Ozzy Osbourne's heartbreaking final remark to Jack after farewell performance
Ozzy Osbourne's son, Jack, has revealed the comment he made after his last ever performance, and it was filled with his iconic wit. The Black Sabbath icon, 76, joined his bandmates for one final time earlier this month in his hometown of Birmingham.
He received an epic send-off surrounded by his beloved family and fellow rock icons, and he hung up his Prince of Darkness crown once and for all. Just over two weeks later, Ozzy sadly died with a statement confirming the news.
Ozzy had been surrounded by the love and support of his nearest and dearest in his final weeks, with son Jack sharing a touching insight. He told his famous father about the rave reviews he had received for his Back to the Beginning concert at Villa Park.
Despite all the praise and attention, Ozzy had a very humorous response that showed he still had his blunt ways. Ozzy told his son: "Lot of f***ing good that does me. I'm retired now!"
Revealing how he was doing after the show in a now poignant interview, Jack told the Daily Mail:"Dad's great and his mood's really high. He's in a really good spot right now."
Speaking of his health issues, Ozzy's son added: "Listen, everyone gets old, everyone slows down as you age - it's part of the journey. I just try and support him as much as I can. We all do."
Jack admits that the whole Osbourne family had become emotional watching Ozzu "doing his job" at Villa Park, with the family tearing up. He said that people had been reaching out to the family, showing all kinds of love for the legend.
It was announced on Tuesday that after years of battling ill health, Ozzy had died at the age of 76. A statement from the Osbourne family read: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.
"He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis." It's claimed that Ozzy's health had rapidly deteriorated on Tuesday morning, with an air ambulance being sent to his home in Buckinghamshire, where paramedics spent hours attempting to save him.
A local resident said they became alarmed after noticing the helicopter in the quiet village and saw it landing close to Ozzy and Sharon's mansion.
They told the MailOnline: "All of us were talking about it and wondering what had happened. We immediately feared it may be for him as he was known to be in fragile health. When we heard later that night that he had died it confirmed our worst fears."
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Air Ambulance said: "We can confirm that our helicopter was dispatched to provide advanced critical care at an incident near Chalfont St Giles yesterday."
Meanwhile, his sisters received the news via phone call hours before the Osbourne family issued their statement. Speaking from her sister Gillian's house, Ozzy's sister, Jean, told the Mirror that the last time she saw her brother, she found it "upsetting." She said: "We saw him in Birmingham the other week when he and the rest of the band were given the freedom of the city.
"It was upsetting because he could not stand up straight, but he was still our John, still cracking the jokes. To us, he was our brother, not a celebrity, so it's crazy to see the outpouring of love since his death was announced. We just can't believe he is gone, and we won't be getting another phone call or text from him. Every week without fail, he would get in touch, either by phone or text, to ask how we were all doing and what was going on."

Despite a cloudy day, the pair pulled out all the stops. A total of 150 white padded seats were laid out on the flagstones while staff worked hard to instal a detailed floral altar. After their nuptials at the cathedral, they headed the short distance to The Lowry hotel in Salford for the wedding breakfast and reception. Lucy also posed for a photo with her on-screen mum, Tina O'Brien, who looked stunning in a plunging blue floral dress. Tina put on a loved-up display with her new man as she left the wedding. She brought her new boyfriend, interior designer Adam Fadlé, to the star-studded bash and the pair couldn't keep their hands off each other. The couple embraced and kissed before the actress looked up lovingly at her boyfriend while holding his arm. Real-life soap couples Soaps are renowned for their sweet and scandalous romances – but it's not just in scripted storylines where love is blossoming. A number of our favourite small-screen actors have fallen for co-stars and soapland rivals when the cameras have stopped rolling. Max Parker and Kris Mochrie Despite playing brothers Luke and Lee Posner on Emmerdale, the pair never actually shared any scenes together. But the pair still fell in love after meeting on set. Max