Built for 22 cr, Morabadi stage to be razed over design flaws

), is set to be dismantled following critical
design flaws
flagged during a recent inspection on Feb 27 by the district administration.
Although the entire development aimed to modernise the space for public and ceremonial events, the stage, which was the only completed component, proved inadequate for large gatherings and state functions.
The decision has triggered a political controversy, with the opposition accusing the govt of destroying state assets created during BJP tenures. Though the JUIDCO project was envisioned as a multi-use plaza for large-scale public functions, only the stage was completed.
The structure, measuring 75 ft by 40 ft and featuring a tensile canopy, 11 LED screens, and Gobo lights, has proven inadequate for key events like R-Day and Independence Day.
The inspection found that the canopy and its pillars obstruct visibility and the 9 ft elevation fails to ensure clear line of sight for attendees.
Further, the static design prevents expansion, often forcing the administration to install temporary stages up to 72 ft ahead of the current platform, compromising space and event layout.
"Based on inspection findings, it was decided that the current stage and canopy would be dismantled. Temporary, functional structures suited to individual events will replace it. Large public programmes typically require stage lengths of 80 to 180 ft, which this setup does not support," said Ranchi DC Manjunath Bhajantri.
BJP's state spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo lashed out at the Hemant Soren-led govt, saying, "Why demolish a multi-purpose stage that served Republic Day, Independence Day, and several historic rallies, including two of Hemant Soren's own oath-taking ceremonies? Was this decision driven by any public demand or simply an attempt to erase BJP-era contributions?" He accused the govt of wasteful spending, especially when departments claim a lack of funds for essential schemes.
Shahdeo added, "This stage was also a platform for local artists. Now the govt, instead of preserving such infrastructure, is arbitrarily tearing it down." According to the officials, future makeshift stage structures will prioritise visibility, modularity, and audience capacity to meet modern event demands.

Start Karimnagar-Jagtial road expansion work, Bandi urges Gadkari
Karimnagar: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar requested Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari sto start long-pending Karimnagar-Jagtial expansion work immediately. Bandi Sanjay, who met Gadkari in New Delhi on Monday, discussed the Karimnagar-Jagtial road expansion work as well as the Central Road Infrastructure Funds (CRIF) sanction issues. He reminded that the Centre had prepared proposals with a fund of Rs 2151 crore before the last elections for the 4-lane expansion from Karimnagar to Jagtial road. He apprised Gadkari that the tender process has not started yet. Gadkari told Bandi Sanjay that the Karimnagar-Jagtial road expansion work has been hampered due to objections from the public and legal obstacles. All the obstacles have been overcome and the report has been sent to the committee and the expansion work will be started soon. Bandi Sanjay submitted a petition seeking the release of Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for the release of proposals for various road expansion works in Telangana. He also submitted the pending road proposals in his parliamentary constituency to the Union Minister. CRIF proposals worth a total of Rs 113 crore were submitted to Gadkari. These include the construction of a high level bridge over the Manair river as part of the Bavupeta-Khazipur road in Kothapalli mandal of Karimnagar district and the expansion work of Gundlapalli-Pothur road in Ganneruvaram mandal. In addition, there are proposals for the construction of bridges from Chandurthi to Motkuraopet (km 5/0 to 8/450).

We are fulfilling all promises made to people: Shabbir Ali
Nizamabad: The state government has been sincerely implementing the promises made to the people during assembly election, said State Government Advisor Mohammed Shabbir Ali while distributing ration cards in Nizamabad on Monday. Shabbir Ali said that the previous government did not provide a single ration card in its ten-year rule. Respecting the aspirations of the people, he reminded them that his government is providing ration cards on a large scale. He clarified that this is a continuous process. If there are still eligible people left, they should apply and those who have not received the cards need not worry. He assured that ration cards will be granted to every eligible family. Shabbir said that 11,852 new ration cards have been granted in Nizamabad district alone, and the names of another 84,232 members have been newly added to the ration card list. As part of this, he explained, new cards have been given to 3,174 families in the North and South mandals of Nizamabad Urban constituency and the names of 16,687 members have been newly registered. He reminded them that despite the burden of debt of Rs 7.80 lakh crore due to the irresponsible governance policies of the previous government, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is implementing the promises given to the people on priority. Free bus travel for women, distribution of fine rice, Indiramma houses, loan waiver of Rs 22,000 crore to farmers, crediting of Rythu Bandhu funds in accounts of 9,000 crore, cooking gas cylinder for Rs 500 and implementation of 200 units of free electricity are proof of the sincerity of their government, he clarified. He said that distribution of fine rice is not available anywhere else in the country, including BJP-ruled states, and is being implemented only in Telangana. He said that 3,500 houses have been sanctioned in each constituency to realise the dream of owning a house for the poor, and Rs 5 lakh is being provided to each beneficiary. He advised that there is no need to repay these funds and that not a single rupee should be given to anyone for sanctioning Indiramma houses. Shabbir Ali warned that if anyone demands money from the beneficiaries, they should complain to him directly and strict action would be taken against those responsible. Additional Collector Ankit said that the process of distribution of ration cards is going on in a completely transparent manner. He said that strict scrutiny is being carried out to ensure that only eligible people are granted cards. He said that verification of applications is still going on and eligible families will be granted cards.
