Michigan football gains edge for 4-star CB in 2026 class after losing target to rival
Michigan football has one cornerback committed to the 2026 class in Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star Brody Jennings. But his pledge has been tenuous, and the Wolverines have been looking to add multiple others to the class, whether he sticks or not.
The Wolverines lost out on Towson (Md.) Loyola Blakefield four-star Khary Adams to Notre Dame, but there's another who visited recently, with whom Michigan is in high regard.
Once thought to be an Ohio State lean (per On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine, Frisco (Tx.) Panther Creek four-star cornerback Donovan Webb has officially visited Ann Arbor earlier in the month, but also saw Texas Tech, Colorado, Kansas State, and LSU throughout the cycle. However, it appears that LaMar Morgan and company have done a good enough job that On3's Chad Simmons and EJ Holland have both put in predictions that he'll be wearing a winged helmet in the end.
The scouting report from 247Sports' Gabe Brooks:
Ultra-productive safety prospect with three-phase playmaking experience. Volume tackler with passing game impact as well, as evidenced by consecutive 100-tackle seasons and nine INTs/19 breakups across soph-junior campaigns. Displays impressive athleticism as a return game threat (two TDs as a junior). Ballhawk who looks for the big play. Shows some open-field speed-building ability. Also runs track. Plays a hyper-competitive style. Testing and track data suggest room to improve top-end speed. Can get too physical/handsy at times in coverage. Projects as a high-major safety with possible role versatility depending on down-and-distance situations. Could become a multi-year starter with the instincts and production that suggest potential beyond college.
Webb is set to make his decision final in relatively short order, with his commitment date set for July 2.

Oklahoma football picks up commitment from four-star lineman Deacon Schmitt
The Oklahoma football team picked up a major piece of the Class of 2026 on Saturday as offensive tackle Deacon Schmitt announced his commitment to the Sooners on social media. Schmitt, the top-ranked player in the state of Colorado in both On3 and 247Sports' rankings. He is a composite four-star recruit who held offers 21 power-conference schools, though he had finalized to OU, Colorado and Alabama entering Saturday. Schmitt is the second offensive lineman in coach Brent Venables' 2026 class, joining composite four-star recruit Noah Best from Texas. He's also the 10th pick-up for the Sooners since the beginning of June with his commitment coming a day after the Sooners lost out on the nation's No. 4 junior-college player, Josiah Jefferson, brother of ex-OU safety Tony Jefferson. OU now has 14 players in the class, which entered Saturday ranked 22nd in On3's rankings and 43rd in 247Sports' rankings. Schmitt's commitment will almost certainly boost both. During his announcement, Schmitt said Oklahoma "definitely feels like home." The mark was pointed because the University of Colorado is less than 45 minutes' drive from Schmitt's home town of Windsor, Colorado. Schmitt also remarked about the differences between Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders and Venables, plus offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh. "He's my kind of coach," Schmitt said. "The kind of coach I need." .

Indiana basketball gets verbal commitment from Prince-Alexander Moody. What to know
New Indiana basketball coach Darian DeVries has his first commitment from the Class of 2026. Four-star guard Prince-Alexander Moody verbally committed to IU on June 27. Moody is from Maryland and attends Bishop McNamara. "I'm blessed to continue this journey with the cream and crimson — I'm a Hoosier!" he posted on Instagram. Here is what you should know about Moody. Prince-Alexander Moody is listed at 6-4. Prince-Alexander is rated No. 104 nationally, the No. 27 shooting guard and the No. 5 recruit in Maryland per On3's industry rankings. In an interview with On3's Joe Tipton, Moody explained why he committed to Indiana: "I chose them (Indiana) because it immediately felt like home. At the airport today, I didn't even want to leave to be honest. DRoc (Darian DeVries) is amazing. Me and him created a bond that's crazy. I love him and he loves me. And the man that started it all was Kenny (Johnson). He's been family since I met him and has been recruiting me since 7th grade. He changed my life basically. The whole Indiana coaching staff is great. The university is great. Bloomington is the most peaceful place I've ever been to. They're great in academics and I can workout whenever I want. It's just a whole different world. It's like they have their own village, it's just amazing. They just had everything I needed, plus more and I love their play style."

Michigan football's latest 2026 commits: Lee, Robinson lead CBS Sports ratings
The Wolverines have been on a recruiting heater in the past week-plus, and they're showing no signs of slowing down. Friday saw Michigan football add two commitments, with one being Honolulu (Hawaii) Kamehameha four-star offensive tackle Malakai Lee, one of the maize and blue's top overall offensive targets in the 2026 recruiting cycle. But, as CBS Sports notes, not all commitments are created equal. And the network has created a new way to evaluate pledges to determine just how impactful their additions might be. Advertisement With what CBS Sports is calling a 'commitment impact score,' the network weighs the roster boost, how much momentum the commitment creates, and how much the recruit fits into a team's culture. Then, they're scored from 1-10, with a 9-10 being a 'game-changer,' a 7-8 being a 'strong add,' a 5-6 being 'solid depth,' and 1-4 being 'low impact.' Starting with the newest pledge, the aforementioned Lee, the Wolverines got what CBS Sports calls a strong add. 4-star OT Malakai Lee commits to Michigan Our eval: Strong add (8/10) Michigan's offensive line had been the gold standard during the Jim Harbaugh era and the program has recruited well enough for that to continue. The recruiting bubble seems to have popped for Michigan as several have either joined or will soon join the Wolverine's 2026 recruiting class. His potential is insane as he has good size and a verified 85 inch wingspan. But Lee committed about 10-15 minutes after another was added to the class, with Richmond (Va.) Huguenot three-star linebacker Markel Dabney flipping from SMU to Michigan football just before the announcement in Hawaii. Of course, Dabney isn't quite as highly regarded as Lee, with CBS Sports noting him as 'modest,' but it's still a good addition from the network's perspective. 3-star LB Markel Dabney flips from SMU to Michigan Our eval: Solid Depth (5/10) Markel Dabney is a modest addition, but he did flip from SMU. His official visit list is not littered with the nation's top programs, but Michigan has done well identifying and developing 3-star recruits over the years like Kris Jenkins, Mike Sainristil, DJ Turner, Mike Morris and others. The timing is good because the Virginia native is a part of a big recruiting run for the Wolverines. Advertisement As CBS Sports notes, just because talent evaluators aren't all in line calling Dabney a home run doesn't mean that Michigan football won't develop him in a way that is beyond impactful. And certainly, the Wolverines are excited about Dabney's potential in Wink Martindale's system. The new scoring table also covers some other recent Michigan commitments. Offensive lineman Marky Walbridge got a score of five, solid depth, while wide receiver Zion Robinson got a nine -- 'game changer.' The Michigan wide receiver room received a significant talent upgrade with the addition of Robinson, the sixth-ranked wide receiver and No. 71 overall prospect in the 2026 class who chose the Wolverines over the likes of Miami, Nebraska and Stanford. The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder is an explosive athlete who posted multiple sub-11-second 100-meter times as a sophomore in 2024 - that same year, he won the Texas 6A state title in the high jump (6-8). This marks the second straight cycle that the Wolverines have gone into the Lone Star State to land an elite wideout (Katy Jordan's Andrew Marsh was the No. 82 overall prospect and No. 13 wide receiver in 2025). We expect Robinson and Marsh to be great targets for Bryce Underwood in the future. Four-star defensive tackle Titan Davis also was evaluated and got a score of eight, strong add.
