The Denver Nuggets reached an agreement on a one-year deal with Tim Hardaway Jr. on Tuesday, according to multiple media reports.
Per The Athletic, the deal is for the veteran minimum.
Hardaway, 33, was acquired last summer by the Detroit Pistons along with three draft picks from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Quentin Grimes.
The shooting guard went on to become a key contributor in Detroit's resurgence in 2024-25 that resulted in the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, where the Pistons lost to the New York Knicks in the first round.
Starting and appearing in 77 regular-season games for the Pistons, Hardaway averaged 11.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 36.8 percent from 3-point range.
Denver has enjoyed an impressive haul in the early going of free agency, adding Jonas Valanciunas and Cameron Johnson via trade and inking returnee Bruce Brown Jr. in the period's first few days. --Field Level Media/ Reuters

REUTERS/Ken Cedeno UFC plans to take its show to the White House when the United States puts on its 250th birthday celebration in 2026. The UFC confirmed to The Athletic on Friday that plans are underway to host a slate of fights on the White House grounds in Washington D.C., next year, with an expected summer date not specified. The confirmation comes a day after President Donald Trump shared those intentions to an Iowa crowd. "We're going to have a UFC fight, think of this, on the grounds of the White House," Trump said. "We have a lot of land there. ... We're going to have a UFC fight, championship fight, full fight." A friend of UFC president Dana White, Trump has regularly attended fights over the years, including taking in UFC 309 just days after being elected in November. He also attended fights in April and June. After Trump made his comments to Iowa supporters, White reposted a video of the president's remarks on Instagram. He added the caption: "This will be EPIC!!" No further details about the 2026 fights, including how far along plans have become, were shared. Should it come to fruition, it would become the first professional sporting event ever contested on White House grounds. --Field Level Media/Reuters

NBA: Knicks reportedly hiring Mike Brown as head coach

The New York Knicks are expected to hire two-time NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown as their new head coach, ESPN reported Wednesday. Brown, 55, was fired by the Sacramento Kings last December after two-plus seasons. He previously coached the Cleveland Cavaliers (2005-10) and Los Angeles Lakers (2011-12) and has a career record of 454-304. Brown replaces Tom Thibodeau, who was fired a month ago after leading the Knicks to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in 25 years. The Knicks reportedly conducted a second interview with Brown on Tuesday and also were said to be considering former Charlotte Hornets head coach James Borrego and Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach Micah Nori. The Knicks cast a wide net to replace Thibodeau. They attempted to interview current head coaches -- including Jason Kidd of the Dallas Mavericks, Chris Finch of the Timberwolves and Ime Udoka of the Houston Rockets -- but were denied permission by those teams. They also interviewed former Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins, as well as South Carolina championship-winning coach Dawn Staley for the opening. Brown has won four NBA championships as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs (2003) and the Golden State Warriors (2017, 2018 and 2022). He led the Cavaliers to the 2006-07 NBA Finals, where they were swept by the Spurs. --Field Level Media/ Reuters
