Uprising in Maharashtra should open eyes: Stalin

and Tamil Nadu's long-standing language rights movement against Hindi imposition has now expanded beyond state borders, sparking waves of protest in Maharashtra.
He warned the BJP of repercussions for its policies towards Tamil language and culture.
Addressing Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray as his brother, Stalin said in a post on X that "the spirited victory rally held in Mumbai (on Saturday) under Thackeray's leadership and the resounding speeches against Hindi imposition" were encouraging. "The BJP, which illegally and arbitrarily insists that Hindi be taught as a third language in Tamil Nadu schools as a precondition to funding, was compelled to retreat for a second time in Maharashtra, fearing public backlash in a state under its governance," Stalin said.
Stalin criticized those who support the idea that "learning Hindi will guarantee jobs". He urged them to reconsider their stance, taking into account the history of Indian languages affected by Hindi dominance and the alleged plan to homogenise India into a "Hindi nation". He said, "The uprising in Maharashtra should open their eyes."

He highlighted questions raised by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray at the same rally regarding the imposition of Hindi on non-Hindi speaking states.
"What is the third language taught in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan? Why is Hindi being forced upon the progressive non-Hindi speaking states, when Hindi-speaking states themselves lag behind," Stalin quoted Raj Thackeray. He said a Union govt that prioritises development of Hindi and Sanskrit had no answers to these questions.
Stalin affirmed that DMK govt would resist "financial discrimination" against Tamil Nadu and the refusal to acknowledge the Keeladi civilisation. He cautioned the BJP to address its actions against Tamil Nadu and its culture.
"The BJP must find a remedy for the betrayal that the party is committing against Tamil Nadu and its culture. If not, the people of Tamil Nadu will teach the BJP and its new allies a lesson they will not forget," he said.

Thousands attend funeral of businessman Khemka; dy CM, Cong neta meet kin

Such an incident will directly impact the state's business and industrial environment," he said. Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries president Subhash Kumar Patwari remarked that a murder in a densely populated area like Gandhi Maidan is an open challenge to the police administration. "The chamber demands action against anti-social elements disrupting the state's environment and the arrest of those involved in the murder," he said.

CM: Implementation process of Tiprasa Accord underway
Agartala: A day after BJP's junior partner in Tripura govt TIPRA Motha threatened to withdraw support from the govt for not implementing the promises, chief minister Manik Saha on Sunday said the implementation process of the Tiprasa (tribal) Accord is underway. "I am in regular touch with Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman about the issues related to their demands. The Prime Minister is very much concerned about the development of tribals in the country and our leaders have a special feeling towards royal family," he said. His remarks came in response to TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma's statement, accusing both the state and central govts of inaction regarding the Accord's implementation and threat of withdrawing support from the BJP-led govt. Saha termed Ranjit's statement as an internal matter of their party. "I don't think I should comment on that. I haven't received anything officially in writing. I can say that the process of implementing the Tiprasa Accord is ongoing," the CM said while speaking on the 125th birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mookerjee on Sunday. Addressing media, TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma on Saturday said they have extended support to the govt following some conditions but none of them were fulfilled. Despite the high court order, the state govt has not conducted village council election, two seats of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) were vacant for long time. Meanwhile, a TIPRA Motha delegation on Saturday began a foot march for Jantar Mantar in Delhi, demanding push back of illegal Bangladeshi nationals who came here after 1971.

Unlike TN, only against imposition of Hindi in primary schools: Raut
Mumbai: A day after Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin tweeted to back the rally by the Thackeray cousins in Mumbai and said BJP had been forced to retreat for the second time against Hindi imposition in schools, Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday welcomed his support. However, he said his party was not opposed to Hindi, only to its imposition in primary schools. "The southern states have been fighting against Hindi for a long time. They don't speak Hindi. Our stand is different. We have not stopped people from speaking in Hindi, or Hindi films and newspapers. We are only against the imposition of Hindi in primary schools," Raut told reporters. Responding to CM Devendra Fadnavis's jibe referring to Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray as rudaali (weeper) who kept complaining about how deputy CM Eknath Shinde brought down the MVA govt, Raut said, "Fadnavis was scared by the success of the rally. In fact, Fadnavis and Shinde should participate in a rudaali competition and we should organise it."
