TG gears up for Yoga Day celebrations today
According to the officials, about 5,000 people will be performing Yoga marking International Yoga Day at 6 am to 9 am on Saturday. The government has decided to organize International Yoga Day celebrations in a grand manner.
Officials of the AYUSH and Health departments have completed the arrangements for this program to be organized with about 5,000 people. The yoga session will start at 6 am. The Governor, CM, ministers and celebrities will perform yoga in this session. With the aim of bringing yoga closer to every household in the state, the government appointed 628 yoga teachers last year. This year, a notification was issued for the appointment of more than 250 yoga teachers. Yoga classes were being conducted every day from 7 am to 9 am in Ayushman health centers (sub-centers) across the state. AYUSH department officials said that the newly appointed yoga teachers have taught yoga to 5 lakh new people. Special yoga classes were being conducted for pregnant women and patients suffering from chronic diseases. Plans were being made to make yoga part of everyone's life in the future.

Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi said, 'Today is a historic day for the entire region when the President has inaugurated Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University. We all know that before 2014, India's healthcare service was not globally recognised. We are thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for combining Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Yoga and Naturopathy, and creating the AYUSH ministry in the country.' 'Ayurveda and Unani, which were lagging, are progressing today, and the state government will take them forward,' he added. Discussing the AYUSH system and Indian medicine, he stated that the government plans to establish AYUSH Universities in six Commissionerates. He said, 'If we talk about India's AYUSH system, Rasa Shastra was originated by Lord Gorakhnath Nath. We have six such Commissionerates in the state where the AYUSH system is not established; we will build AYUSH Universities there too.' 'We will establish the AYUSH system, which can give life to a person, so that we can move towards better health,' CM Yogi added. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak launches spl disease control drive ‘Dastak and Stop Diarrhoea'
Aimed to prevent and control communicable diseases, promote community participation, and raise awareness about vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, chikungunya, and Japanese encephalitis, deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak launched a special statewide communicable disease control campaign, 'Dastak' and 'Stop Diarrhoea' at urban community health centre in Aliganj in Lucknow. (Sourced) Diarrhoea and Zinc Corners were also inaugurated as a part of the launch providing essential services and information. The Special Communicable Disease Control Campaign and Stop Diarrhoea Campaign will run from July 1 to 31, while the Dastak Campaign will be conducted from July 11 to 31, stated a press release shared with media on Tuesday. The campaign will involve 13 departments, including Health, Education, and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), working together to ensure success, it further stated. Under these campaigns, the teams will visit door to door to spread vital information on personal hygiene, handwashing, cleanliness, and prevention of waterlogging. Awareness rallies and fogging operations will be conducted to prevent the spread of campaigns aim to promote widespread public awareness and encourage community participation in preventing and controlling communicable diseases. 'We will collectively defeat Dengue-Malaria' At the launching of the Communicable disease control programme, Pathak said that we will collectively defeat dengue, malaria, and other vector-borne diseases. He emphasized that joint efforts will help us gain control over these diseases. He informed that the campaign will include a door-to-door initiative to raise awareness among people. Pathak highlighted the significant progress made in reducing mortality rates due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and Japanese Encephalitis (JE). He stated that since 2017, AES mortality rates have decreased by 98%, and JE mortality rates have decreased by 97%. Dengue mortality rates have also decreased by 93%, from 0.91% in 2017 to 0.06% in 2024. Additionally, malaria cases have decreased by 58%. 'CBMR to play key role in advancing medical innovation' Pathak has emphasised the crucial role of medical research in transforming healthcare delivery across the state. In a high-level review meeting with officials of the Centre for Biomedical Research (CBMR) held at his office in Vidhan Bhawan on Tuesday, Pathak underscored the importance of maintaining world-class quality from drug development to patient care. While reviewing CBMR's recent achievements and ongoing projects, Pathak praised the institute for its growing contributions in the fields of experimentation, innovation, and translational research. 'CBMR is helping simplify and improve medical processes, ensuring patients—especially those from special categories—receive effective and accessible treatment,' he said. Highlighting the institute's work with over 50 special-category patients, Pathak noted that its research is already making a tangible difference in healthcare. He also pointed to CBMR's collaborations with various technology and research institutions, which have led to strides in drug testing, medical device innovation, and patent development.

Punjab expands STEMI project for heart attack patients
CHANDIGARH Punjab Health minister Dr Balbir Singh Health minister Dr Balbir Singh on Tuesday launched the state-wide expansion of the Punjab STEMI Project on National Doctors' Day, empowering all the district and sub-divisional hospitals across the state to give thrombolysis treatment by administering a clot buster drug Tenecteplase to save patient life in case of heart attack. This ambitious initiative, also known as 'Mission Amrit' (Acute Myocardial Reperfusion in Time), aims to dramatically improve outcomes for patients experiencing ST-Segment Elevated Myocardial Infarction (STEMI), the most severe type of heart attack. The minister accompanied by principal secretary health Kumar Rahul and professor and head of cardiology at DMCH-Ludhiana Dr Bishav Mohan, launched the project here and said that the Tenecteplase injection, which costs around ₹ 30,000, is being administered free of cost under this project. 'This injection helps to dissolve blood clots in the heart,' he added. The project was launched across the state after the success of a pilot project, which was initially implemented in two districts— Ludhiana and Patiala— and extended to nine more districts later. In the pilot stage, approximately 14,000 chest pain patients have been enrolled, and out of 1305 STEMI patients identified, 583 have successfully received thrombolysis at district health facilities. To ensure project's success, the minister said that over 700 staff members, including medical specialists, emergency medical officers (emos), and staff nurses from all 23 districts, have undergone intensive capacity-building training programmes at DMCH-Ludhiana.
