This Beautiful BMW Wagon Is Actually Going Into Production
Skytop
, a stunning two-seat convertible destined for a limited-production run. The year before that, it was the
Concept Touring Coupe
, a gorgeous two-door wagon that, sadly, never went anywhere. This year is no different.
At the 2025 Villa d'Este, BMW is debuting the Concept Speedtop. If that name sounds familiar, that's because this bonkers, beautiful wagon is based loosely on last year's concept. Just like the Skytop, it rides on the same base and features the same V-shaped, shark nose front end with matching light fixtures and an illuminated grille—only now with more storage.

A subtle color gradient covers the Speedtop's roof, with Floating Sunstone Maroon paint blending into a Floating Sundown Silver hue at the rear. A central "spline" element flows over the hood and onto the roof and spoiler, with special two-tone, 14-spoke wheels filling the wheel wells—which were designed specifically for this vehicle.
The interior wears a two-tone leather finish of Sundown Maroon and Moonstone White, with the same Floating Sunstone Maroon found on the exterior carrying over to certain elements of the cabin. And that same "spline" detail from the exterior also carries over as a light beam projected onto the two-tone leather headliner.
The very same leather and lighting elements make their way to the trunk, which has a split luggage compartment for even more room. Naturally, the Speedtop comes with custom Schedoni bags that fit perfectly in either compartment.

But it's not all show—the Concept Speedtop will, indeed, go. Although BMW is cagey on the specifics, the company says that the Speedtop packs the most powerful V-8 engine currently offered by BMW. Our guess would be the brand's ubiquitous twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 with the same 617 horsepower as the Skytop.
Best of all, the Speedtop isn't just a concept. BMW will build 70 examples of the wonderful wagon for its wealthiest clientele (unfortunately, it still won't be available in the US). We don't know how much it costs, but it's safe to assume that it will be well out of reach for the average enthusiast.
"Last year, the presentation of the BMW Concept Skytop at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este on Lake Como generated great enthusiasm among connoisseurs and automotive enthusiasts," said Bernd Körber, Senior Vice President BMW Brand and Product Management.

"This led to a strictly limited production run of 50 units. Thanks to this positive response, this year we have decided to also offer the BMW Concept Speedtop in a limited production series of 70 units. This extraordinary vehicle is now available for order. We are pleased to be able to offer collectors and enthusiasts another exclusive model."
The new BMW Concept Speedtop makes its world debut this weekend at the 2025 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in Italy.

Tesla's China Sales Slide Again -- And It's Not Just About Competition
Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) just reported a July shipment figure of 67,886 vehicles from its Shanghai plantdown 8.4% from the same time last year. That marks the sixth monthly decline out of seven in 2025. Competition is heating up fast in China, with local players like BYD and Xiaomi coming in strong. Xiaomi's YU7 SUV is now positioned to go head-to-head with Tesla's Model Y. And with ongoing trade tensions adding to the uncertainty, even Tesla's once-dominant China factory isn't immune to pressure. That said, EV and hybrid sales in China aren't slowing downquite the opposite. The market grew 25% year-over-year in July to 1.18 million units. Tesla, however, hasn't kept pace. The company's relatively narrow product range in China could be a factor, though that may soon change. A longer, six-seat version of the Model Y is reportedly on the way, giving Tesla a shot at expanding its addressable market. Whether it's enough to reignite local demand remains to be seenbut it's a signal they're not sitting still. Zooming out, Tesla's global story carries even more complexity. From the U.S. to Europe, sales momentum has been under pressure, and some analysts suggest Elon Musk's public commentary could be influencing consumer behavior. As market sentiment shifts and competition stiffens, Tesla's next movesin product, positioning, and public perceptioncould be pivotal. Investors betting on a rebound will want to see more than just a new seat configuration. This article first appeared on GuruFocus.

The Only Red RUF CTR1 ‘Yellowbird' Could Fetch $5 Million at Monterey Car Week
The RUF 'Yellowbird' is a revered supercar with prices to match and examples regularly going for mid-seven-figure prices. That's even for this Bordeaux Red one, which could fetch $5 million at Monterey Car Week. The Bordeaux Red RUF CTR1 'Yellowbird' is one of six Lightweight versions made, of 29 RUF CTR1 'Yellowbirds' total. The rest, of course, were yellow, but this example was different, sometimes called the 'Redbird.' It was, for a while, Alois Ruf's personal car. Around 11,745 miles are on the odometer. Its rarity can not be questioned, nor can its authenticity, with RM Sotheby's saying it has its original 3.4-liter twin-turbo flat-six and various documents, including a RUF certificate. The RUF CTR1 'Yellowbird' first became famous for using all that power and lightweight construction to go 211 mph in a testing by Road & Track that was published in 1987. That is, indeed, a fast number for any time in automotive history, but also beat out the giants of the day, including the Porsche 959, AMG Hammer, and Ferrari F40. This 1989 RUF CTR1 'Yellowbird' Lightweight is said to have been ordered by a German doctor, and the Lightweight trim was for the true sickos. The car had no roll cage, aluminum body panels instead of steel, no power brakes, no sunroof, and no radio, among other weight-reducing moves. This example was further customized by the car's first owner, with a different suspension, six-point harnesses, custom telemetry, power windows, a heated windshield and rear window, chrome trim, and a unique Pfaffenhausen hood badge. There was no roll cage, either, but RM Sotheby's notes that 'original mounting plates remain intact and ready for immediate use,' if the new owner wants to install one. The car has spent time in Germany, Austria, Belgium, and, now, America. It will go up for auction on August 16 in Monterey, and comes at a time when Yellowbirds are flying pretty high in the secondary marketplace. One example sold for over $6 million earlier this year, and while the Redbird may not fetch as much, it will very likely be in the of Robb Report The 2024 Chevy C8 Corvette: Everything We Know About the Powerful Mid-Engine Beast The World's Best Superyacht Shipyards The ABCs of Chartering a Yacht Click here to read the full article.
