Since its debut on ITV in 2009, The Chase has become a staple of British quiz shows. Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the high-speed game sees contestants trying to outwit 'The Chaser' for a cash prize.
As of June 2025, there are six official Chasers: Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis. Each Chaser has their own moniker and has gained fame since the show's inception, also featuring in the ITV spin-off, Beat the Chasers.
But the burning question remains: who is the ultimate Chaser on TV?
New research by Betway has scrutinised factors such as accuracy, win rate, and highest target caught, to determine the best Chaser of all time. Financially, Paul Sinha emerges victorious.
Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha boasts a 78 per cent win rate across 436 appearances on The Chase. His average target to beat stands at 19 and he holds the highest average Chaser win total, raking in £14,651, making him the most financially successful chaser on the show, reports the Express.
Meanwhile, Mark 'The Beast' Labbett has a 76 per cent win rate over 475 episodes since his start in 2009. Labbett holds the record for the highest average target to beat, at 20, and the highest accuracy in the final chase, answering 83% of questions correctly.
Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty has been crowned the top Chaser on television. With 467 appearances and a win rate of 79% - the joint highest of any Chaser - it's no wonder she's seen as the most formidable opponent.
In the final chase, Hegerty averages 13 correct answers within the 60-second timeframe, with an average target of 19, the second highest among her peers.

Good Morning Britain's Ed Balls shares exciting career news 'I've never done this before'

Ed Balls was back on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, with the former Labour MP sharing some big news away from the ITV programme about his career. During Thursday's (24 July) episode of Good Morning Britain, presenter Ed Balls made a significant announcement about his future endeavours. Ed returned to the ITV show with co-host Charlotte Hawkins, delivering the day's news and headlines to viewers. ‌ In the midst of GMB's entertainment segment, hosted by Melvin Odoom, Ed disclosed some thrilling news regarding his latest project outside of the show, though he confessed to feeling "nervous". ‌ "Ed Balls is heading to the West End!" exclaimed an enthusiastic Melvin. "So, your band Centrist Dad is going to be one of the guest acts for the show Wilko - Love and Death and Rock 'n' Roll. What is going on, Ed?!" ‌ Ed then divulged details about his forthcoming performance and invited people to attend the event, reports the Mirror. "Friday night, seven o'clock, Leicester Square Theatre. It's a brilliant show about Wilko Johnson from Dr. Feelgood," explained Ed. "Very moving, very emotional story." ‌ He elaborated on his role for the evening, saying: "They have a guest act at the end. Me, and Robert Peston, John Wilson and Chris Taylor, all coming on at the end to play two songs. They are called She Does It Right and All Through The City." Despite only having practised the songs for three days, Ed confided in Charlotte that he is "very nervous" about performing in the West End. Melvin queried: "You're not going to become a big star and leave us are you?" to which Ed gave the comforting response: "No! I think the chances of that are slim!". ‌ In 2023, Ed teamed up with journalist Robert Peston and broadcaster John Wilson to form the band Centrist dad. Ed is on the drums, Robert takes the lead with vocals, and John is on bass guitar. Their repertoire includes covers from iconic bands such as The Who, The Cure, and ABBA, all in an effort to support Action for Stammering Children and Speakers for Schools. ‌ Centrist dad has been active on the gig circuit in recent times, gracing stages at venues like The Water Rats in London and keeping their followers updated via social media about forthcoming gigs and fresh tracks. Following their latest performance at The Water Rats, Ed took to Instagram to express his gratitude, writing: "We had such a brilliant night at The Water Rats on Thursday - thanks so much to everyone who came and helped us raise money for Action for Stammering Children and Speakers for Schools." He continued: "We did Eurythmics, The Who, ABBA, The Cure and tons more, but the audience reaction to The Killers and Charli XCX was something else. We loved it ! #CentristDad."

The Assassin's Keeley Hawes' life off-screen including real name

The Assassin star Keeley Hawes has had a successful acting career and is known for her roles in shows such as The Durrells, Bodyguard and Line of Duty The Assassin is coming to Prime Video and the high-octane thriller follows Julie and her estranged son Eddie (played by Freddie Highmore) as their relationship is put to the test in the ultimate fight for survival. ‌ Star Keeley Hawes portrays a former hitwoman now residing in Greece, and when her son arrives for a visit, he's desperate for answers about his father's identity and his mum's mysterious past. ‌ Both mother and son find themselves in mortal peril as Julie's dark history begins to resurface and long-buried secrets come to light. Hawes recently made a rare family admission ahead of the show's release. ‌ The 49 year old star was born in Paddington, London, as the baby of four siblings, spending her formative years in a council flat in Marylebone until age 16. Despite her worldwide recognition under her stage moniker, she was actually christened Clare Julia Hawes, reports the Express. ‌ In a candid chat with The Times about her upbringing, she revealed details about life alongside her elder brothers, Keith and Jamie, plus older sister, Joanne. "My mum was very house-proud — if we had any spare money, it would go on decorating," she said. "The result was hilarious. We had lots of authentic brassware around a fireplace, but you could clearly see it was an electric fire. ‌ "She was quite partial to terrible little figurines on top of the television cabinet. She also loved animals - we had a standard poodle, Becky, and a big white Persian cat." She reflected on her modest origins, explaining: "My parents weren't well-heeled, and it must have been a struggle bringing up four children, but we were never on the breadline. ‌ "In those days, people didn't go on big holidays. Every year or so, we went to Cornwall for a couple of weeks, in the taxi, or we'd go on day trips - and always end up in Brighton." When she reached nine years old, her mum and dad asked whether she fancied attending Sylvia Young's theatre school which had just opened close by. She had relished performing in school productions and it seemed like an obvious path to pursue. ‌ It was at this establishment where she would forge friendships with former Spice Girl Emma Bunton and actress Kellie Bright. Hawes initially burst onto the scene during the 1990s following several supporting appearances in Troublemakers, Karaoke and The Beggar Bride. Her debut cinema performance came in The Avengers in 1998, where she portrayed Tamara. The Assassin airs on Prime Video on July 25
