T.N. delegation urges Centre to implement Market Intervention Scheme for mango farmers
The delegation handed over a letter from Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, highlighting the plight of mango growers in the State who have been severely impacted by a sharp drop in procurement prices. DMK MPs Kanimozhi Karunanidhi and Tiruchi Siva, along with MLAs D. Mathiazhagan, Y. Prakash, and senior officials, were part of the delegation.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Mr. Sakkarapani said the delegation had submitted a series of demands, including implementation of MIS to protect farmers' interests and release of pending subsidies to the Department of Food. He pointed out that the procurement price for mango pulp had fallen by ₹5 per kg.

Union minister for agriculture & farmers welfare and rural development Shivraj Singh Chouhan was the chief guest for the convocation ceremony. Speaking at the function, Chouhan extended his best wishes to the graduating students on their new beginning. 'Viksit Bharat, Viksit Jammu Kashmir and prosperous farming community is our resolve. The Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to develop J&K as horticulture hub,' Chouhan said. While sharing his experience in Kashmir, the Union minister said the natural beauty of Kashmir and the love of its people has won his heart. In his address, the LG Sinha congratulated the university for creating a competent and competitive human resource, shaping up farm sector in J&K UT, remarkable improvement in its ranking and also wished the students for their bright future. He extended his felicitations to the women students for their excellent academic performance across the subjects. 'Proud to see our daughters breaking barriers and achieving success in agricultural science and technology. Out of 150 students conferred with gold medals, 115 were women students. Out of 445 Certificates of Merit, 334 were conferred to girls. Out of a total of 5,250 degrees of undergraduate, masters, PhD in today's convocation, 2,661 degrees have been awarded to women students. It reflects a bright future for J&K and the nation,' he said. Sinha also spoke on the transformative reforms taking place in agriculture and allied sectors in Jammu and Kashmir over the past few years. 'Under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the agriculture and allied sector has truly become a mainstay of India's economy. This change is strongly reflected in J&K's agriculture landscape. Today, Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) has emerged as a role model of agricultural revolution in the entire country,' he said. Sinha also said that in the last five years, Jammu and Kashmir has set four major goals for agriculture and allied sector - to transform the agriculture sector into a sustainable-commercial agriculture economy, to create an agri-business ecosystem with value chain, farmer and community-centric approach for holistic development of agriculture and to increase the income of farming families and secure their livelihood. 'Your passion and ideas will shape the future of India's agriculture sector. Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. And, I firmly believe that if education is in accordance with the time and the needs of the global industry, then it is the most precious asset of the society,' he said. The LG also commended the vice chancellor and his team for developing modern, state of the art infrastructure and a new-age educational platform.

PM Modi accorded warm welcome on arrival in Argentina
Buenos Aires/New Delhi, July 5 (UNI) On the third phase of his five nation tour, PM Modi reached Argentina today, on his arrival he was accorded a warm welcome at the Ezeiza International Airport. People of the Indian community too extended a warm welcome to the Prime Minister on his arrival. The local Indian expatriates performed Kathak and other traditional dances in PM Modi's honour. PM Modi wrote on his social media page "Landed in Buenos Aires for a bilateral visit which will focus on augmenting relations with Argentina. I am eager to be meeting President Javier Milei and holding detailed talks with him" PM Modi is touring Argentina on the invitation of the Argentine President. He will be meeting President Milei later today, during the meeting the two sides will look into possibilities of cooperation between the two nations. Top of the agenda will be talks on defence, oil and gas, renewable energy, agriculture, mining, trade and investment. He arrived in Argentina after his Trinidad & Tobago visit, "Thank you Trinidad & Tobago, I will never be able to forget my time here, we have given new momentum to ties between India and Trinidad & Tobago" he wrote on his 'X' account. Warrior-saint Alluri is an inspiration: Rajnath Singh
Hyderabad: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh declared that the patience and restraint exhibited by the Armed Forces during 'Operation Sindoor' mirrored the very qualities of Alluri Sitarama Raju, who made an invaluable contribution to India's freedom struggle. Addressing an event organised under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Culture and Kshatriya Seva Sangham, marking the 128th birth anniversary of Alluri Sitarama Raju and the 103rd anniversary of the Rampa Rebellion, held here on Friday, the Defence Minister termed him a 'warrior-saint'. He invoked Alluri's moral clarity and grassroots leadership, drawing a direct line between his legacy and the ethos of India's modern defence and development strategy. 'Alluri Ji was not just a revolutionary; he was a movement. His guerrilla resistance, despite limited resources, remains a shining example of courage driven by principle. He taught us that standing up against injustice is not just a right, it is the nation's Dharma,' Mr Singh added. Referring to 'Operation Sindoor', he stated that the Indian Armed Forces displayed patience and restraint while dismantling terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), ensuring complete caution so that no civilian population was harmed. Rajnath Singh outlined the Government's vision of tribal empowerment, echoing Alluri's lifelong mission to uplift the most marginalised communities. He detailed recent government initiatives, such as the Prime Minister's Tribal Development Mission, Skill India, and the National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Campaign, asserting that these are tangible steps towards integrating tribal communities with dignity and opportunity, rather than relying on charity. 'From being denied basic rights during colonial rule to becoming the guardians of sustainable growth today, our tribal brothers and sisters have come a long way, and we are committed to walking alongside them,' he added. The Union Defence Minister stressed that the Government's efforts were inspired not just by policy but by emotion and a deep commitment to the values Alluri lived and died for. 'His life was not just one of bravery, but of unity,' he said, underlining how Alluri transcended caste barriers and is remembered across India as a 'tribal warrior'. He described the birth anniversary celebrations as a reflection of India's journey under 11 years of transformative governance, and its resolve to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy welcomed Rajnath Singh, highlighting him as a great leader who has revitalised the national defence industry and showcased the strength of India's military through 'Operation Sindoor'. Kishan Reddy mentioned that places where Alluri lived and organised his revolt against the British were developing into tourist destinations with the Centre's support.