and Kris got together in 2020, moving in together later than same year and got engaged in 2022. In a sweet Instagram post, the couple confirmed they're planning a 2025 wedding. Beth Cordingly and Ian Kelsey Beth, who plays Ruby Fox-Miligan, announced her love for her co-star Ian Kelsey, who played Dean Glover, shortly after she joined Emmerdale at the beginning of 2024. Zoe Henry and Jeff Hordley Emmerdale favourites Zoe and Jeff, who play Rhonda Goskirk and Cain Dingle met at drama college in 1994 and have been together ever since. While working together might be too much for some couples, that's definitely not the case for Zoe and Jeff. Zoe previously told The Sun: "Working on the same show as Jeff also helps because if one of us is having a bad day then the other will completely understand." Lesley Dunlop and Chris Chittell Lesley and Chris are another Dales romantic success story. Unlike some of the other soap stars, the pair who play Brenda Walker and Eric Pollard, are together on and off screen, officially tying the knot in 2016. Rock band reschedule handful of shows to 'grieve' Ozzy Osbourne
Iconic metal band Pantera has cancelled several shows following the death of long-time friend Ozzy Osbourne. The Black Sabbath vocalist and music pioneer died aged 76 on July 22, with his family announcing the news to his legions of fans. It came just weeks after Ozzy and Sabbath performed their final show in their hometown of Birmingham, raising £140million for charity. Pantera – made up of Phil Anselmo, Charlie Benante, Rex Brown, and Zakk Wylde – were among the star-studded bill of Back To The Beginning, performing Cowboys from Hell, Walk, Planet Caravan, and Electric Funeral. Zakk was the longtime guitarist for Ozzy and joined Pantera in 2022 when the 80s band reformed. Following Ozzy's death, the group has rescheduled two concerts and cancelled three others to allow the band members to 'mourn' and 'grieve' their friend. In a message posted to social media, they said: 'Ozzy wasn't just a legend who shaped the very foundation of heavy metal and inspired Pantera from the beginning — he was family. 'A mentor, a brother, and a constant presence in our lives both on and off the stage. The bond we shared with him ran far deeper than music. 'In light of this profound loss, we need time and space to grieve — to be with our families, our crew, and each other as we process and honour the life of someone who meant so much to us. 'Out of respect, and to allow members of our team the time to mourn, we will be rescheduling the following shows.' Their US shows in Gilford, Birmingham, and Virginia Beach will no longer take place. Their July 20 show in Saratoga Springs has been rescheduled to September 9, and their July 31 date in Holmdel will now be held on September 8. Following the news of Ozzy's death, Pantera shared a tribute online expressing their deepest sympathies with his wife, Sharon, and his children, including Jack and Kelly. 'RIP @ozzyosbourne Thank you for all that you did for metal & Pantera. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Amy & Louis, we are so very sorry for your loss ❤️🩹,' they wrote. Ahead of the Back To The Beginning show, Zakk, who toured extensively with Ozzy throughout his career and reunited with the musician at the Villa Park show, shared some of his fondest memories of the Crazy Train hitmaker. 'I remember we played the Budokan [Arena] in Tokyo. I'd always have a bag of beer with me, just in case anywhere we were going didn't have beer,' the Black Label Society musician told NME. 'So, Oz comes in the room after the gig. He goes 'Zakky, Zakky… you got any beers?' I go, 'Yeah, but I'm not giving you one here. You're going to get us fired! Mum's [Sharon Osbourne] right across the hall – she's going to come and see the two of us drinking, is that going to be good?' He said the pair were like 'a couple of naughty school kids' opening up on the 'wholesome' touring memory. '[Ozzy] goes, 'Alright, tell you what, I'll meet you in the bathroom.' So I go in the bathroom, I'm waiting. All of a sudden, I hear the door open. He comes in the stall right next to me, and I push a Kirin or Asahi under there. I hear the 'psssst' of the can, then 'glug, glug, glug!' He downs it in one, puts the can down, pushes it back under and goes, 'Thanks, Zakk. I'll see you at dinner'.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Plenty of celebrities across the globe have also shared tributes, including Sir David Beckham, Queen legend Sir Brian May, and the Gallagher brothers, who displayed Osbourne's photo on-screen during their Wembley concert. Osbourne's death was announced by his family, who revealed that he was 'surrounded by love' when the moment came. More Trending They said in a statement: 'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.' As well as Sharon, he is survived by six children from his two marriages. Fans will know Kelly and Jack, whom he shared with Sharon and starred in their hugely popular reality series The Osbournes. But he also had another daughter, Aimee, with the former X Factor judge. Huge rock band reschedule several shows so they can 'grieve' Ozzy Osbourne
