TN govt school, college hostels to be called 'social justice hostels', announces CM Stalin
There would not be discrimination of any kind, including gender or caste under the DMK rule, which was based on the principle of social justice and inclusion, he said and added that the state government's programmes were all oriented towards this lofty goal.

'School and college hostels for students being operated by various departments across Tamil Nadu will henceforth be called 'social justice hostels.' There won't be any sort of discrimination,' the Chief Minister said in a statement here.
He recalled that he had in the state assembly announced that the term 'colony' used to refer to a caste would be removed from official records. "Since it has become a symbol of dominance, a symbol of untouchability and a slang word, steps will be taken to remove this word from government documents and public domain, I had announced,' the Chief Minister explained.
Stalin reiterated his plea to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to amend the SC/ST community names ending with 'N' and 'A' to replace 'R' to restore dignity.

He further said that a government order was issued on behalf of the School Education Department on June 25, stipulating measures to prevent caste and communal conflict, and differences among school students and develop harmony and virtues among them.
The state government constituted a commission under retired Justice K Chandru to study ways to prevent caste conflicts in schools and the panel made various very important recommendations, including removing caste prefixes and suffixes in school names, which the government accepted.

There are 2,739 government hostels throughout the state accommodating 1,79,568 students and they are being run by Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, besides Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Department.

Trump further said that goods transshipped to evade a higher tariff will be subject to that higher tariff. Trumps Letter On Tariffs The Trump administration sent the first tranche of 'letters' to various countries on Monday, detailing the tariffs that the US will impose on products from them. The countries that got these letters, signed by Trump, were Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Serbia, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand and Tunisia. Will Donald Trump Send A Letter To PM Modi? According to media reports, Trump further said, 'We met with others and we don't think we'll be able to reach a deal. So, we're just sending them a letter. We're sending letters to various countries, informing them how much tariff they'll have to pay. Some might make slight adjustments, depending on whether they have a valid reason or not. We're not going to be unfair about it.' This clearly means that countries with whom the U.S. couldn't reach an agreement will be asked to pay tariffs. Some adjustments may be possible if a country provides a valid justification, but the U.S. will not act unfairly. Stalin announces aid to families of 2 students killed in school van-train collision
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his condolences to the families of two students who died after a school van was struck by a passenger train at a level crossing in Semmankuppam, Cuddalore district on Tuesday Chief Minister announced Rs 5 lakh each as compensation to the families of the deceased students, identified as Nimilesh, aged 12, and Charumathi, aged 16. He also announced Rs 1 lakh to each of the students currently undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the Leader of the Opposition and AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami also expressed his sympathies. In a post on X, he described the incident as 'deeply shocking and painful', and urged the DMK government to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured and adequate compensation for the bereaved families. The collision occurred at approximately 7.45 am at Gate Number 170, a manned but non-interlocked level crossing between Cuddalore and Alappakkam. According to the Railway Department, the van carrying schoolchildren attempted to cross the gate as it was being closed. Preliminary findings indicate that the van driver insisted on crossing despite being warned not to do vehicle was hit by Train Number 56813, the Villupuram–Mayiladuthurai passenger service, and dragged nearly 50 metres along the track. Residents in the area rushed to the scene and found the bodies of the two children on the railway line. Emergency services were alerted, and injured students were transported to the District Government Hospital in Cuddalore, where several remain in critical Railways dispatched a relief train equipped with a medical unit, and senior officials including the Divisional Railway Manager visited the site.
