with a hamstring injury, the Saudi club said on Saturday. 'Medical tests have confirmed that Salem Al-Dawsari has suffered from a hamstring injury. He will be undergoing a treatment and rehabilitation program that will last between four to six weeks,' Al-Hilal said in a statement via X. This means Al-Dawsari will miss Monday's round of 16 clash against Manchester City. Al-Dawsari played a pivotal role in Al-Hilal's campaign in the club world cup, after scoring the opening goal in the team's 2-0 victory over Pachuca on Friday in the third round of the group stage. The win against Pachuca secured the four-times Asian champions qualification for the last 16 after they finished second in Group H behind Real Madrid.

PENAMPANG: The Sabah Government is committed to strengthening ties and promoting unity with Sarawak through continued collaboration, said Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam. Speaking at the 2025 Kaamatan Gawai Golf Tournament in Donggongon, Dr Joachim highlighted the event as a meaningful platform to deepen mutual understanding between the people of Sabah and Sarawak, especially the Kadazandusun and Dayak communities. 'This tournament reflects the State Government's aspiration to foster goodwill and cooperation with our Sarawak counterparts,' he said, stressing that cultural events like this are crucial to regional unity and development. He noted that despite Sabah and Sarawak comprising 60 percent of Malaysia's landmass, they hold only about 20 percent of the population, a dynamic that offers room for strategic partnerships. Dr Joachim also praised the growing ties between the Kadazandusun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), saying the tournament has strengthened business and social connections. 'There are no losers here, only winners in friendship and unity,' he said, thanking the Sarawak delegation for their strong support and calling for the tournament's tradition to continue as a celebration of shared values and diversity. Also present were KCCI President Ladislaus Maluda, DCCI President Dato' Allan Keripin, PBB Secretary General YB Miro Simuh, and other dignitaries. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
