Former WWE Superstar Sonya Deville has provided an update on her career, stating that she is retired from professional wrestling "for now." The recently released star explained that her primary focus at the moment is on acting, but she is also leaving the door open for a potential return to the world of combat sports.
Deville, who was released from her WWE contract earlier this year, discussed her future in a new interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet. She was candid about her current mindset and her deep loyalty to WWE.
"Definitely For Now"
When asked if she had retired from wrestling, Deville confirmed she is at peace with stepping away from the ring. She admitted that her long tenure with WWE makes it difficult to imagine wrestling for another promotion.
"Definitely for now. Never say never. But right now I feel at peace with that," Deville said. "It was my only home from 21 years old to 31. I'm a ride or die type of person in general. So it's weird to even think about doing that, but not there."
From MMA To WWE
Sonya Deville's journey to WWE began with her background in mixed martial arts. She competed in MMA before joining the 2015 season of WWE's reality competition show, Tough Enough. Her legitimate fighting skills and intensity earned her a contract, and she went on to become one of the first openly gay female superstars in WWE history.

During her WWE run, she evolved from an enforcer in the Absolution faction to a sharp-tongued authority figure. Her most acclaimed storyline was a deeply personal feud with her former best friend, Mandy Rose. Her career reached a high point in 2023 when she and Chelsea Green captured the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, her first title in the company. Unfortunately, that reign was cut short when Deville suffered a torn ACL, an injury that kept her sidelined until her eventual release.

Acting and MMA Aspirations
Deville made it clear that her passion has now shifted back to her first love, acting. However, she also revealed that a return to the MMA world is still a very real possibility.
"My first dream was to be an actress... I will say acting feels more true to what I want in this very moment," she explained. "I do think Bare Knuckle is badass. So yeah, I can't say never."
She noted that she has a great relationship with the all-female MMA promotion Invicta FC and that she is already training again. "I will say that, yeah, I am training," she confirmed. While her wrestling career is on hold, her journey as a combat athlete and performer is far from over.

Oscar Piastri Explains What Caught Him Out During Hungarian GP Qualifying
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. McLaren Racing Formula One driver Oscar Piastri was surprised by the Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying result after Ferrari's Charles Leclerc set a fastest time of 1:15.372, securing his first pole position of the season. This dropped Piastri to P2. The qualifying session at the Hungaroring saw several surprises in Q3. Both Aston Martin drivers, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, secured P5 and P6 in their AMR 25 F1 cars. Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto made it to P7, followed by Max Verstappen in P8. Racing Bulls drivers Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar will start the race in P9 and P10. Piastri, who has secured four pole positions thus far, was surprised to be outqualified by a Ferrari. Speaking after the qualifying session at the Hungaroring, he said: "I think the wind changed a lot. It always sounds so pathetic blaming things on the wind. It did a 180 from Q2 to Q3 and meant a lot of the corners felt completely different. Second placed qualifier Oscar Piastri of Australia and McLaren and Third placed qualifier Lando Norris of Great Britain and McLaren talk in parc ferme during qualifying ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Hungary at Hungaroring on August 02, 2025 in Budapest, Hungary. More"It was difficult to judge in those conditions and maybe not the best execution. I was surprised we couldn't go quicker than that. "Second is still a decent spot to start so we'll see what we can do tomorrow. "Charles has been quick all weekend and this morning he was closer than we expected. "Things just changed a little bit. He did a very good job and well done to him. I wasn't expecting to be second to a Ferrari this weekend. "It's going to be a fun race tomorrow with a bit more involved." Leclerc was surprised by the result too, given the struggles he faced in the entire session. He said: "Today, I don't understand anything at Formula 1. Honestly, the whole qualifying has been extremely difficult. When I say extremely difficult, it's not exaggerating. It was difficult for us to get to Q2, it was difficult for us to get to Q3. "Q3, the conditions changed a little bit. Everything became a lot trickier, and I knew I just had to do a clean lap to target third. At the end of the day, it's pole position. I definitely did not expect that. "I could definitely feel it (the grip change) a lot, and I was also on the lower side of the downforce, so when the rain started in Q2, I was just hoping that it wouldn't stay there. It didn't, the conditions changed which made everything very tricky, and at the end, we are on pole position. "Honestly, I have no words. It's probably one of the best pole positions I've ever had. It's the most unexpected, for sure." When asked about his expectations of winning the race, Leclerc said: "The start and Turn 1 will be key. I have no idea how it will go, but one thing for sure is that I'll do absolutely everything in order to keep that first place. If we manage to do that, that should make our life easier for the rest of the race."

