Boxing icon Butterbean sends fight offer to Jake Paul after shedding over 200lbs
Butterbean has sent a direct message to Jake Paul, telling the YouTube star that he is "coming for him" following his unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr Butterbean has threatened to come out of retirement as he issued a bold challenge to Jake Paul, following his body transformation. The ex-boxer, whose real name is Eric Esch, hasn't fought since his 2013 defeat to Kirk Lawton. However, the 58-year-old insists he is ready to return, but for one fight only. In an Instagram video promoting Lucky Energy, the former heavyweight champion claims that Paul "runs his damn mouth too much" and mocks him for only being able to fight "retired bald men" - which is a likely dig at his controversial win over Mike Tyson. The video showcases Butterbean's collaboration with the energy drink company and his 'Knockout Punch' flavour. In the skit, a Paul lookalike responds to the challenge before getting hit by a wheelchair, thrown by Butterbean's fake promoter, Mr Lucky. This new callout comes after Problem Child's recent improvement to a 12-1 record, following a unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on Saturday night. Although Paul made several callouts post-fight, he did not respond to a match with Butterbean. Despite the likely comedic intent behind Butterbean's challenge as part of an advert, it isn't the first time the ex-boxer has tried to square off with Paul in the ring. Before the highly anticipated bout between Tyson and Paul in November 2024, Butterbean revealed he was prepared to step into the ring with the 28-year-old if necessary. In a TikTok video posted just before the fight, the former heavyweight champ said: "Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, I am going to be at the fight to challenge the winner of the fight, Yeah. Mike, if you fall out again, I'll be there to take your place." Butterbean first expressed his desire to take on the Problem Child back in March 2022 when Paul had an undefeated record of 5-0, having beaten the likes of Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, and Nate Robinson. Discussing his impressive weight loss and return to training after retirement, Butterbean said: "I'm working with DDP (Diamond Dallas Page) to get up walking and running around again and I'm feeling the best shape I ever have. "I'm at fight weight. You'll have to listen to my podcast coming up to find exactly how much weight I have lost, but I haven't weighed this in over 20 years so that'll give you an idea. "The big announcement is I'm gonna fight one last fight. It's gonna be one year from now. Jake Paul, if you're ready, I'm here for you my friend. Let's get it on, me and you Jake Paul. I bet it would be an awesome fight. After you said what you said about me in the magazine, I'm ready to fight you. Are you ready? I don't think so." There have been many more callouts since then, but the duo have not yet met to discuss the terms of what could be a sensational showdown in the sport. However, Butterbean's recent jibe at the young fighter might just be the catalyst needed to bring them together in the ring for possibly the most unusual fight to date.

Glastonbury headliner ‘had to use cheat sheet on stage to remember lyrics of most famous songs'
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) NEIL Young reportedly had to use a cheat sheet during his Glastonbury headline set to remember the lyrics to some of his most famous songs. Rock legend Neil, 79, is believed to have been seen glancing at a printed song sheet during the final 25 minutes of his 110-minute Pyramid Stage performance on Saturday night. One festivalgoer told MailOnline: 'You'd think he would know the words by now, he has been singing these songs for years. 'But maybe it's difficult to play the piano and remember the lyrics.' Neil - one of the oldest artists ever to headline Glastonbury - performed a set packed with hits including Rockin' in the Free World and Throw Your Hatred Down. However, the performance appeared to attract a smaller crowd than previous Saturday night headliners, with some attendees noting that the field in front of the Pyramid Stage was unusually sparse. One wrote on social media: 'So empty at Neil Young," while another added: Pyramid stage field isn't even a quarter full by the looks of it.' The appearance marked his first Glastonbury performance since 2009. Neil had initially turned down this year's offer, criticising the BBC's involvement with the festival and claiming it was 'under corporate control'. Representatives for Neil and Glastonbury have been contacted for comment. But that wasn't Neil's only trouble during the gig. Neil Young's Glastonbury slot 'dogged by sound issues' The Canadian rock veteran also had difficulties with his microphone throughout the set. He opened his show with Sugar Mountain, saying, 'Thank you folks," to the crowd as the song ended. But those watching it were not impressed, with one person commenting: 'Someone tell Neil Young to sing into a microphone.' A second moaned: 'Sound needs turning up like ffs, he's shredding that axe and you can hardly hear it.' While a third said: 'Neil young with 48 microphones and none of them able to make his voice sound much beyond a grumble. Glastonbury has had a real hard time with the headliners the last couple of years…' And a fourth added: 'Watched a few minutes of this Neil Young man, this is like the worst thing I've ever seen and heard. 'It's a no from me! Neil Young should not be headlining!Terrible!' raged another. The star's set was shown live on the BBC after the broadcaster had previously said it would not be transmitted live "at the artist's request". Earlier on Saturday, a BBC statement said: "We are delighted to confirm that Neil Young's headline set from Glastonbury on Saturday will be broadcast live to audiences across the UK on the BBC." Neil's performance was not guaranteed as earlier in the year he temporarily pulled out of, claiming it is a "corporate turn-off" due to its broadcast deal with the BBC. He said on his website: "We were told that BBC was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in. "It seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way I remember it being." But just days later he did a surprise U-turn, the singer confirmed his slot blaming "an error in the information I received" for him initially turning down the offer. A statement on his website read: "Due to an error in the information received, I had decided to not play the Glastonbury Festival, which I always have loved. "Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing. Hope to see you there." The Sun first reported that the singer was booked to headline Glastonbury, 16 years after he last played on the Pyramid Stage. Glastonbury 2025 - confirmed acts so far TICKETS to the 2025 festival sold out in just minutes before some of the acts were even confirmed. Here is who has been confirmed so far. 'Stop with your questions and let me beeeee maaaaan.' Marty joined Geordie Shore in 2016 and famously had an on/off romance with Chloe Ferry. Their tumultuous relationship came to an end when Marty was axed from the show a year later, with him later branding her 'the biggest attention seeker I've ever met in my life'. In 2022 Marty joined the line-up of Celebs Go Dating and confessed he prefers one night stands to dating. He told BANG Showbiz at the time: 'I never really went on dates with someone, always had a few one night stands. 'I did not have commitment fear, it was just easier going from girlfriend to girlfriend. 'Sometimes I would have a one night stand and the girl wouldn't end up leaving for three to four days.' Marty added: 'I probably still have a few girlfriends I've forgotten to finish with.' And The Sun later told how Marty's behaviour on the dating show stopped Geordie Shore bosses from inviting him back. Celebs Go Dating's Marty McKenna strips totally naked before hopping into bed with his date and telling TV crew to 'f*** off' An insider said: 'Marty wasn't asked back as he didn't behave well while filming Celebs Go Dating last year, which is made by the same production company that makes Geordie Shore. "Bosses weren't impressed by his antics, so decided not to invite him back after the reunion.'
