ITV Loose Women star reveals husband begged her to quit show after 'husband's plea'
A former Loose Women star has divulged the reasons behind her departure from the much-loved ITV programme, citing her husband's concerns as the catalyst for her exit.
Lesley Garrett, a renowned opera singer who has performed for nobility such as King Charles and the late Queen in her illustrious 45-year career, is equally recognised for her television appearances on shows like Strictly Come Dancing and Loose Women.
After imparting her opinions on the daytime chat show for four years, Lesley has opened up about her husband Peter Christian, a general practitioner's influence on her decision to step away from the panel.

"[It's] the only time he's ever asked me to stop doing something," she disclosed to the Daily Mail.
"He said, 'At the surgery I've got ten minutes with each patient. And eight minutes is taken up with what you've said the day before. I'm worried I'm going to misdiagnose somebody, so please could you stop?'", reports the Mirror.

Previously, Lesley addressed concerns that her family had regarding her role on the show. She recounted in 2011 how her parents were struggling with the local attention, "My mum and dad said, 'Do you think you could just give it a rest for a bit because we can't go down the shops at the moment without somebody saying, 'What have you been up to?'".
Despite these familial pleas, Lesley confessed she found the show immensely enjoyable, stating, "But I enjoy it so much on the show. It's the best fun you can ever have."
Currently aged 70, Lesley is preparing for a summer concert, prompting speculation among admirers whether this performance might be their final opportunity to witness her live.
Lesley has been contemplating retiring from her singing career for a more relaxed lifestyle with her partner in the south of France, which she revealed to the Sunday Express.
When discussing retirement, Lesley suggested: "I do think about retiring, because I don't want to go on when I'm not as good as I was."
Lesley continued: "I want to quit while I'm ahead. I don't want to carry on past my sell-by date. My voice is changing, as voices do. It's still beautiful in the middle, but I can't get as high as I used to."
She further elaborated that every season, she wonders if it could be her last. She considers this season to be potentially her last, citing her age: "Every season I think could be my last. This one I seriously think could be my last year, because I am 70 and it seems like a very round number – I've been doing this for exactly 45 years."
Upon her retirement, members of the Royal Family would likely miss Lesley's beautiful voice, following her numerous performances at Royal engagements.
Regarding her work for the Royals, the South Yorkshire-born singer revealed: "I have sung for King Charles and met him several times. I sang for both the King and Queen recently."
Lesley expressed admiration for their dedication to duty, saying, "I really enjoy it, I think they do a great job. Their duty to the country is something that is very important to them. The King is very knowledgeable about opera and classical music in general, and the Duchess of Gloucester is very interested too. I've sung for her several times."

Fresh Royal Caribbean cruise hell as passenger tumbles off infinity pool days after worker jumped to his death
A Royal Caribbean cruise broke out in chaos as a passenger fell off the edge of an infinity pool days after a cruise line employee stabbed his coworker and jumped to his death. Shocking video from aboard the Icon of the Seas cruise ship captured the moment a passenger flipped over the edge of the Hideaway Pool. 'Passenger falls while doing a handstand at the infinity pool,' the caption of the video shared Sunday reads. The man strangely appeared to hit his own rear-end during the brief clip. He then straightened his legs and tumbled over the barrier as onlookers squealed in horror. It is unclear whether or not the man who toppled over was truly attempting a handstand or if he was reaching over the plexiglass for another reason. The post claimed he fell to the deck below, but this is unlikely. The infinity pool is on Deck 15 and directly below it is the Splashaway Bay children's play area on Deck 7. A fall this far would likely be fatal. It is unconfirmed how far the man fell and where he landed, but as Cruise Hive noted, the passenger appeared to land in a narrow walkway area meant for staff only, which is also on Deck 15. According to @onlyinfloridaa, the account who reposted the video from cruise ship passenger Luis Canedo, the man did not report any injuries. The Daily Mail has reached out to Royal Caribbean for more information on the incident. Little else is known at the time. Viewers were in utter disbelief of the video, with more than 4,200 commenters sharing their reactions to the jaw-dropping moment. One person claimed he had been on the cruise and shared what he says happened. 'He feel into a space not open to the public,' they wrote. 'If he would have fallen over the railing he would have fallen to deck 5 in the kids splash area. That's 10 decks below! 'He was confined to his room after the incident and not let out until arriving back in Miami,' they claimed. It is unconfirmed what happened to the passenger after the video ended. Others called out the passenger for the reckless and 'stupid' behavior that ultimately led to him falling. It was a hectic few days for the staff and guests aboard the doomed Icon of the Seas, which returned to Miami on Saturday morning. The voyage began on July 19, but erupted into mayhem on Thursday when a co-worker dispute turned fatal. As the boat was sailing through Bahamas waters, an unidentified South African male crew member, 35, stabbed his 28-year-old coworker multiple times, according to the cruise line and the Royal Bahamas Police Force. 'One of the crew members was injured, [she] was attended to by the onboard medical team, and she is now in stable condition,' Royal Caribbean told Daily Mail in a statement. 'Unfortunately, the other crew member is deceased after he went overboard.' The female employee, who is also South African, was treated for stab wounds and is 'presently in a stable condition', according to Superintendent Stephen Rolle. The Icon of the Seas is the largest cruise ship in the world at nearly 1,200 feet long. It cost $2billion to build the vessel and was one of the most expensive ever. It holds up to 7,600 passengers and weighs at about 250,800 tons.
