India to host T20 World Cup 2026 with Sri Lanka, teams that have qualified are...
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) are the joint hosts of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 set to take place early next year. Although India were supposed to be the sole hosts of the tournament, but with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) refusing tour India and vice-versa, their matches will presumably take place in Sri Lanka along with possibly the semi-final and final if they qualify.
The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 was the biggest-ever tournament featuring a mammoth 20 teams for the first time ever which India went on to win in the Caribbean. Defending champions and co-hosts Team India and Sri Lanka are the automatic qualifiers for the tournament which will once again be a 20-team affair.
Joining the group of automatic qualifiers from 2024, Canada booked their ticket for a return in 2026, thanks to their win at the recently-concluded Americas Regional Final on home soil. The Canadians completed an undefeated run on their road to India and Sri Lanka, brushing off the likes of Bermuda, Bahamas, and the Cayman Islands.

— ICC (@ICC) July 1, 2025 How many matches will the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 have?
The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is once again going to be 55-match affair, and the tournament will be played out in the same format, with four groups of five, before two Super 8 groups, semi-finals and a final to crown the next champion. Rohit Sharma-led Team India had defeated South Africa in the final to win the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados.
Before that though, the final seven teams for the tournament need to be decided across the remaining three regional finals. Which teams have already qualified for the T20 World Cup 2026?
As hosts, Sri Lanka and India take up the first two spots for 2026. From there, the next 10 spots were determined by Super 8 qualifiers at the 2024 edition and ICC men's T20I Team Rankings at the June 30, 2024 cut-off date.
Thanks to their strong opening round performance and entry to the Super Eights, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa and the West Indies all secured T20 World Cup 2026 spots, as well as USA, who upstaged Pakistan in a Super Over to steal a Second Round spot in Group A.
Despite missing out on the Super 8, Pakistan secured their place at the next edition thanks to their T20I ranking, alongside New Zealand and Ireland.
Joining Canada will be the final seven entrants for the 2026 edition via the three remaining regional qualifiers.

USOPC calls for immediate resignation of USA cricket board
in Birmingham: The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has urged all independent directors of USA Cricket (USAC) to resign with immediate effect, paving the way for a wholesale leadership overhaul. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In an email reviewed by David Patterson, senior governance adviser to the USOPC, told USAC chief executive Jonathan Atkeison that the committee wants every independent board member to step down so that 'new independent members can be appointed to replace them.' Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. According to people familiar with the talks, the International Cricket Council (ICC) supports the USOPC's assessment. Members of the ICC's normalisation committee attended the recent meetings in Los Angeles with USOPC officials, USAC chair Venu Pisike and Atkeison, where the need for a 'clean slate' was underscored. In his correspondence, Patterson outlined seven next steps and stressed that the USOPC 'will remain involved and engaged throughout this process and beyond.' Atkeison, responding to the email, warned the board that unless the USOPC's conditions are met, the committee will not open the application window for recognising a national governing body for cricket — effectively barring USAC from overseeing Olympic cricket in the United States. Referring to previous discussions, Patterson added that partial fixes 'just don't work' and that a full leadership reset is 'by far the best course of action.' Major League Cricket 2025 Explained: Teams, Schedule & Where to Watch Atkeison has circulated Patterson's message to the entire USAC board, noting that the only new element is a willingness by USOPC and ICC officials to 'jointly construct the initial slate of independent director candidates.' sought comment from Pisike and board members Srini Salver and Anj Balusu, but none had responded at the time of publication. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now This story will be updated when they do. Sources say several directors are prepared to resign, while Pisike and Salver are resisting pressure to do so. In fact, despite the communication, one board members claims they have received no formal communication from the ICC, despite the governing body's recent meetings with USOPC and USAC leadership. The USOPC's intervention adds to mounting pressure on USA Cricket, which has faced repeated scrutiny over governance and financial management since its formation in 2018.

