Madani Rahmah Sales allocation doubled to RM600 million

KUALA LUMPUR: The allocation for the Madani Rahmah Sales programme has been doubled to RM600 million this year, compared to RM300 million previously, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said. He said the increased funding would enable more frequent sales and an expanded number of locations across all 600 state constituencies. "This also includes a wider variety of goods to provide more choices for the people," he said in his special announcement for Malaysians streamed live on national televisions and social media platforms today Anwar added that grassroots Madani initiatives would continue to be intensified, in line with the government's emphasis on community-level efforts that directly benefit the public. Under the Sejati Madani programme, up to RM100,000 is channelled to each community, giving them the autonomy to plan and implement income-generating activities. To date, the programme has supported more than 8,600 community-based economic projects at the village level. Anwar also highlighted the expansion of the Madani Adopted Village initiative, which has grown from 40 participating villages to 200 this year. In addition, the government has launched the Madani Adopted School programme to help ensure children receive quality education. Dismissive attitude towards Borneo Bloc led to political shift: Hajiji

He recalled a meeting in Kuala Lumpur with Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun and Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan where a senior federal leader dismissed the idea of a united Sabah and Sarawak voice. According to Hajiji, the leader's comment, declaring himself as 'the Master,' signalled a clear disregard for the Borneo Bloc's aspirations and Sabah's role in shaping its future. Speaking during the Gagasan Rakyat AGM on Sunday, Hajiji, who is also Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Chairman and Gagasan Rakyat President, said the incident led to deep reflection and eventually convinced him that change was needed for the sake of Sabah. He said the Unity Government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had taken Sabah's longstanding concerns seriously, particularly those related to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). Hajiji stressed that GRS backs the current government because it respects Sabah's dignity and has begun to deliver on long-overdue commitments such as the devolution of powers. MOF Warns of RM100 SARA Aid Scam Links
The Finance Ministry (MOF) has clarified that recipients of the one-off RM100 SARA aid do not need to register, amid growing concerns over scam links and misinformation spreading online. Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying said the aid will be automatically credited to all eligible MyKad holders aged 18 and above starting Aug 31, and any claims that users must sign up through online portals are false and potentially dangerous. 'We've received numerous inquiries and complaints about fake websites and links related to RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid registration. 'Let me be clear, these are scams. Do not click on or share them,' Lim emphasised, while stressing that no application is needed as the aid will be directly credited to recipients' MyKad. On July 23, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that a one-off RM100 SARA cash aid that will be credited via MyKad to all Malaysians aged 18 and above. This part of broader Madani government initiatives, which also include toll hike postponements and a RON95 fuel price cut to RM1.99 per litre later this year. Lim added that in the event eligible individuals do not receive the payment by Aug 31, the government will provide follow-up information and guidance. Meanwhile, Lim also revealed that the government is reviewing proposals to include wet goods such as chicken, fish and meat under the SARA programme. 'The consideration is part of ongoing efforts to align the programme with real consumer needs, especially among lower-income households. 'We're open to feedback. Any expansion will be thoroughly studied in consultation with relevant stakeholders, including the recipients themselves,' she said. As of May 1, the SARA programme covers 14 categories of essential goods, including food, medicine, hygiene products, school supplies and household cleaning items, amounting to over 90,000 eligible products nationwide. The MOF urges Malaysians to rely only on official government channels for accurate updates and to report suspicious messages or websites related to the aid. Related
