Matildas star Ellie Carpenter and her new wife are set to become rivals just weeks after their stunning French wedding
Carpenter, 25, is on the cusp of a move to join her Australia team-mate Sam Kerr at Chelsea and will leave Lyon during the off-season after having spent five years at the club, according to Channel 7.
It also comes as her new wife, Van de Donk, who has been at the footy club since 2021, is also moving to pastures new ahead of next season.
The former Arsenal midfielder is joining up with the London City Lionesses, meaning, should Carpenter's reported move to the Blues go ahead, the pair will square off in the Women's Super League next season.
The London City Lionesses were crowned victors of the Women's Championship last season, earning themselves a spot in the WSL for the 2025-26 season.
Carpenter, meanwhile, has made 126 appearances for Lyon and has a year left on her current deal with the French outfit.

But the footy couple are now set to become rivals on the pitch, as they are both set to leave Lyon
However, the right-back is expected to put pen to paper a three-year contract with the west London club.
It means she'll reunite with former Lyon boss Sonia Bompastor for the new season, with the pair going on to win the Women's Champions League together at the Premiere Ligue club in 2022.
Carpenter and Van de Donk are understood to have met when the Netherlands star, 33, joined up with the French outfit in 2021.
The pair went public on their relationship back in 2023 and announced their engagement on New Year's Day in 2024.
Carpenter and Van de Donk tied the knot in a stunning ceremony at the Chateau Hermitage de Combas in southern France's Servian region.
The pair published several pictures from the day on Instagram, with Carpenter writing: 'I choose you. I will always choose you.'
Both footballers stunned in beautiful white gowns as they stood on the lawn of a luxurious French mansion.
Van de Donk's gown was made by bridal gown brand Pronovias while Carpenter's gown was made by Collingwood-based custom dress maker Mia Ateliers.
Carpenter had a year left on her Lyon contract but is being backed to sign a three-year deal with the Blues
She called it 'the dress of her dreams'.
'The setting is so lush and green, it's beautiful,' Carpenter told Vogue.
'It's got this unique, elegant vibe but still feels grounded in love and who we are as a couple. Intimate, natural, and full of heart.'
Van de Donk, meanwhile, has been named in the Netherlands squad for this summer's Women's Euros, which kicks off today.
The Netherlands have a set of tough fixtures ahead of them too. They'll first take on Wales on July 5 in Lucerne, Switzerland, before travelling to Zurich to play England. Their final group stage match comes on July 13 against France in Basel.
The Euros comes just as Van de Donk has agreed a deal to join London City, following three years at Lyon.
'It's just such a nice environment to be in, the club really appeals to me, it reminds me of a little family, and I want to be a part of it," Van de Donk said.

Noni Madueke sends message to Arsenal fans after toxic reaction to transfer
Arsenal have announced the signing of Noni Madueke after striking a deal worth up to £52million for the Chelsea winger. Madueke, 23, has put pen to paper on a five-year deal, tying him to the north London outfit until 2030. The England international becomes Arsenal's fourth signing of the summer transfer window, following Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga through the doors at the Emirates. The Gunners are also understood to be working on deals for Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera and Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres behind the scenes, while personal terms have reportedly been agreed with Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze. Madueke joins a select group of 18 senior players to have crossed the divide and left Chelsea for bitter rivals Arsenal. Petr Cech, Kai Havertz, Jorginho and, of course, Kepa are just some of the names to have made the controversial move from west to north London in recent memory. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link we'll send you so we can get football news tailored to you. Considering Madueke hardly set the Premier League alight last season, managing a total of only seven goals in the English top flight, it's fair to say the signing has divided Arsenal's fanbase. The hashtag #NoToMadueke began trending on X when it first emerged that Arsenal had reached an agreement for the attacker, while a petition – signed by thousands – demanded that the club drop their interest with immediate effect. Meanwhile, a mural outside the Emirates was defaced with the words, 'Arteta out'. Another that had been vandalised simply called Arsenal's head coach a 'c***'. Given the hostile reaction from some supporters, Madueke would be forgiven for having some lingering doubts surrounding the move. But speaking to Arsenal's official website for the first time, the former PSV Eindhoven man insisted he was looking forward to the challenge and was delighted to part of the Gunners 'family'. 