India Women Create History Against England, Become First Team In The World To...
Last Updated: India created a new world record in international cricket history by taking 9 successive wickets for then fewest runs. The Indian women cricket suffered their first defeat of the ongoing England tour on Friday with their hosts managing to keep the five-match T20I series alive at The Oval. Chasing 171, India were limited to 166 in 20 overs as England won by five runs to cut down the Harmanpreet Kaur-led tourist's lead to 1-2. England though could have ended up with a much bigger total had India not created a new world record of taking the fewest ball in international cricket history – men and women – to take 9 wickets. England were cruising at 137/0 in 15.1 overs and seemed destined for a big total when Deepti Sharma left everything to her own to give India their first breakthrough in the form of Sophia Dunkley (75 off 53). That dismissal triggered a dramatic collapse. England lost their 9 wickets in the space of just 25 deliveries which is now an international record. During this phase, they added just 31 runs. 10 wickets for 0 Earlier this year during a Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier match in Bangkok, UAE retired all their 10 batters after reaching 192/0 in 16 overs against Qatar. This was the first time in men/women T20I history that a team has retired more than two batters in an innings. UAE's decision meant they had as many as eight ducks. With Qatar then being skittled for 29, the total number of ducks recorded during the contest went up to 15 – the most in women's T20I history. 300 Wickets For Deepti India allrounder Deepti Sharma returned bowling figures of 3/27 from four overs and with that, she took her wickets tally to 300 across formats at international level, becoming the sixth bowler to do so. Fast bowling legend Jhulan Goswami (355) holds the record for most wickets in women's international cricket history followed by Katherine Sciver-Brunt (335), Ellyse Perry (331), Shabnim Ismail (317) and Anisa Mohammed (305). England Stay Alive The series is alive after England's win five-run win. Dunkley won player-of-the-match award for her brilliant half-century at the top of the batting order. She struck seven fours and a six during her stay. The fourth match will be held on July 9 at Old Trafford in Manchester. About the Author Cricketnext Staff First Published: July 05, 2025, 07:25 IST

IND vs ENG 2025: Double Milestone! Yashasvi Jaiswal scripts history, breaks Sunil Gavaskar's 49-year-old record
India's Yashasvi Jaiswal bats on day three of the second Test at Edgbaston. (AP/PTI Photo) NEW DELHI: In a stunning display of flair and fearlessness, Yashasvi Jaiswal etched his name in cricketing folklore on Friday by becoming the joint-fastest Indian to reach 2,000 Test runs, alongside legends Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag. The 23-year-old southpaw reached the milestone during India's second innings on Day 3 of the gripping second Test against England at Edgbaston. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Jaiswal accomplished the feat in just his 40th Test innings, drawing level with Dravid and Sehwag and surpassing greats such as Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and Vijay Hazare. Akash Deep press conference: On replacing Jasprit Bumrah, message from Gautam Gambhir and more In terms of matches played, Jaiswal now stands alone - the fastest Indian ever to 2,000 Test runs, achieving the landmark in his 21st Test, eclipsing Gavaskar's long-standing record (23 Tests). Poll Which record of Jaiswal do you think is most significant? Fastest Indian to 2,000 Test runs. Second-youngest to reach the milestone. Consistency in his innings. His record against England. He reached the milestone with typical swagger - a thick edge wide of gully that flew away to the boundary. At just 23 years and 188 days, he also became the second-youngest Indian to reach the mark, behind only the immortal Tendulkar, who did it at 20 years and 330 days. Fewest innings to 2000 Test runs (India) 40 - R Dravid/ V Sehwag/ Y Jaiswal 43 - V Hazare/ G Gambhir 44 - S Gavaskar/ S Tendulkar 45 - S Ganguly 46 - C Pujara Jaiswal's innings was short but explosive - a 22-ball 28-run blitz featuring six crisply struck boundaries. But his cameo ended in controversy. Struck in front by Josh Tongue while attempting a booming drive, Jaiswal reviewed the LBW decision, only for England captain Ben Stokes to furiously argue that the DRS timer had expired. After a heated exchange with umpire Sharfuddoula, the review was accepted - and the decision stood as three reds sealed his fate. Earlier in the match, Jaiswal missed a richly-deserved century by just 13 runs in the first innings, falling for 87 after being deceived by Stokes. Still, his consistency and confidence continue to redefine India's batting template. For real-time updates, scores, and highlights, follow our live coverage of the India vs England Test match here .
