Could Commanders' Jayden Daniels' 'Wild Trajectory' Lead To MVP In 2025?
Washington Commanders' quarterback Jayden Daniels has set the bar for 2025 ridiculously high after his rookie season.

A 12-5 regular season record, two playoff wins, an NFC Championship appearance, and winning Offensive Rookie of the Year, that is some season.
Now, with the NFL world knowing he's coming, can he replicate his feats? Or better yet, could he win the MVP award?
Yes, we know that is a stunningly high bar for a second-year quarterback, but that is what Daniels has in front of him in 2025, and he has the coaching staff and weapons around him to give it a serious nudge.
And Bleacher Report thinks he can win it.
"The 2024 No. 2 overall pick is riding a wild trajectory after lighting up the league as a rookie," Bleacher Report writes. "Now, he has even more support and experience around him ahead of Year 2."

Now, Daniels' stats of 3,568 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions will have to improve, and if he can rush for roughly the same as he did last year (891 yards, six touchdowns), then he might be in the conversation.
But the biggest thing is the Commanders would have to keep winning. Another 12-win season is likely the floor, meaning he'll have the franchise in the playoffs, potentially as a high seed. That will also work in his favor.
However, we do have the dreaded sophomore slump theory dangling over him as he enters Year 2, so he would have to buck that trend, something C.J. Stroud failed to do last year.

Jayden has all the tools to continue his ascension in 2025, and if everything goes right, who knows, maybe there is an MVP win in there, too.
Yes, it's a long shot, but who saw last year coming?

$2.7 million fan favorite facing roster extinction after free agency flood at his position
Dallas Cowboys fans felt like their team had uncovered a golden nugget following the 2023 NFL draft. T.J. Bass, an Oregon product, was two-time First-Team All-Conference player in the Pac-12. He received $150,000 worth of guarantees as one of the team's premier undrafted free agents, then went out and proved his worth, making the initial 53-man roster as a rookie. Bass started two games as a rookie, and another three in his second season, but entering his third year he's going to have to prove himself to a new regime. The head-coaching switch from Mike McCarthy to Brian Schottenheimer means there's a new staff of position coaches, and Klayton Adams and Conor Riley went out and found several new bodies to work in the potential scheme change. The latter is going to be moved inside. The team also brought back ERFA Brock Hoffman, who beat out Bass for the primary interior backup role last summer. 2025 Arizona Cardinals training camp roster preview: RB Michael Carter
The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team. Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2024, questions they face and their roster outlook. Advertisement This focuses on running back Michael Carter. Michael Carter background, 2024 season Carter enters his third year but second full season with the Cardinals. Originally a fourth-round pick in 2021 by the New York Jets, he was waived in November 2023 and the Cardinals claimed him. Finishing the 2023 season, he was the Cardinals' backup running back to James Conner and 149 yards on 6.8 yards per carry. However, last season, after the Cardinals drafted Trey Benson in the third round, Carter didn't earn a spot on the roster out of training camp. Benson was the main backup running back. Carter wasn't as good as Emari Demercado to be the third-down back and isn't the special teams player that DeeJay Dallas is. Advertisement He spent the year on the practice squad until late in the season when injuries hit and he was signed to the active roster. He rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on 3.7 yards per carry and caught 11 passes for 57 yards. Michael Carter 2025 contract details, cap hit Carter is scheduled to make $1.17 million against the salary cap and will count $1.27 million against the cap. Questions he faces, roster outlook Carter finds himself in basically the same situation as last offseason. Can he prove he is valuable as a third-down back or on special teams? To make the team, he will need to beat Benson, be better than Demercado to be the third-down back or be able to supplant Dallas on special teams. Advertisement As things stand, he likely will be in the same situation as a season ago, he will be on the outside looking in.