WWE SummerSlam 2025 Match Card, Start Time And Odds For Night One
WWE SummerSlam 2025 is a two-night extravanganza for the first time in the show's storied history, and it's kicking off with a bang on Saturday. Night One's headlining attraction pits the challenger CM Punk against the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther in the first-ever televised singles match between two of Raw's biggest stars. The event will emanate from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey and is expected to have an attendance of nearly 50,000 fans. In addition to Punk vs. Gunther, Roman Reigns will wrestle for just the fourth time in 2025 while country singer Jelly Roll will compete in a celebrity tag team match alongside Randy Orton. WWE SummerSlam 2025 Start Time and Streaming Info for Saturday WWE SummerSlam 2025 Night One takes place on Saturday, Aug. 2 and will air exclusively on Peacock in the United States. The event will be available on Netflix internationally. According to WWE, SummerSlam 'will screen live in select Regal Cinemas across the U.S. on Saturday, Aug. 2 and Sunday, Aug. 3' as part of a partnership with Fandango. In addition, WWE will host a three-hour pre-show on Peacock before Saturday's event. WWE SummerSlam 2025 Match Card For Night One (Saturday) WWE SummerSlam 2025 Night One (Saturday) features six matches, including three title bouts: WWE SummerSlam 2025 Betting Odds for Night One (Saturday) WWE has established some clear favorites for Night One of SummerSlam, but there are a number of matches with not-so-obvious outcomes. Below are the SummerSlam Saturday betting odds from BetUS: The X-factor here is Seth Rollins, who may or may not be legitimately injured and poised for a return at SummerSlam to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase on either Punk or Gunther. Although Gunther only recently won back the World Heavyweight Championship and probably shouldn't be losing again, Punk has taken plenty of big losses and badly needs a marquee win, too. It's possible that Rollins pulls a Naomi and cashes in to make this match a triple threat, but the most likely option is that Punk narrowly defeats Gunther, perhaps with a creative pin, and Rollins cashes in on him immediately afterward. Roman Reigns and Jey Uso are arguably WWE's two most beloved babyfaces right now. In other words, they probably aren't losing at SummerSlam. The most logical reason why this is a tag team match instead of two separate singles matches is so that Reed, the least pushed star here, can take the pin in MetLife Stadium, probably after a spear from 'The OTC1.' Tiffany Stratton hasn't clicked quite as well as champion as one would have imagined, but the same is true of Jade Cargill in terms of her in-ring performances. On one hand, Stratton isn't as over as a fan favorite as she should be. On the other hand, neither is Cargill, and as a far as actual wrestling ability, she isn't at the level of most of WWE's top singles stars in the women's division. Cargill is, however, getting a massive push after winning Queen of the Ring, signifying that she's likely the one who will end Stratton's underwhelming reign as WWE Women's Champion. An apparent late replacement for rapper Travis Scott, country music artist Jelly Roll is clearly working very hard to ensure his pairing with Randy Orton and feud with Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul goes as well as possible. Orton is so beloved right now and performing at such a high-level that the most likely scenario is for 'The Viper' to end this match with an RKO on Paul. A win for Orton and Jelly Roll will get WWE a lot of media attention, which is precisely why this match is happening to begin with. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair were reportedly set to quickly split in time for a singles match against one another at SummerSlam until Flair herself requested that they stick together. That's actually worked out really well so far as the unlikely duo has gelled quite nicely and Flair is arguably more over as a babyface than she's ever been. With Flair and Bliss having such great chemistry so quickly, WWE needs to strike while the iron is hot and crown them as champions in New Jersey. WWE surprisingly booked this match for SummerSlam, giving into fan demand to see Kross more prominently featured on Raw. Thus far, the two stars are tied at one win each, and in a rubber match like this, the babyface tends to win, especially when he's beloved as someone like Sami Zayn, who appears to be in line for a potential world title push in the later stages of the year. With Kross's contract status also uncertain, a win for Zayn feels like the safest bet among Saturday's matches at WWE SummerSlam.
