New Delhi, Jun 25 (PTI) The Ministry of Rural Development on Wednesday signed an agreement with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to provide skill training to women members of self-help groups.
He added that efforts were underway to create 'Millionaire Didis' as the next milestone.
Minister of State for Rural Development Dr Pemmasani stated that this collaboration is an important step in realising our vision for an inclusive Viksit Bharat.
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary emphasised the convergence approach, stating that 'together, we are aligning the skill development infrastructure with rural aspirations to ensure that every woman has the opportunity to grow, earn and lead.' The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will remain in effect for three years, with a Joint Review Committee constituted for quarterly monitoring of the progress and outcomes.
According to the MoU, customised training modules for women of self-help groups will be developed based on emerging economic areas, including digital and financial literacy, compliance and market access.
The Training of Trainers programmes and skilling of self-help group cadres will be done through Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Rural Self Employment Training Institutes, National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, and National Skill Training Institutes.
Formal certification would be provided through the Skill India Digital Hub to recognise skills of self-help group members. PTI AO RUK RUK

'In pursuance with the directions from the government, the proposal to create the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Wildlife Sanctuary in parts of the Sehore Forest Division is put on hold. Entire process on the issue is put on hold till further orders,' principal chief conservator of forests (PCCF-Wildlife) Subhranjan Sen wrote to the DFO-Sehore on Monday. Importantly, the proposal to create the sanctuary in the Sehore Forest Division (which comes under the home district and parliamentary constituency of the current union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan) was first mooted during the Congress government in the state, when the current Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar was the state's forest minister. Around six years later, in May 2025, the present BJP regime headed by Dr Mohan Yadav had set the ball rolling again on the issue, seeking a revised proposal from DFO-Sehore to create the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Wildlife Sanctuary. Just a month later, 50 houses of the tribal community were reportedly demolished by the forest department for removing encroachments from the Khivni Wildlife Sanctuary in the adjoining Dewas district on June 23. Four days later, massive protest by tribals was reported in Sehore district, where the local MP and union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was attending a development meeting at the district collectorate. The tribal protestors, including men and women from Sehore and Dewas districts were protesting the June 23 demolition of houses and the proposed Sardar Vallabhbhai Wildlife Sanctuary, which they alleged would affect 2 lakh people in Sehore and Dewas districts.

Mizoram to get its first ever Rajdhani express; Railway line set for inauguration by PM Modi, says CM Lalduhoma

This comes after Lalduhoma met with railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and asked to provide for a Rajdhani that will serve as a direct rail link between Aizawl and Delhi, Kolkata, and Tripura, as reported by PTI. The announcement was made when Lalduhoma was addressing the celebration of Remna ni, marking the anniversary of the signing of the Mizoram peace accord in Aizawl. "The railway minister has complied with our request. We will get Rajdhani express service. There will be train service between Aizawl and Delhi and two other cities Tripura (Agartala) and Kolkata," he said. The event was hosted by the apex student body, Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), and was held at Lammual in Aizawl. The construction of the 51.38 km long Bairabi-Sairang railway line has been completed and is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as per chief minister Lalduhoma. The chief minister said he had requested the Centre to upgrade Sairang railway station into a world-class facility, a proposal that has been approved. "The railway line is ready for inauguration. We are waiting for the Prime Minister to open it," he said. The Bairabi-Sairang railway line marks the first-ever direct rail link to Aizawl, connecting it to the national railway grid via Silchar. The project features numerous bridges and 48 tunnels and overcame difficult terrain and significant logistical challenges. Noting that the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project (KMMTTP) is nearing its completion, Lalduhoma commented that Mizoram is set to emerge as a key commercial hub and gateway to ASEAN countries. "When the KMMTTP is completed, it will be a commercial link to not only Mizoram but the entire country. Mizoram's gateway will be shifted to the southern side," he added. The KMMTTP project aims to connect the Kolkata port with Sittwe port in Myanmar by sea, then via the Kaladan river to Paletwa in southern Chin state in Myanmar, and then connect by road to Mizoram.
