Apple
is said to be preparing to launch its next smartphone lineup, potentially dubbed the
iPhone 17 series
, this fall. This new generation is expected to feature a fresh addition: an ultra-thin
iPhone 17 Air
. For years, the Cupertino-based giant has offered a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and always-on capabilities – a key differentiating factor for its Pro iPhone variants. However, recent rumours suggest that this exclusive advantage might be coming to an end but gain another unique display feature to set them apart.
Citing latest leaks, 9to5mac reports that all models in the upcoming iPhone 17 series are said to receive a high refresh rate display.
However, the
iPhone 17 Pro
models are rumoured to get new technology – anti-reflective and enhanced scratch-resistant properties – potentially ensuring that the more expensive Pro models retain a distinct premium appeal.
This technology might be akin to the nano-texture glass Apple has offered on its Pro Display XDR, Studio Display, and recently on the M4 iPad Pro, which reduces glare and enhances durability.

ProMotion for all rumoured iPhone 17 models
The report says that Apple is expected to bring
ProMotion support
to its entire 2025 lineup, including the:
iPhone 17
iPhone 17 Air
iPhone 17 Pro
iPhone 17 Pro Max
While details are scarce, the 'new' display on Pro models may effectively serve as the differentiator. Furthermore, implementing this feature on the iPhone 17 Pro may provide a compelling reason for users to still opt for the premium models, even as 120Hz ProMotion becomes standard across the board.

Amagi Media Labs files draft IPO papers to raise ₹1,020 crore

Cloud-based video broadcasting and distribution platform Amagi Media Labs Ltd has filed draft papers to raise ₹ 1,020 crore in an initial public offering (IPO) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi). Mint first reported in January that the software-as-a-service firm appointed investment bankers, including Kotak Mahindra Capital, Citigroup, IIFL Capital, and Goldman Sachs, for a ₹ 3,200-crore public listing. The proposed IPO consists of an issue of fresh equity shares worth ₹ 1,020 crore and an offer for sale of up to 34 million shares, showed the draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) The listing will make the Bengaluru-based unicorn the very first sectoral player in the broadcast and streaming ecosystem to go public in the country. Several notable investors, including Premji Invest, Accel, General Atlantic, and Norwest Ventures, will be offloading their stakes. It is currently unclear if they will sell all their shares in the company. Net proceeds from the fresh issue of ₹ 667 crore will go towards the company's further investments in its cloud infrastructure and inorganic growth. It is also considering raising ₹ 204 crore in a pre-IPO round. Amagi's revenue from operations in 2024-25 stood at ₹ 1,162 crore. Its revenue since 2022-23 has grown at a compound annual growth rate of 30%. Amagi, which gets most of its revenue from the US, sees the Indian market growing, given the rise of free ad-supported TV in the country. India and Latin America currently make up only about 10% of its overall revenue. In a conversation with Mint earlier, its founders said they'd be looking to make a few acquisitions this year in three spaces: live sports broadcasting, advertising technology solutions, and the media supply chain sector. The company had last raised money in 2022, when it raised over $100 million in a round led by General Atlantic, which valued the company at $1.4 billion.

Thiruvananthapuram startup Netrasemi raises Rs 107 crore from Zoho Corp, Unicorn India Ventures

KOCHI: Kerala-based semiconductor startup Netrasemi has raised Rs 107 crore in the Series A round from Zoho Corporations Ltd & Unicorn India Ventures. This is the single largest funding raised by the startup compared to the earlier rounds. In the earlier rounds, the company had raised a total of Rs 125 crore. Speaking to TNIE, Jyothis Indirabhai, co-founder and CEO of Netrasemi, said, 'The funds raised will be used for accelerating research and development initiatives, expand manufacturing capabilities, enhance marketing efforts to capture larger domestic and global market share, bring four system-on-chip variants with advanced AI and video analytics features into production and address compute platform requirements of original equipment manufactures (OEMs) for surveillance, industrial robotics, and smart infrastructure products.' According to him, the startup has successfully completed the development of two System on a Chip (SoC) products. 'The company is focused on developing SoCs that enable optimal computing for smart IoT products, particularly for addressing complex workloads like video processing. These chips can be used in devices, making them capable of performing advanced AI-based analytics directly, eliminating the need to send data to servers or the cloud.' This capability is powered by Netrasemi's energy-efficient deep-neural AI acceleration core (NPU) and comprehensive portfolio of in-house silicon intellectual properties. In the last 12 months, the company has completed development of two Edge-AI chips with advanced video capabilities, initiated development of CCTV AI camera chip for Indian market, established partner agreements for evaluation boards and platform development, signed multiple MOUs with global partners for sample release and product R&D and secured interest and requirements from multiple OEMs for platform development using Netrasemi SoCs.
