Doechii Scores A New No. 1 With A Half-Decade-Old Song
Doechii's viral hit 'Anxiety' debuts at No. 1 on the U.K.'s Official Vinyl Singles and Physical ... More Singles charts, driven by limited edition vinyl sales. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 05: Doechii attends the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" at Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 05, 2025 in New York City. (Photo by Theo Wargo/FilmMagic) Doechii's song 'Anxiety' has experienced quite the unusual journey. The singer and rapper first shared the tune, which is built around a prominent sample of 'Somebody That I Used to Know' by Gotye and Kimbra, in 2019, when she was still working to become well-known. At the time, it didn't pick up much traction, but die-hard fans never forgot the track. Earlier this year, following her performance at the Grammy Awards and her win for Best Rap Album, the song began to go viral. Doechii wisely re-recorded the composition and officially released it as a single, and it didn't take long for 'Anxiety' to rise into the top 10 on rankings all around the world. Just when it seemed the cut might finally be finished with its chart run, it surges once again, giving the hip-hop superstar another winner. 'Anxiety' Debuts at No. 1 'Anxiety' arrives at No. 1 on the Official Vinyl Singles chart in the United Kingdom this frame. The tune opens atop the tally thanks to its recent release on various limited edition colored wax pressings all around the globe. With this new win, Doechii replaces 'I Miss You, I'm Sorry' by Gracie Abrams, which also took its time climbing to the summit. Doechii's Track Record Remains Perfect Doechii has only ever sent two songs to the Official Vinyl Singles chart, and as 'Anxiety' arrives in first place, her track record remains flawless. In April, 'Denial Is a River' also reached the top space, spending two weeks on the tally before flowing away. 'Anxiety' Hits No. 1 on the Physical Chart Thanks to its vinyl release, 'Anxiety' also rockets to No. 1 on the Official Physical Singles chart, vaulting from No. 24 to the peak position. The track earns the hip-hop powerhouse her second No. 1 on the tally, as it likewise follows 'Denial is a River' on this ranking. Sales Push 'Anxiety' Up Another Tally Purchases of 'Anxiety' skyrocketed in the U.K. recently thanks to the vinyl pressing. That uptick is reflected on the Official Singles Sales chart, where the cut bolts from No. 92 to No. 29 in its nineteenth frame on the roster.
