Award-winning ITV drama confirms next series will be the last in blow set to leave fans ‘in tears' - and filming for the final episode has already kicked off

Daily Mail23-06-2025
ITV has announced that one of their hit series will be coming to an end after its third season.
First airing in 2022, The Dry follows the life and family of Shiv Sheridan (Roisin Gallagher), a woman recovering from alcoholism who returns home to Dublin after 10 unsuccessful years as an artist in London.
Shiv, 35, is faced with moving back in with her family, all of whom are big drinkers, and are skeptical of her decision to go 'dry'.
The series is the brainchild of Irish writer Nancy Harris, who was inspired to write a series that would reconnect her with her Irish identity.
She was supported in production by similarly Dublin-born director Paddy Breathnach, who has directed every single episode.
The show was initially broadcast on RTÉ One, but was moved to ITV for the second season after its huge popularity.
'Relatable, dark, despicable, yet abundantly human characters. The dry has everything you want from a dramedy and it's full of Irish craic.' Wrote one reviewer on IMDB.
'Shiv and her fellow Sheridan clan are a fantastic Portrayal of ordinary Vs extraordinary and how trauma can creep up on us. This series had me roaring with laughter and crying real tears. Can't wait to see more.'
But the Irish comedy-drama will come to an end after the release of the third season, Harris has confirmed, in a statement reflecting on the show.
'It has been a true joy to see audiences embrace the Sheridan family in all their dysfunctional glory' she said.
'I am so grateful to have gotten to tell this story over three seasons.'
'The third and final season aims to go deeper than ever before, really getting under the skin of Shiv and the family in a way that we hope is both surprising, funny and (painfully) honest,' she concluded.
Achieving an impressive 94% Rotten Tomatoes score, The Dry has been praised for its authenticity, humour and intelligence.
Filming is currently underway for the third and final season of the show, which is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
The new season will see the return of the original cast, IFTA nominee Siobhán Cullen (Caroline), Adam Richardson (Ant), Oscar nominee Ciarán Hinds(Tom), Pom Boyd(Bernie), Moe Dunford(Jack)and Eoin Duffy(Rory).
Season 3 is said to unearth a huge secret that changes the course of destiny for the Sheridans. But will their fragile family infrastructure shatter under the impact, or become stronger and more durable?
'It's going to be a wild ride' says Nancy Harris, 'and we can't wait to share it with our audience.'

Laura Anderson reveals marriage and baby plans with Scots boyfriend Clark Robertson

Laura Anderson and Clark Robertson only went public with their relationship in October last year but they have already discussed their future together Laura Anderson rose to fame as a contestant on Love Island seven years ago and since then the Scottish influencer's love life has played out in the public eye. Making it all the way to the final with her villa lover Paul Knops, the pair split just a few months after leaving the ITV show and Laura went on to date Love Island 2015 winner Max Morley. However, it was not meant to be with the pair and things in Laura's life changed forever when she started dating Hollyoaks actor Gary Lucy after meeting him on Celebs Go Dating. Laura fell pregnant just five months into their relationship and the pair shocked fans when they announced their split, shortly after announcing they were expecting their first child together. ‌ The 36-year-old now shares her one-year-old daughter Bonnie with Gary Lucy, although she has taken several public digs at him after claiming she is a "single parent". One of which came on Father's Day last month when she took to her Instagram Stories to write: "Cheers to the single mums who feel sh*t for their kids on Father's Day." ‌ However, the Scots star has now moved on and is back in love with her new man - Dundee FC player Clark Robertson. Laura and Clark went public last October and the former Capital Radio host appears to be happier than ever with her new beau, so much so that marriage and kids may even be on the cards. Clark, has his own two kids, eight-year-old son Cole and a five-year-old daughter named Mimi, who he shares with his ex fiancé Karla Ray. Laura has now opened up about the possibility of having more children with the Aberdeen born star and Clark's relationship with Bonnie. ‌ Speaking to Closer, Laura said: "Well, it pulls at the ovaries a little bit! But we're not ready to go there just yet. "I didn't meet his kids until we'd been together for about nine months but he met Bonnie quite quickly because she was a baby she didn't know what was going on and she was with me all the time so we couldn't really not. "We waited a little while for me to meet his kids because they're a bit older. It's so nice seeing him with his kids, it makes a man more attractive when you see their caring side. He's a really good dad." ‌ While the pair seemed to have planned to have more kids in the future, it doesn't seem this will be happening any time soon. Laura said: "We both said that we wanted to meet somebody who already had kids. When you put your children first you hope that the next person you meet understands that. "We both said on the first date that we wanted more children but not right now. "Bonnie's a lot to handle and we've just started our new life together, so we'll give it a little bit of time before we jump into that – with a ring first!" Hinting that she wants to tie the knot before becoming a mum again, Laura added: "I just want what everybody wants, it would be nice to be married."
