Dave Hughes labelled 'annoying' by Logies viewers after his 'painful' on-stage appearance

Daily Mail2 hours ago
Fans have taken to social media to slam Dave Hughes after his foul-mouthed appearance at Sunday's Logie Awards.
Taking the stage alongside fellow comedian and Logie winner Guy Montgomery to present the award for Best Telemovie or Miniseries, Hughes joked about how he had never won the coveted TV gong.
He also made an off-colour joke about having to eat a boar's penis while filming the latest season of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here.
'How does it feel to win a Logie?' he asked Guy, before adding, 'I've been to 25 [Logie Awards] and I haven't won a Logie!
'I haven't even accepted one on someone else's behalf.'

Hughes continued his 'I've never won a Logie' theme with a crack about his role on the last season I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here.
'...That show has been nominated every year since its inception – except for this year.'
He then told a yarn about how he was left with a moral dilemma while filming the survival series.
Hughes, a vegan, said he was asked to compromise his principles by producers while filming the show during an eating challenge.
'I said ''what am I eating?'' And they said a ''boar's penis'' – that's jumping into the deep end when you haven't eaten meat for 15 years,' Hughes joked.
He continued, 'I had a moral dilemma. I love animals and I love being on TV. I had a think about it and I said ''give me the c***''.'
Fans took to X to criticise the funnyman's performance and attacked everything from his humour to his familiar 'shouty' style of delivery.
'Jeez Dave Hughes is so embarrassing these days. Never won a Logie for a reason,' one user said on the thread.
Another fan added, 'Dave Hughes is not funny, [he is] annoying & self-important.
'His schtick with his stuttered robotic voice (on top of the pitch) is just grating & ick. Go away.
'PS. Admitting he loves being on TV (ie. attention) is the realest thing he's said in years.'
A third Logie viewer also took Hughes to task for his style: 'Screeching at 11:30 pm. Shoot. Me. Now.'
Another viewer was equally harsh.
'[He's] another cancer with an annoying, loud, nasally voice. If he comes back to present the Logies — social media would crash,' they wrote.
Still, it appears that Dave Hughes fan was prepared to a good word for radio and TV veteran.

Hannah Spearritt and Louie Spence quit Celebrity SAS first

S Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt and former TV dancer Louie Spence will no longer take part in the new series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. The Channel 4 military reality show opened with the 14 celebrity recruits hooded and standing on a breakwater before they were asked for their identities by chief instructor Billy Billingham who told many of the celebrities 'don't grin at me'. He then led them on two tasks, the first to plunge 26ft into the water and swim to intercept a boat, which picked them up, and the second to rescue three hostages from a building before blowing it up with a grenade. A post shared by SAS: Who Dares Wins (@sas_whodareswins) Before the second challenge began, Spearritt, 44, handed over her number tag to directing staff, telling them: 'I'm done, I'm sorry, I've reached a point'. In a pre-recorded interview which was played after her withdrawal, she said: 'I don't think I'll go on the first day,' adding she 'wouldn't forgive myself'. During the task, Spence, who is best known for the Sky TV show Pineapple Dance Studios, threw a grenade into the building while it still had two hostages in it and afterwards told the directing staff he wanted to withdraw. He was given a second chance to put his armband back on but turned it down. Spence said: 'I want to do an immediate withdrawal, I just don't have the conviction, and I feel as though I'm not dedicated enough.' A post shared by SAS: Who Dares Wins (@sas_whodareswins) He was told that he 'hadn't even started' but Spence replied 'that's what I mean'. After the first task, former model Rebecca Loos was pulled in by directing staff after she gave up during the swimming challenge. She was asked to open up on her alleged affair with footballer Sir David Beckham, who she worked for as a personal assistant, during the interrogation. In an interview before the first task, former Drag Race UK star Bimini Bon Boulash said the show would be 'a piece of p***' after growing up as a queer person in Norfolk. After the second task, former Watford striker Troy Deeney, who also threw a grenade into the building before clearing the hostages, was pulled in by the instructors where he opened up on physical abuse he and his mother received from his late father. The show sees celebrities enter SAS training where they are not eliminated and are instead culled by the directing staff or able to withdraw themselves, with those who remain at the end declared the winners.
