Updated Porsche 911 Carrera 4S arrives in coupe, convertible and Targa form
Priced from £127,000, the Carrera 4S costs £6,500 more than the two-wheel-drive model, and throws in a few additions including the standard fitment of matrix LED headlights, wireless phone charging and customisable interior ambient lighting.
Otherwise, the 4S shares its chassis set-up with the two-wheel-drive Carrera S, including Porsche's torque-vectoring rear differential, sports exhaust and adaptive suspension. As always, a huge range of options can be added to this, including a Sport set-up with a 10mm drop in ride height, carbon-ceramic brakes and rear-wheel steering. As with all 911 Carrera coupes of the 992.2 generation, rear seats are a no-cost option.
For an extra £10,000 you can specify the Cabriolet model with those rear seats in place, while topping the range is the £137,600 Targa. This model throws in rear-wheel steering as standard equipment, and also usefully lowers the cost of entry to a Targa model by nearly £20,000 over the existing Targa GTS.
Mechanically, the 4S has the same 473bhp variant of Porsche's twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre flat-six engine. This is a 19bhp increase over the previous 4S, with torque rated at 530Nm. Porsche quotes a 0-62mph time of 4.3 seconds for the Coupe, 0.2 seconds faster than the rear-drive alternative. However, there is no manual option – only the quick-shifting eight-speed dual-clutch automatic.

That's the reality of a stay at ultra-modern Escapade Silverstone. Opened in March, the 14-acre Escapade complex sits trackside overlooking a 550-metre stretch of Silverstone Circuit, home of the British Grand Prix, which straddles Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire. The hotel comprises a clubhouse with a roof terrace bar, fine-dining restaurant and 60 one- to four-bedroom apartments, many of which offer unparalleled views of the world-famous Maggotts and Becketts corners — some of the fastest and most exciting in the world. Poland completes negotiations to buy South Korean K2 tanks, agency says
SEOUL, July 3 (Reuters) - Poland has completed negotiations with South Korea's Hyundai Rotem ( opens new tab to receive a second batch of K2 tanks and plans to sign a contract, South Korea's defence procurement agency said on Wednesday. The specific size of the contract will be disclosed later, South Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration said in a statement. On Thursday, Hyundai Rotem said in a regulatory filing the Polish arms procurement agency has confirmed the contract was worth $6.5 billion. It said further details of the deal would be announced in a later filing. The Yonhap News Agency has said the deal was to supply 180 tanks. In 2022, Poland and Hyundai Rotem agreed a supply deal for the first batch, or 180 K2 tanks. While the first contract focused on Korean-made vehicles that could be quickly supplied as Poland moved swiftly to boost its military amid Russia's war in neighbouring Ukraine, the second batch is expected to grant the Korean arms maker a more permanent foothold in Europe. DAPA said a production facility in Poland would be established, with a large number of K2 tanks to be assembled locally through cooperation between Hyundai Rotem and Polish defence companies.

THE giant car firm behind 14 brands including Fiat and Peugeot may have to close factories over EV targets, its boss says. European car manufacturers are having to sell more electric vehicles to cut CO2 emissions - or risk crippling penalties. 2 2 Stellantis may have shut some of its factories doors due to the risk of hefty European Union fines for not complying with CO2 emission targets, the chief of the Franco-Italian automaker for Europe said on Tuesday. The automaker industry has successfully lobbied for more time to comply, as fines will be based on 2025-2027 emissions rather than just in 2025. Stellantis' Europe chief Jean-Philippe Imparato slammed the targets, saying they were still unreachable for automakers. He then exposed his company to fines of up to 2.5 billion euros within "two-three years." Speaking at a conference in the lower house of parliament in Rome, he said that without significant changes in the regulatory situation by the end of this year, "we will have to make tough decisions." Stellantis would therefore either have to double its electric vehicle sales, which is impossible, or cut the production of petrol and diesel vehicles, Imparato said. "I have two solutions: either I push like hell (on electric) ... or I close down ICE (internal combustion engine vehicles). And therefore I close down factories," he said, at one point mentioning the Italian van-making plant of Atessa. Meanwhile discussions over the future of Maserati remain ongoing as Stellantis prepared to welcome its new CEO. New CEO Antonio Filosa faces huge financial decisions as a result of President Trump's brutal trade tariffs. Stellantis - which owns 14 brands across the globe - was reported to have hired management consulting firm McKinsey and Co to review the situation. McKinsey was called in April this year to advise on struggling brands Maserati and Alfa Romeo, with both experiencing a dire 2024. Last year, the number of Maserati units sold plunged from 26,600 to just 11,300. Stellanis told Motor1: "McKinsey has been asked to provide its considerations regarding the recently announced U.S. tariffs for Alfa Romeo and Maserati." Trump's new legislation means tariffs of at least 25 percent on anything imported into the US. Maserati has no new model launches scheduled as it waits for a new business plan, with the last one having been put on hold by Stellantis in 2024. The plan is expected to be presented soon after Filosa starts his new role. But as things stand, it is understood that all options remain on the table for the world-renowned Italian brand. It came after the global firm pulled the plug on a £1.3billion investment in Maserati earlier this year. What is Stellantis? Stellantis is the company behind iconic motor brands such as Fiat, Vauxhall and Peugot. The conglomerate, which is the second-largest maker of cars in Europe, owns 14 badges, including Chrysler, Citroen, Jeep and Maserati. The company itself is the product of a merger between Fiat-Chrysler and France's PSA, the maker of Peugeot and Citroen, in 2021. But the motoring giant has encountered increasingly stuttering financial success. And an initial manufacturing break at Stellantis has now been extended as bosses report a collapse in demand for electric cars.
