Rain and cold grip KwaZulu-Natal as cold front moves in
KwaZulu-Natal residents should brace for a wet and chilly week as a cold front brings early morning fog, rain, and isolated thundershowers to much of the province. Wet weather is expected to persist throughout the day, and temperatures will remain cool to cold across the region. Durban will see a maximum of 21°C, while Richards Bay will peak at 20°C. Inland areas such as Newcastle and Underberg are expected to be much colder, with daytime highs in the low teens and even colder overnight. The coastal areas, particularly along the eastern shoreline and adjacent interior of KwaZulu-Natal, are set to receive widespread rainfall, with isolated to scattered thundershowers in other areas. Forecaster Phemelo Zonke said, 'As the cold front has moved through, isolated showers and thundershowers in places over the interior are expected, reaching the southeastern coastline and becoming widespread along the eastern coastline.' She added that the public should take caution as some of the storms could be intense in isolated areas. Although KwaZulu-Natal is not currently under a weather warning, the extreme northeastern parts of the Eastern Cape bordering KZN may experience severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, strong winds, and hail. These conditions may influence weather in northern KwaZulu-Natal, especially overnight. The rest of the week is expected to remain cool, with partly cloudy skies and a chance of isolated showers continuing into Wednesday and Thursday. Cold front brings rain and cooler temperatures across South Africa
Mzansi is preparing for another cold front that will bring with it, rain and icy temperatures. South Africans should prepare for a distinctly chilly and wet week as a cold front sweeps across the nation, ushering in isolated showers and a noticeable plunge in temperatures. From Monday, residents in various regions will encounter a dramatic shift in weather, with the South African Weather Service (SAWS) predicting scattered rainfall and a 60% probability of showers particularly affecting the Eastern Cape, southern KwaZulu-Natal, and along the southern coastline. The inclement weather does not stop there; isolated thunderstorms carrying a 30% chance of rain have been forecast for pockets of the Northern Cape, Free State, and Limpopo. However, it is worth noting that most areas in the central and north-eastern parts of the country, including Gauteng and Mpumalanga, are expected to remain dry, with no severe weather warnings currently in effect.