'Very happy, very excited to get to work,' he said. 'It's great to be back home [north London], be with my mum, my dad. 'I've spoken to Declan [Rice], Myles [Lewis-Skelly], Bukayo [Saka], even Jurrien [Timber] as well and they all say amazing things about the club and the culture here and how warm it is and how much of a family it is. 'I'm really happy to be a part of the Arsenal family now.' Asked what his ambitions were, Madueke replied: 'Just to win, to win all the competitions we're in. I feel like we're definitely capable of doing that. 'And just to help the team in every way I can and grow as a player, but also as a person. 'Arsenal fan, I can't wait to see you at the Emirates. I'm so, so happy to be here. It's going to be a great success.' Manchester United great Rio Ferdinand was one of many to condemn those who had 'vilified' and 'bullied' Madueke ahead of the switch, branding the reaction an 'utter disgrace'. 'For a young 23 year old English footballer to be vilified, bullied, embarrassed and totally strip down at a time when you're meant to be celebrating a transfer worth £55 million,' the legendary ex-England defender told his followers on social media. 'Yes a young kid with a dream about to secure a £55million dream move to a club of his desire leaving a rival at that to be treated in this manner via section of the Arsenal fanbase is an utter disgrace. 'Just put yourself in his shoes for one minute, just put yourself in his parents' shoes for one minute and just think of how that feeling must be. 'I'll say it again, at a time as a player, as a human, as a family, you should be celebrating. 'I just hope the people that are closest to him are around him and supporting him in the way that he needs right now. 'It's fine for fans to disagree with signings or decisions made at their football club but the way some fans have publicly voiced their opinions and those who have gone a step further in publicly joining a petition for this player not to be signed by their football club is beyond me. 'I have never seen anything like this before, and I hope I don't ever again. 'Like I said earlier, just imagine if this was your best friend, one of your family members, your brother, son… then tell me how would you feel if they were on the receiving end of this vulgar behaviour??? More Trending 'By the way, this isn't aimed at all Arsenal fans, it's just a small section who have become very loud unfortunately.' Ferdinand sent his best wishes to Madueke and challenged the forward to prove his doubters wrong. 'I just hope Noni Madueke rams all of this negativity back down the throats of these imposters. 'Whatever happens from here, good luck Noni.' Will Madueke be a success at Arsenal? Having been part of Chelsea's FIFA Club World Cup squad - leaving before the final after deciding to move to the Emirates - he is now set for his summer break before linking up with his new team-mates at the end of the month. 'I'm somebody who goes with my gut feeling a lot of the time and I feel like it's steered me in the right direction so far," Madueke said. "So, I don't think it's going to be any different here. I think it's going to be a great success and I'm really happy to be here. 'I've just been relaxed, waiting for the green light and when I came in today, it all felt real. 'I'm really happy to be a part of the Arsenal family now. 'I'm very happy, very excited to get to work. I'll go on holiday for a little bit now, but I can't wait to get back and meet all the boys and train. I was saying it to all my friends walking around here, you don't even want to take the rest. I know I have to for my body and stuff to heal, but when I come back, I'll be raring to go.' Sporting Director Andrea Berta said: "We're very pleased to have concluded an excellent deal for a hugely talented young player in Noni Madueke. Noni's performance numbers and availability over recent seasons have been exceptional, reflecting his quality and professionalism. Noni is a dynamic, versatile wide forward player with strong technical ability who will significantly strengthen our squad. 'Noni already has valuable experience at the top level and we know he will make a big impact at Arsenal. Together with everyone at the club, we warmly welcome Noni to Arsenal." Mikel Arteta said: "We're all so happy to welcome Noni Madueke to the team. Noni is an exciting and powerful young player, with his performances and numbers in recent seasons being of consistently high quality. He is one of the most talented wide forward players in the Premier League. 'At just 23, Noni already brings experience of club and international football, and he knows the Premier League very well. Having seen the quality of Noni's performances up close in recent seasons, we're really excited he is joining us. 'Noni joins our group with familiar England teammates and other players he knows. He will be made to feel at home straight away. His arrival will really improve our squad - we're all thrilled to have him here. From all of us, welcome Noni and welcome to your family.'
