He said ongoing conflicts in Gaza, Iran, Lebanon and Syria are not just regional concerns but have far-reaching impacts on international stability and the well-being of the global Muslim community. Hajiji condemned Israel's continuous military actions as violations of international law and basic human rights, warning they could reshape global geopolitics. He stressed the need for Muslims to stand united against Islamophobia, humanitarian crises and economic pressures driven by Western powers under the so-called New World Order. According to them, while the company's mandate in managing one of the state's most vital public resources remains unchanged, the composition of the newly appointed board has sparked widespread concern among the public, particularly on social media. 'The makeup of the new board raises serious questions about inclusivity and representation. It appears to be dominated by individuals from one race and one religion, with no representation from the Chinese community or other non-Muslim groups. 'In a state as diverse as Sarawak, this is not only disappointing, it is unacceptable,' they said in a statement. They emphasised that their statement was not intended to be racially provocative or to challenge the qualifications of those appointed. However, they pointed out that the current composition sends an unfortunate and troubling message. 'It implies, falsely, that there are no educated, experienced or capable Chinese or non-Muslim Sarawakians who are trusted or qualified to serve in such leadership roles within state-linked companies. That is a deeply unjust suggestion,' they said. They added that Sarawak has long been seen as a model of racial and religious harmony, and this spirit must also be reflected in the composition of leadership in public institutions. They highlighted that when a government-linked company, especially one that manages essential public resources, is dominated by one group, it risks eroding public trust and creating perceptions of bias, exclusion, or political favoritism. 'We urge the state government and all relevant authorities to reassess the current board structure of Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd and to take concrete steps to restore balance, diversity and inclusiveness. Moyog seat: PKR demands first priority

PENAMPANG: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Penampang branch sees itself as the main contender among government-linked parties to contest the Moyog seat in the State election. Chairman of Penampang PKR Joseph Alex Chang, after handing over of appointment letters to newly appointed committee members, said it has the sole right among government-linked parties to contest the seat, now held by Parti Warisan. 'The party's deputy president (Nurul Izzah Anwar) announced that PKR Sabah will be contesting 13 seats and we will be contesting the Moyog seat,' he said. Upko, also a member of the unity government, is also eyeing the seat, as well as GRS. 'We pledge to give full support to Datuk Seri Anwar to continue leading this country as Prime Minister,' he said, adding that Anwar is a visionary leader and one of the best Malaysian leaders. Historically, he said, Penampang PKR has always maintained the Moyog seat for the party in the past two state elections. He reminded party members and supporters to always bear in mind that the election is just around the corner. Joseph noted that some party members have been taking a relaxed attitude given less challenging atmosphere after the last election. 'We must step up our efforts and ensure that this seat will remain with PKR,' he added. 'While it has not been ascertained who in Penampang PKR will be the candidate, what is most certain is that PKR will be contesting the seat.' Terrence Siambun won the Moyog seat under the PKR banner in 2013 with total votes of 7, 462 and majority of 1, 682 votes. Minister urges Muslims to respect burial grounds, avoid superstition

His statement follows reports of individuals collecting soil from graves, believing it holds blessings. Mohd Na'im emphasised that visiting graves should serve as a reminder of mortality and encourage prayers for the deceased, not as an opportunity for superstitious acts. 'I have followed news reports about certain individuals allegedly taking soil from the grave of Nurly Shahirah Azman in the belief that it brings blessings. Such action is deplorable and goes against the principles of Islamic faith,' he said in a Facebook post. He warned against actions that could lead to shirk (associating partners with God) and urged Muslims to adhere to Islamic law. The minister also commended Nurly Shahirah's family for their measured response and the religious authorities for monitoring burial sites. Nurly Shahirah, a 23-year-old hafizah (Quran memoriser), was among the 15 UPSI students who died in a bus crash in Gerik earlier this month. Her family installed barriers at her grave in Kampung Gong Pasir Muslim Cemetery, Terengganu, to prevent further misuse. Mohd Na'im called for prayers for Nurly Shahirah's soul and strength for her family.
