Delhi plans to launch over 100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs
According to officials, a total of 108 sites have been identified as feasible for setting up these clinics across various civic agencies.
'Of these, 53 sites fall under the Public Works Department (PWD), 38 under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), eight under the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), and nine are located on properties managed by the Directorate of Education (DoE),' a government document said.
Several existing Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics (AAMCs) will be repurposed into UAAMs, and renovation work, including painting, plastering, waterproofing, tile work and installation of false ceilings, is underway by PWD.
'Tenders have already been floated for repair and maintenance works. Besides upgrading current facilities, new clinics will also be constructed to meet the expansion targets,' government officials said
However, in some places, the project is facing delays due to pending No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from various agencies.
As per the government document, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has approved only 11 out of 109 proposed sites, while all 39 sites proposed under the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) are still under review. Additional approvals from MCD are also awaited for more than 400 sites identified earlier this year.
The expansion aligns with a health agreement signed in April 2025 between the Delhi Department of Health and Family Welfare and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, enabling the rollout of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the capital.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that Rs 1,749 crore has been allocated for the establishment of 1,139 Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.(PTI)

Eris Lifesciences to tap Rs 5,000-cr insulin and semaglutide market in FY26
Ahmedabad-based Eris Lifesciences is looking to tap opportunities in the nearly Rs 5,000-crore Indian insulin market after Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk announced the withdrawal of its insulin products from the market in April this year. 'We expect that Novo's cartridge inventory in the market will run out by October 2025. So this market opportunity is something that one can start monetising from the November–December time frame,' the company's executive director and chief executive officer (CEO), Krishnakumar Vaidyanathan, told Business Standard. He added that the timing fits Eris' plans, as the cartridge filling capability of its Bhopal unit will start becoming operational from January. Vial manufacturing has already been commissioned at the unit, with the company creating a strategic stock of insulins. This comes at a time when Eris is already the largest domestic player in insulins. The company had acquired the India formulations business of Biocon Biologics last year — including established insulin brands Basalog and Insugen. 'Before the Biocon deal, we had a couple of homegrown insulin brands in the market, which did a combined Rs 60 crore in revenue last year. Basalog and Insugen had combined revenues of Rs 200 crore at the time of acquisition,' he said. He added that, with this, the company's insulin franchise has become significantly larger, with a 10 per cent market share. Eris is also among the prominent drugmakers looking to roll out generic versions of the blockbuster molecule semaglutide once its patent expires around March next year. Semaglutide is a GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient in medications for obesity management and Type-II diabetes. According to Eris' investor presentation for the June quarter of 2025–26 (Q1FY26), the company is on track to be among the first launches in India in March 2026. The company has initiated validation of synthetic semaglutide cartridges at its European Union (EU)-approved AMD injectables site. 'We are also planning the validation of the recombinant semaglutide in our Bhopal plant later this year,' he added. As far as the go-to-market strategy is concerned, the company said it is already in a strong position because of its dominant presence in insulins and prior presence in the GLP market with the launch of liraglutide in September last year. For Q1FY26, Eris Lifesciences recorded a 40 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) rise in consolidated profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 125 crore. Revenue rose to Rs 773 crore during the June quarter against Rs 720 crore in the year-ago period.

After video of rat eating ice cream cone in popular outlet at Seawoods station goes viral, Navi Mumbai civic body says it will act if there is a complaint
Navi Mumbai: After a video of a rodent eating an ice cream cone at a popular retail outlet inside the Seawoods station complex went viral, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) said it had not received any complaint about the incident. "So far, we have not received any formal complaint about the viral video of a rat eating an ice cream at a shop in Seawoods," NMMC chief medical health officer Dr Prashant Jawade said on Tuesday. "In case there is any grievance with regards to public health or a rodent-related matter, we can further inquire and take action." The NMMC spends over Rs 3.5 crore every year to control rodent numbers in all wards to prevent serious diseases. Chauhan said all shops pay property tax to the NMMC, part of which is later used for the purpose of public health. Many citizens reacted after seeing the viral video and said they will avoid eating ice cream or any other snacks from the shops at the station complex.

Claims of empanelled hospitals under Ayushman Bharat being settled: Haryana govt
Chandigarh, Aug 5 (PTI) The Haryana government Tuesday said that the claims of empanelled hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat scheme are being settled. This comes days after the state unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) said that 650 private hospitals across the state will stop treating patients under the scheme from August 7 if pending claims are not cleared by then. Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda had also recently claimed that the government owed over Rs 400 crore to the private hospitals and said it was playing with its scheme as well as the lives and health of the public. According to a state government statement, Haryana's State Health Agency (SHA) 'acknowledges letter issued by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Haryana dated July 28, wherein the IMA has expressed its decision to halt services under the Ayushman Bharat — Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) starting from August 7, citing outstanding payments as the reason". In this context, the Haryana SHA wishes to clarify the current status of payments, claim processing, grievance redressal mechanisms and empanelment procedures to provide transparency and reassurance to all stakeholders, the statement said. 'We are pleased to state that the budget has been received from the State Government on August 4, 2025, and accordingly, payment to empanelled hospitals has been initiated on a first-in-first-out basis. This development reflects the state government's commitment to ensuring timely disbursement of funds and uninterrupted delivery of healthcare services under the Ayushman Bharat scheme," it said. It further said that the SHA has already processed and paid claims submitted by empanelled hospitals up to the first week of May 2025. 'A total of Rs 2,900 crore has been disbursed to hospitals since the inception of the scheme. During the financial year 2025-26, up to July 16, 2025, an amount of Rs 240.63 crore has been received from the State and Central Governments and fully utilized for settlement of eligible claims," it said. Claims submitted by the empanelled hospitals are processed by a team of 50 doctors through the online platform of the National Health Authority (NHA). The NHA is the apex body responsible for implementing the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana scheme. 'The portal ensures a transparent and impartial claim allocation process by randomly assigning cases to processors. All deductions are made strictly as per NHA guidelines and only when adequate clinical justification or documentation is lacking. 'Before any rejection or deduction, hospitals are given an opportunity to upload the required supporting documents such as vital charts, clinical images, OT notes, and test reports. If a hospital disagrees with a deduction, it may file an appeal through the portal. These appeals are reviewed by a designated Medical Audit Committee," the state government statement said. It said the SHA has also taken cognisance of the grievances raised by hospitals regarding payment delays, claim rejections and non-processing of claims. To date, over 400 grievances from empanelled hospitals have been formally registered and resolved through the Central Grievance Redressal Management System 2.0 portal, which is an online web-enabled system developed to redress the Ayushman Bharat Yojana-related grievances. The SHA maintains regular communication with the Haryana IMA to address their concerns, the statement said. 'SHA, Haryana remains committed to ensuring transparency, timely disbursement of payments, and strengthening public-private partnerships in healthcare delivery. Regular updates on the payment status and other operational matters are being shared with stakeholders through official channels," it said.
