Bihar electoral roll revision: Over 74% voters have submitted enumeration forms, says EC
The poll panel said that 5,87,49,463 enumeration forms have been collected till 6 pm on Friday. Of these, booth-level officers have successfully digitised and uploaded 3.73 crore forms on the commission's ECINET mobile application, it added.
In the second phase of the revision process, booth-level officers are going from house to house to help voters and collect their filled enumeration forms, the Election Commission said, adding that over 4 lakh volunteers were providing support to senior citizens, persons with disabilities, those living with diseases and vulnerable groups.
The Election Commission has set July 25 as the last date to submit enumeration forms.

The Election Commission's statement came a day after the Supreme Court urged it to consider Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards and ration cards as valid documents for the revision of electoral rolls. The court will hear the case further on July 28.
The revision of the electoral rolls in Bihar was announced by the Election Commission on June 24.
As part of the exercise, persons whose names were not on the 2003 voter list will need to submit proof of eligibility to vote. This means that 2.9 crore out of the state's 7.8 crore voters – or about 37% of the electors – will have to submit documentary evidence.
Voters born before July 1, 1987, must show proof of their date and place of birth, while those born between July 1, 1987, and December 2, 2004, must also submit documents establishing the date and place of birth of one of their parents. Those born after December 2, 2004, will need proof of date of birth for themselves and both parents.
If the officers are satisfied with the details provided, the voters will be re-enrolled to a new voter list by electoral registration officers. If not, they will be removed from the voter lists.
A draft roll will be published on August 1 and the final roll will be out on September 30.
On July 2, eleven INDIA bloc parties told the Election Commission that the special intensive revision of Bihar's electoral rolls risked disenfranchising more than 2.5 crore voters, as they may not be able to produce the necessary documents.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on July 6 defended the exercise, claiming that the exercise had to be carried out as no one was satisfied with the current voter rolls.

Bihar Voter Enumeration: ECI deploys over 98,000 BLOs to meet July 25 deadline
New Delhi [India], July 12 (ANI): With 77,895 BLOS, an additional 20,603 newly appointed BLOS on ground, ECI is moving ahead to complete the collection of Enumeration Forms (EFs) well before the stipulated time of 25th July, a press release from the Election Commission of India stated. Field-level teams, including 38 District Election Officers (DEOS), Electoral Registration Officers (EROS) across all 243 Assembly Constituencies, and 963 Assistant EROS (AEROS), are being closely monitored by the CEO for this purpose. These efforts of ECI are being supplemented by 1.5 Lakh BLAS appointed by all political parties who are also visiting door to door and leaving no stone unturned to ensure inclusion of each and every existing elector whose names are in the Electoral Roll in Bihar as on 24 June 2025. Special efforts are also being made to assist senior citizens, PwD electors, and other vulnerable groups by over 4 lakh volunteers. Having completed 100% printing and near completion of distribution of EFs to all electors who were found at their addresses, as of 6.00 PM today, collection crossed 6,32,59,497 or 80.11%. Which means 4 out of every 5 electors in Bihar have submitted the EF. With this pace, the majority of EFs are likely to be collected much before 25th July 2025. In order to get their names included in the draft electoral rolls to be published on 1st Aug, electors have to submit their EFS, preferably, along with eligibility documents. In case any elector needs more time to submit the eligibility documents, he can submit them separately till 30 Aug, i.e. the last date of filing claims and objections and take the help of volunteers as well. Achieving yet another step well in time, BLOS have already digitised and uploaded 4.66 crore Enumeration Forms in ECINet by 6 PM today. ECINet is the newly developed integrated software that has subsumed all the different 40 ECI Apps that had existed earlier. (ANI)

Cong welcomes SC order on SIR, accuses BJP of spreading disinformation, distorting facts
New Delhi, July 12 (UNI) In an effort to counter what it called as "disinformation and distortion" by the BJP regarding the Supreme Court order on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, the Congress today said it was satisfied with the ruling, noting that the court had directed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to accept the Aadhaar card, voter card and ration card as valid proof of identity. Moreover, the party clarified that it "never pressed" for the stay of the SIR. Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, senior party leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the court had validated the Aadhar card, voter identity card and ration card as the proof of identity which roughly covers 90 percent of the people who could be affected by the SIR condition of producing citizenship proof. He claimed that the exercise could well disenfranchise about two crore voters out of around 4.9 crore voters registered after the year 2003, as they were being asked to furnish citizenship proof. He said it was beyond the jurisdiction of the Election Commission of India to verify the citizenship of people. Stating that since 2003 when the last special revision was done, ten elections have been held, he asked, "what was the hurry to carry out another revision just before the Bihar elections, which are just a few months away". He said the previous revision in 2003 was done one year before the Parliamentary elections and about two years before the Assembly elections. The senior Congress leader maintained that this "exercise of the ECI will mainly affect the marginalised, poor, disadvantaged and the minority voters". He said that, most of the labour class during the months of July and August remains away in different parts of the country for paddy sowing. Then, he added, there is an imminent threat of floods. He said, it will be practically impossible for these sections of people to produce the proof of residence like birth certificates of their parents in such a short span of time. Asserting that the Aadhaar card is an important proof of identity, he said, 'India lives on Aadhaar, from rations to rail, but for elections, it's suddenly a fairy tale? You amended the law to embrace Aadhaar, then kicked it out from the main bazaar". UNI RBE GNK 2004

Tejashwi accuses Nitish of being a 'copycat' Yadav also used the opportunity to attack his political rival, the NDA, alleging that chief minister Nitish Kumar is trying to steal his ideas. The former deputy chief minister alleged that the NDA government headed by JD(U) president Nitish Kumar was a "copycat" that was "stealing" his ideas, such as setting up a youth commission (Yuva Aayog) and hiking the old age pension. Notably, 'jungle raj', an expression indicative of lawlessness, is a colloquialism often used by BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to underscore the RJD's poor track record in controlling crime while it ruled Bihar.
