PSG's pursuit of Lucas Chevalier hits stumbling block

Yahoo6 days ago
Lucas Chevalier (23) has reportedly already agreed to a five-year contract with reigning Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain. However, the capital club's negotiations with Lille OSC have stalled.
According to a report from L'Équipe, Lille warned PSG during negotiations that they would only sanction a departure for the France international once they had signed his replacement. The club are keen to avoid a similar scenario to when Mike Maignan left for AC Milan, which saw Léo Jardim and Ivo Grbić fail to fill the void.
Lille have made multiple approaches in the last few days, but appear to have missed out on Robin Roefs (22), who is close to joining Sunderland AFC. However, the Dutch U21 reportedly was not at the top of Lille's shortlist, which also includes Toulouse FC's Guillaume Restes, Olympique de Marseille's Jeffrey de Lange, and Tottenham Hotspur's Antonín Kinský.

Ivan Zazzaroni: Inter Milan To Make Atalanta New Cash + Player Offer For Ademola Lookman

Atalanta wantaway star Ademola Lookman is inching ever closer to joining Inter Milan after an exhausting transfer saga. According to Ivan Zazzaroni, the director of Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, the player has left Bergamo. It's now a near-certainty that Ademola Lookman will not play for Atalanta next season. Despite the club's reluctance to lose another star player after selling Mateo Retegui, Lookman has other plans. Indeed, the 27-year-old is hellbent on joining the San Siro club by the end of the summer. Furthermore, he has already made his intentions clear by refusing to take part in pre-season training. On top of that, he has removed all social media posts in the Atalanta shirt. However, Lookman's actions have not fazed La Dea, who are seemingly sticking to their guns. They won't sell their prize asset for less than €50 million. As such, they've already turned down two offers from Inter, including a €45 million bid last time out. (Photo by) Despite two failed attempts, Inter won't give up on their hopes of signing the former RB Leipzig star. On the contrary, they're piecing together a new offer that will reportedly include a counterpart. Indeed, Inter are hoping that a player-plus-cash bid would change Atalanta's mind. 'Inter are ready to offer €46–47 million plus a youngster for Lookman,' Zazzaroni claims. 'This will truly be their final offer. 'The player has physically left Bergamo, and at the moment, no one knows where he is.' Furthermore, Zazzaroni insists the relationship between the clubs remains phenomenal. 'The relationship between Inter and Atalanta remains excellent. 'Inter are now waiting for a response from Percassi and are willing to go up to €50 million – but not a cent more – including a young player as part of the deal.'

Zamalek abandons the idea of signing Percy Tau: What exactly happened?

Zamalek abandons the idea of signing Percy Tau: What exactly happened? Zamalek SC has abruptly withdrawn from negotiations to sign South African forward Percy Tau, abruptly ending what appeared to be an imminent transfer deal. Africafoot can exclusively reveal the Cairo giants terminated talks after balking at Tau's financial demands - a staggering $900,000 signing bonus that club officials deemed economically unfeasible. The 30-year-old free agent, recently departed from Qatar SC, had verbally agreed to join the White Knights. His pedigree seemed ideal: a productive 2021-2024 stint at Al Ahly (90 appearances, 18 goals, 14 assists) that included 2023 CAF Champions League glory, preceded by Premier League experience with Brighton. But Zamalek's dire financial reality - compounded by Egypt's economic crisis - rendered Tau's expectations unrealistic. Club insiders confirm they're now pursuing more affordable attacking options, leaving the well-traveled striker to reconsider his options after this collapsed homecoming to African football.

RB Leipzig contact Liverpool over Harvey Elliott transfer

RB Leipzig have contacted Liverpool over the potential signing of Harvey Elliott. While talks are not currently at an advanced stage, discussions between the clubs are ongoing. The Athletic reported on July 1 that Leipzig were among the clubs interested in a move for Elliott, with Liverpool placing a transfer valuation for the midfielder in excess of £40million plus a buy-back option, or above £50m without one. Advertisement Leipzig believe the 22-year-old would be a direct replacement for Xavi Simons, who could leave the German club in the closing weeks of the transfer window. The Athletic reported on July 29 that Leipzig were in discussions with Chelsea over the potential sale of Dutch international Simons; the 22-year-old scored 10 Bundesliga goals and provided six assists in 2024-25. Elliott started just two Premier League matches for Liverpool in 2024-25, both of which came after Arne Slot's side has already secured the title. He made 28 appearances in total over all competitions, registering five goals and three assists. The central midfielder said in June that he was wary of 'wasting years of my career' due to his lack of game-time at Anfield. 'Nothing makes me want to leave,' Elliott said. 'I love the club, I love the fans, the team. I support them as well. But as I said, most importantly, it's just about what's best for my career.' Elliott was Player of the Tournament at this summer's Under-21 European Championship, as England sealed a second successive title with victory over Germany in June's final. The midfielder scored five goals, including one in the final and two in the semi-final defeat of the Netherlands, as one of only two England players who was a member of both the victorious 2023 and 2025 squads under Lee Carsley. Elliott has made 147 appearances for Liverpool since signing from Fulham in 2019, and spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Blackburn Rovers. The England Under-21 international has won six trophies during his time at Anfield. Additional reporting from David Ornstein (TOMAS BENEDIKOVIC/AFP via Getty Images)