Members of heavy metal band Pantera were good friends with Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon, and Phil Anselmo, Rex Brown, Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benant need to 'mourn' his death Rockers Pantera say they can't face taking to the stage following the death of their 'inspiration' Ozzy Osbourne. The heavy metal band have rescheduled a number of shows so they can grieve the music icon. The death of the Black Sabbath frontman, a pioneer in the genre, was announced last Tuesday. His devastated family said in a statement that the 76-year-old was 'surrounded by love' at the time of his passing. Pantera - Phil Anselmo, Rex Brown, guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Charlie Benant - grew close to Ozzy and say they need time to come to terms with the loss of their friend. In 1997, the group performed at Ozzfest, a music festival featuring heavy metal acts organised by him and his wife Sharon and they stayed close ever since. Pantera said: 'Ozzy wasn't just a legend who shaped the very foundation of heavy metal and inspired Pantera from the beginning — he was family. A mentor, a brother, and a constant presence in our lives both on and off the stage. The bond we shared with him ran far deeper than music. 'In light of this profound loss, we need time and space to grieve — to be with our families, our crew, and each other as we process and honour the life of someone who meant so much to us. Out of respect, and to allow members of our team the time to mourn, we will be the following rescheduling shows. July 28 - Saratoga Springs, NY → Tuesday, September 9. July 31 - Holmdel, NJ → Monday, September 8." Out of respect, and to allow members of our team the time to mourn, we will be rescheduling the following shows: Zakk recently recalled the most 'wholesome' moment from his time on tour with Ozzy. In an interview with Metal Hammer back in April, he looked back at their time on the road together. 'I remember we played the Budokan [Arena] in Tokyo. I'd always have a bag of beer with me, just in case anywhere we were going didn't have beer,' he said. "He comes in the room after the gig. He goes 'Zakky, Zakky… you got any beers?' I go, 'Yeah, but I'm not giving you one here. You're going to get us fired! Mum's [Sharon Osbourne] right across the hall – she's going to come and see the two of us drinking, is that going to be good?'' '[Ozzy] goes, 'Alright, tell you what, I'll meet you in the bathroom.' So I go in the bathroom, I'm waiting. All of a sudden, I hear the door open - he comes in the stall right next to me, and I push a Kirin or Asahi under there. I hear the 'psssst' of the can, then 'glug, glug, glug!' He downs it in one, puts the can down, pushes it back under and goes, 'Thanks, Zakk. I'll see you at dinner.'' In a statement that devastated the music world last week, the Osbourne family, including Kelly and Ozzy's wife Sharon, had said: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis." Ozzy's former Black Sabbath bandmates have also issued moving statements. Sharon is said to have been left utterly broken by Ozzy's death. Fans have since been leaving tributes outside his Buckinghamshire home, with flowers and loving message laid outside the gates. Half-drunk pints and bottles of beer have also been left alongside candles as mourners toast the rock icon on Birmingham's Black Sabbath bridge. In the wake of his sad death, details surrounding his final hours have emerged as it's been reported air ambulance crew flew to the Black Sabbath star's mansion in Buckinghamshire and worked for two hours to save his life. Thousands of fans have called for Birmingham Aiport to be renamed after the Prince of Darkness, but the airport has announced its own plans to honour Ozzy. Instead, Birmingham Aiport is planning to add artwork paying tribute to the Black Sabbath frontman in its terminal. A spokesperson told BirminghamLive: "Ozzy Osborne is an inspiration to so many in our region proving that talent, hard work, and commitment can take you to all corners of the world. In the coming weeks, we will be looking at how we can celebrate his heritage and contribution to the region via terminal artwork, creating a greater sense of place for Birmingham and his fans."
