In Barbie, Ryan Gosling's job was 'beach.' Now, in his new film Project Hail Mary, it's 'space.' The science fiction movie from Amazon MGM Studios is officially coming to theaters next spring. Here's everything we know so far about the film.
Project Hail Mary is an adaptation of the 2021 novel of the same name by Andy Weir, who also wrote The Martian. The story follows a sixth-grade science teacher-turned-astronaut, Ryland Grace (Gosling), who is reluctantly sent to space to save the world in a project called Hail Mary. The film is co-directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street) and adapted for the screen by Drew Goddard (The Martian).
Ryan Gosling leads the film and also serves as a producer. The supporting cast includes Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall), Lionel Boyce (The Bear), Liz Kingsman (F1), Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us), and Ken Leung (Industry).
It'll hit theaters and IMAX on March 20, 2026.
Yes! On June 30, Amazon MGM Studios released the official trailer.
At CinemaCon in April, Gosling spoke about Project Hail Mary alongside directors Lord and Miller. '[We] fell in love with a book by Andy Weir and then the world did the same,' he said. 'It's an insanely ambitious story that's massive in scope and seemed really hard to make and that's kind of our bag.'
About working with the duo, he added, '[They] have a singular vision which is weird because there's two of them. They are only happy if they make you do the very rare and coveted laugh cry.'
He also spoke about his character. 'He goes on such a journey as you can see, and this is why you go to the movies,' he said. 'I'm not just saying it because I'm in it, because I'm a producer on it as well.'
This story will be updated.

Dee Hsu's second daughter holds first solo art exhibition

1 Jul- While her mother is still taking a break from the limelight, Dee Hsu's second daughter Lily Hsu recently held her first solo art exhibition in Taipei. On 29 June, Lily unveiled her series of artworks called "Prey of Prey", which revolves around the imagination of "pseudo-utopia" and is inspired by the movie "Black Swan". Among the paintings she exhibited include "Barbie", which was named after her late aunt, who passed away in February. She stated that she began working on the painting around Lunar New Year and completed it in May. Saying that Barbie used to call her "treasure girl" and was always the first to praise her artwork, Lily said, "She made me feel that as long as I stayed true to myself, everything would be okay." As for Dee's most favourite painting, Lily said that it was the one called "Hungry Girl". "One night, my mum opened my bedroom door and saw the painting. She said, 'Oh my God, your aunt would absolutely love this.' The two of us curled up in front of it, crying and talking for a long time." Dee herself attended the exhibition with husband Mike as a VVIP, wearing a black long coat, a white top and blue jeans. She was later seen going out with good friend, Christine Fan. Ryan Gosling reluctantly goes to space in 'Project Hail Mary' trailer

Ryan Gosling puts the "not" in "Astronaut" in the new trailer for "Project Hail Mary." The upcoming sci-fi film, based on Andy Weir's novel of the same name, stars Gosling as middle school teacher turned reluctant astronaut Ryland Grace, who's tasked with saving humanity from the effects of a dimming sun. However, when he wakes up from a coma as the sole survivor aboard a spaceship, he must overcome his amnesia to remember where he is and why he was sent there. Read more: Ryan Gosling and Greta Gerwig on how Ken became the subversive center of 'Barbie' 'It's an insanely ambitious story that's massive in scope and it seemed really hard to make, and that's kind of our bag,' Gosling said of "Project Hail Mary" at CinemaCon in April, where he debuted footage from the film, according to Variety. 'This is why we go to the movies. And I'm not just saying it because I'm in it. I'm also saying it because I'm a producer on the film.' The trailer, released Monday by Amazon MGM Studios, opens with Gosling startling awake on the spacecraft, his hair and beard uncharacteristically long. "I'm several light-years from my apartment," he proclaims, "and I'm not an astronaut." It then jolts back in time to show Grace pre-launch as he learns from Eva Stratt (Sandra Hüller) that if he does not journey into space, everything on Earth will go extinct. According to Stratt, who heads the mission, Grace is the only scientist who might understand what is happening to the sun and surrounding stars. The trailer, which progresses through an intense montage set to Harry Styles' "Sign of the Times," teases Gosling's signature humor. "I can't even moonwalk!" the "Barbie" actor declares at one point. (Gosling portrayed moonwalker Neil Armstrong in another recent space movie, Damien Chazelle's "First Man.") The film, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, marks the second book-to-movie adaptation for Weir, whose novel "The Martian" became an Oscar-nominated 2015 blockbuster starring Matt Damon. An adaptation for his book "Artemis" is also in development with the same directing team. "Project Hail Mary" hits theaters March 20. Ryan Gosling stars in 'Project Hail Mary': See trailer, cast, release date

Ryan Gosling is humanity's last chance for survival in the upcoming film "Project Hail Mary." Based on Andy Weir's epic sci-fi adventure novel, Amazon MGM Studios' latest movie adaptation stars the three-time Oscar nominee as a middle school teacher who is sent to space as the world comes to an end. As the trailer posted Monday, June 30 shows, middle school teacher Ryland Grace, played by Gosling, must see if humanity can survive somewhere else in space after the sun and every other star begins to die for unknown reasons. In space, he discovers and befriends an extraterrestrial being he names Rocky. Despite having no experience as a astronaut, Gosling's character is understandably out of his depth, telling officials, "I put the not in astronaut. I've never done anything. I've never done a space walk. I can't even moonwalk. " "It's an insanely ambitious story, expansive in scope," Gosling said in April during a CinemaCon presentation. "Literally, we tried to put it on a TV once. It didn't fit." Moviegoers can expect to see familiar faces, including Academy-Award nominee Sandra Hüller, "The Bear" actor Lionel Boyce and "Industry" star Ken Leung.
