Independent13 hours ago
The 2025 Tour de France will be the 112th edition of the race, as Tadej Pogacar aims to defend the yellow jersey and win the fourth Tour of his career.
The route begins in Lille, Normandy before making a clockwise route around France, via the Pyrenees and then the Alps, before the finale in Paris. The race will return to its roots with all 21 stages taking place in its homeland, the first exclusively French Tour for five years.
This will be the last year that the famous race is shown live on free-to-air TV in the UK, for the forseeable future, after TNT Sports bought exclusive rights.
Here is everything you need to know about how to watch the race.
When does the Tour de France start?
The race begins with the Grand Depart in Lille on Saturday 5 July. Stage one is a flat route set up for the sprinters to contest for victory and the yellow jersey.
When does it end?
This year's Tour ends on the Champs-Elysees on 27 July, with the intriguing addition of three loops of Montmatre, with a short, sharp climb to mix up the usual procession to the home straight.
How to watch
The 2025 Tour de France will be broadcast live on ITV4 in the UK, in what is the last year of free-to-air coverage of the race before it is exclusively shown on TNT Sports and Discovery+.
Viewers can also stream the race online via ITVX app and website, and subscribers can watch the action on the TNT Sports and Discovery+ apps.
Highlights
Each stage will packaged into hourly highlights shows on ITV4, typically starting at around 7pm BST. The highlights can be streamed on ITVX with the website and app.

Giroud returns to French football with Lille after leaving LAFC

France's all-time top scorer Olivier Giroud has signed a one-year deal with Lille after leaving Major League Soccer side Los Angeles means Giroud, who played his final game for LAFC on 30 June and turns 39 in September, will return to the French top flight for the first time in 13 years. Giroud, who helped Montpellier win the 2011-12 Ligue 1 title before departing for Arsenal, said: "I'm very happy and excited to be back in France, home."It made perfect sense to return to Ligue 1, 13 years after leaving it. I've always considered Lille a top French club."It's a young and talented squad, which needs experienced players like me. So I'll also be there in that role."Giroud spent six seasons with the Gunners, scoring 105 goals, and helped the north London club win the FA Cup on three switch to Chelsea brought a further FA Cup triumph and he was part of the Blues squad that lifted the Europa and Champions League joined LAFC last summer after helping AC Milan win the Scudetto in 2022 but struggled to make an impact in the US, scoring just five goals in 37 games in all retired from international football last year with a record 57 goals in 137 appearances for his country, having played in the side that won the 2018 World Cup.

Joe Rothwell transfer timeline revealed as Rangers ready to announce second summer signing

And the Bournemouth midfielder wants to pledge allegiance to the dark blue of Scotland as well as the light blue of Rangers. Speaking in April, he said: 'I'm more than open to the idea of playing for Scotland. My gran was Scottish and she would be really proud if I was to do that.' Rothwell is expected to pen a three-year deal and follows defender Max Aarons, who joined Gers on loan from the Cherries last week. The midfielder is signing for an undisclosed fee and had his medical on Tuesday — with his arrival in Glasgow expected to be confirmed on Wednesday. Rothwell is a product of the Manchester United academy, and made the switch to Bournemouth from Blackburn in 2022. He joined Martin's Southampton side on loan — helping them to the Premier League in season 2023-24. It's understood Rothwell snubbed several offers from La Liga to hook up with his former boss at Ibrox. The Rangers gaffer is ramping up recruitment with experienced defender Conor Coady wanted from Leicester City. Hamza Igamane is on the brink of a £15million switch to Lille, and Gers are now stepping up their search for a replacement striker. Israeli ace Dor Turgeman remains their top target. Former Rangers owner Sir David Murray vows to save Dalzell steel mill with masterplan Reports claim the Ibrox side are willing to meet Maccabi Tel Aviv's asking price of just over £4m, with the 21-year-old keen to move to Glasgow. As we revealed last Sunday, Lille have upped the ante in their pursuit of Igamane, with a deal now close. Gers swooped for the Moroccan international in a deal worth £1.7m last summer. He hit 16 goals for the Ibrox side last season. His outstanding display against Nice in the Europa League caught the eye of clubs across Europe, but Lille are now closing in on a deal for Igamane. Cyriel Dessers is on the brink of a move to AEK Athens. Feyenoord have also been linked with last season's top scorer — but reports in Greece on Tuesday claim AEK are preparing their final push to land the front man. Boss Martin is also continuing to track Croat forward Matija Frigan. Meanwhile, Gers are set to bring in former Arsenal goalkeeper coach Sal Bibbo to work with Jack Butland and Liam Kelly. 3 SunSport understands Bibbo, who has been working at Sheffield Wednesday, is the man Martin wants for the job. He only had two permanent staff members with him when he was appointed head coach in June — his long-term assistant Matt Gill and also performance coach Rhys Owen. Bibbo, who spent a year on Arsenal's staff, is free to move after the expiry of his contract at crisis club Wednesday. There's still room for more coaching input on Martin's backroom team — with Issame Charai departing last month to manage Belgian outfit Westerlo. A former pro keeper himself, Bibbo played for the likes of Sheffield United, Bath City and Havant and Waterlooville. Mbappe makes Club World Cup debut as Frenchman's return provides boost for Xabi Alonso's Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe made his Club World Cup debut in the 1-0 win over Juventus on Tuesday, with the Frenchman providing a reminder of what he can bring to Xabi Alonso 's changing Real Madrid side. Mbappe came on for Gonzalo Garcia in the 68th minute of the match in Miami, with the latter having opened the scoring not long before with a brilliant header. The Madrid academy product has thrived when given the opportunity under the absence of Mbappe, but the Frenchman made his return and was energetic throughout, linking up well with Vinicius Jr in attack and almost prodding home from one of the Brazilian's crosses. The cameo also marked Mbappe's first appearance under Alonso, who is four games into his role as Madrid manger, with the 26-year-old obviously forming a key part of the Spaniard's plans going forward. Mbappe featured as the striker for much of his cameo as Alonso moved from a 3-5-2 to a 3-4-3, with this role likely familiar to Mbappe after last season. Though the fact remains that he is probably not a natural number nine, there were few complaints with Mbappe's first term, with the World Cup winner having scored 43 goals in all competitions. Nevertheless, it is notable that Madrid started with more of a 3-5-2 formation, so the Frenchman may be expected to play alongside Vini Jr as one of two strikers at certain points in a formation that could help him share some of the goalscoring burden. Mbappe was understandably not 100 per cent sharp, having recently been hospitalised with gastroenteritis, but took up good positions on several occasions, though his teammates failed to find him. It remains to be seen whether he will start in the quarter-final, whoever that may be against, but fans will be excited to see how he fits in to a new-look Madrid side having won the European Golden Boot for 2024/25. Madrid will face either Borussia Dortmund or Monterrey in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup on Saturday, 5 July.
