Kate, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 and confirmed she was free from the disease at the start of this year, last made an appearance at a grand royal dinner 20 months ago in November 2023, in honour of the South Korean president.
Last week, she opened up about her 'rollercoaster' cancer recovery, its life-changing impact, and putting on a 'brave face' during a visit to Colchester Hospital.
Kensington Palace confirmed the princess would be present after she carried out royal duties to mark the start of the state visit earlier in the day, accompanying the Macrons to Windsor with William, taking part in the carriage ride, the ceremonial welcome, the royal luncheon and Royal Collection exhibition.
The princess has already channelled diplomatic royal dressing in honour of the King's guests, choosing to wear French fashion house Christian Dior for her daytime engagements.
Her earrings belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales and the pearl necklace was from the late Queen's collection.
The blush pink Christian Dior jacket is the 30 Montaigne Rose Des Vents Bar Jacket and a piece from the 2024 collection, and was paired with a tulle skirt.
It was reimagined by Maria Grazia Chiuri, who was inspired by the original first created in 1947 by Dior himself.
Kate's sleek hat was by Jess Collett.
The princess was charmed with a kiss to the hand by Mr Macron as she and William met the French leader as he disembarked from his plane at RAF Northolt.
Mr Macron took the princess's hand and leaned forward to deliver an air kiss towards it.
Meanwhile, the President warmly shook the prince's hand and held onto his arm as they chatted.
State banquets have moved from the Buckingham Palace ballroom to Windsor for the next few years while reservicing work at the London royal residence continues and starts to affect the state rooms.
Kate has attended a handful of engagements in recent months including Trooping the Colour, the annual Order of the Garter service and a visit to a V&A storage facility in London.
But she missed Royal Ascot in June after seeking to find the right balance to public appearances following her cancer treatment.

Netflix 'masterpiece' breaks third record with 160,0000 views in just 12 days
Squid Game is back for its third and final season and has already broken an impressive record. Netflix's most successful show Squid Game returned for its third and final season last month and has now broken another impressive record. The South Korean psychological thriller is by far the most watched series on the streaming platform ever with season one alone securing 265.2m views after its release in 2021, securing the crown for the number one show globally. Season two, which came out in December last year, was another huge success with a staggering 192.6m views. It appears to be a recurring theme as season three has now broken another record for the second week in a row, hitting 106.3M views in just 10 days, which is more than any Netflix series in any language has ever reached in two weeks, Variety reports. The third installment of Squid Game has now joined the first two seasons at the top of the most-watched non-English shows on Netflix, sitting in third place. Last week, the show was hailed as the biggest TV launch for Netflix in history after accumulating an eye watering 60.1M views in just three days, the Metro reports. For those who have now seen the show, the plot of Squid Game follows Player 456, Seong Gi-Hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, who enters a competition with a prize of 45.6bn won (£24.9M). However, the life changing jackpot comes with a deadly catch as each task kills off more players with only one person left alive by the end of the games. After winning in the first season, Gi-hun re-enters the game in second season with the sole purpose of enacting revenge. In the third season, we see Gi-hun's attempts to take the lethal games down from the inside as he goes face-to-face with the overseer, the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun). The highly anticipated finale has received mixed reviews from critics. The Verge wrote in a review: "The third season's worldbuilding efforts remain frustratingly unimaginative for the most part, although the season's final 10 minutes deliver some of its most glorious moments that take place outside the games" Meanwhile, the Hollywood Reporter wrote: "It brings me no pleasure to report that the third and thankfully last of Squid Game seasons only confirms that we, like Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), should've left that cursed island behind for good after his first victory." Meanwhile The Wrap argued: "The show proves it's still more than capable of rendering a tragically compelling story that manages to entertain and have you emotionally invested in its characters." Fans will have to tune in to find out what happens in the grand finale of the show and whether or not creator Hwang Dong-hyuk managed to pull a hatntrick out the bag. Join the Daily Record's WhatsApp community here an d get the latest news sent straight to your messages One thing is for sure, Lee has no doubts that playing the leading role in Squid Game has been a 'career defining role' for him. After the season three premiere, he told the Metro: "When I was reading the scripts for seasons two and three, I knew that he would be put on another rollercoaster, and even more so. So I thought, wow, if I just play this character very well, it's going to be a very amazing, career-defining role for me." Meanwhile, Hwang has already teased his ideas for a potential spin off meaning there may still be more to come for the Squid Game universe.

Princess Kate heartbreak as righthand woman for 15 years makes bombshell move
Natasha Archer has been a member of the Royal Family's staff since 2010 when she joined as a personal assistant for Princess Kate and Prince William - but now she has reportedly stepped away Princess Kate's righthand woman has reportedly stepped away from her service after 15 years. Natasha Archer is set to leave Kensington Palace after 15 years of dedicated service to Kate, according to People. Known affectionately as "Tash," Archer, 37, joined the staff for the Royal Family in 2010 as a personal assistant for Princess Kate and Prince William. After taking on the role, Archer became a key part of Kate's team and was known as her unofficial stylist. She was recently the senior private executive assistant to the Prince and Princess of Wales. With an eye for British fashion, Archer became instrumental in curating Princess Kate's wardrobe ahead of several royal engagements and tours, including Australia and New Zealand where Kate wore 24 outfits in 19 days. Archer helped Kate emerge as a prominent wearer of designers Alexander McQueen and Kenny Packham. The apparent " Kate Middleton Effect" became a fashion phenomenon with items she ended up wearing selling out shortly afterwards. In a daring first for a Royal, Archer ended up persuading William to wear a traditional sherwani to a 2019 reception in Pakistan. She also worked alongside Kate to upscale several of her dresses in a bid to become environmentally conscious, which led to her renting a dress for the Earthshot Prize Awards in Boston, Massachusetts, in 2022. The top staffer joined Kate during a tough five-hour hike in the mountainous country of Bhutan in 2016, in case the princess needed an outfit change. Archer has not just been by Kate's side for trips and tours, and was by her side at St Mary's Hospital to assist by handing over an outfit and baby seat shortly before the birth of Prince George in 2013. Archer went on to have some baby joy of her own, and is now a mother of two after she married Getty royal photographer Chris Jackson in 2017. She was promoted in 2022 and led a senior private executive assistant role. Archer is now moving on to her next chapter while William and Kate remain focused on their roles, with the latter easing her way back into public life after she was diagnosed with cancer last year.
