Telangana CM Revanth asks Chief Secretary Ramakrishna for daily reports on collectors
In a videoconference with collectors, the chief minister said that fertiliser stocks in the state were adequate and instructed officials to install display boards at all fertiliser shops showing available stock. He also asked for two police personnel and one revenue official to be deployed at each outlet to monitor operations.
Revanth directed that criminal cases be filed against those diverting subsidised urea for non-agricultural purposes. He said Union Minister for Fertilisers JP Nadda had informed him that 20–25% of subsidised urea was being used in diesel vehicles to reduce smoke.
'This diversion must be curbed,' the chief minister said.
Launch toll-free number for fertilisers: CM to officials
Revanth said that videos showing farmers leaving their footwear in queues were creating a false perception of fertiliser shortage. 'If stock boards are displayed, farmers will not believe such rumours,' he said. He also instructed officials to launch a toll-free number for complaints regarding fertiliser availability.
During the meeting, the chief minister reviewed the situation concerning rainfall, civil supplies, health, agriculture and irrigation. He asked officials to issue alerts at least two hours in advance of expected rainfall in urban and rural areas.
Referring to a cloudburst in Khammam last year that caused flooding within a few hours, Revanth said that the upgraded State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) must be used effectively. He noted that the state had recorded 21% less rainfall this season and identified traffic congestion in Hyderabad as a major issue during monsoon.
The chief minister also asked officials to provide accurate weather forecasts, prevent waterlogging and use WhatsApp groups for coordination. 'If there is any loss of life, officials will be held responsible,' he said.
Pointing out that traffic disruptions and accidents have been reported in the Greater Hyderabad area due to water stagnation, the chief minister instructed that 150 teams under the GHMC, along with police, traffic department, NDRF, SDRF and HYDRAA teams, be kept on standby. He said that not just field staff, but senior officials must be physically present to oversee the situation. Coordination across departments must be managed from the Command and Control Room based on weather updates, he said.

Rains to continue for 2 more days in city
Hyderabad: The city on Sunday experienced rainfall for the third consecutive day, with various areas in east, south and central parts of the city receiving heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department had issued an alert for Hyderabad for the next two days. Rains lashed areas like - Amberpet, Tarnaka, Uppal, Habsiguda, Kapra, Nacharam, Mallapur, LB Nagar, Hayathnagar, Vanasthalipuram, Malakpet, Chaderghat, Saidabad, Santosh Nagar, Himayat Nagar, Nallakunta, Nampally and Basheerbagh. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a surface trough is developing in the Bay of Bengal, leading to a low-pressure system forming in the North Bay on July 24. The department has forecasted that rain will persist across the Telugu states for two days, with heavy rainfall likely in multiple districts within Telangana. In response to these weather conditions, the IMD Hyderabad has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next two days. A forecast on Sunday said Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana will continue to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next three to four days. An orange alert of heavy to very heavy rainfall of 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rainfall and a yellow alert indicating heavy rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.6 mm of rainfall from Monday to Thursday, was issued. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers were also forecast for most parts of Telangana till July 26. In light of the heavy rains that recently lashed Hyderabad, the Telangana government instructed the authorities to assist in relocating individuals to safer zones in low-lying areas. The GHMC Commissioner, District Collector, HYDRAA Commissioner, Police Commissioner, Water Works officials, and other key figures have all been alerted in preparation for the continuing rainfall. Meanwhile, the twin reservoirs, Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar, are receiving moderate inflows. As of 8 am on Sunday, both reservoirs are below their Full Tank Levels (FTL). Osman Sagar, with an FTL of 1790.00 feet (3.900 TMC), currently stands at a present level of 1782.80 feet, holding 2.474 TMC of water. The reservoir is experiencing inflows of 370 cusecs. There are no outflows reported, and the gates remain closed. Himayat Sagar, which has an FTL of 1763.50 feet (2.970 TMC), is presently at 1759.15 feet, with a water storage of 2.164 TMC. The reservoir is receiving inflows of 200 cusecs. There are no reported outflows, and the gates are not open.

Drought-like situation in 5 dists: Sarma
1 2 Guwahati: Assam cabinet on Friday approved notifying drought-like situation in five districts in western Assam due to significantly deficient rainfall — around 40% below normal — based on data from the meteorological department and groundwater commission. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma in a post-cabinet briefing said a formal declaration of drought-like situation in Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Barpeta, Bongaigaon and Baksa districts will be issued by the revenue department following the cabinet's approval. In view of the prevailing severe drought-like situation, the cabinet has considered it to be a state specific disaster and accorded in principle approval for extending compensation benefits to the affected beneficiaries in selected districts as per the SDRF norms. Sarma said farmers who had insured their crops under the Fasal Bima Yojana will be eligible for compensation as per the guidelines. A few other districts of upper Assam have also received less rainfall so far this year, and paddy output could be hit if it continues in July-Aug, he added. According to a report by the Assam State Disaster management Authority, the state, due to its unique physiographic and climatic conditions, is one of the most disaster-prone areas in the country and is prone to multiple natural hazards such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, cyclones and occasional droughts. The report says Assam suffers periodic droughts due to variability in rainfall pattern over the years. "Warming of the temperature is expected to reduce production of staple crops such as rice, horticulture produce, economically important tea produce, milk yields and fish catch, affecting the agriculture productivity and livelihood of people of Assam," the report says. "All across the State, except in the southern districts, drought weeks are going to rise as well by more than 75% with respect to the base line (1971- 2000). This means reduced productivity in the primary sector i.e., agriculture and allied activity, thereby impacting life and livelihood of people in Assam," it adds.
