Shankland signs new deal with Hearts
The move ends months of speculation and the 29-year-old has made a phenomenal impact in maroon since arriving in Gorgie in July 2022, scoring 28 goals in 2022/23 and 31 goals in 2023/24, a tally which helped fire the Jam Tarts into Europe two years-in-a row.
He is the first Hearts player since John Robertson in 1991/92 to score 20 goals in all competitions and only the second Hearts player to reach 50 strikes in the 21st century.
Derek McInnes, Hearts' new head coach, told the official Hearts Website: 'Lawrence has been a big player for the club, he knows his way about the Premiership, knows his way to goal.
'It just made so much sense on so many levels for me (for Lawrence to re-sign).'
The former Aberdeen and Kilmarnock boss added: 'I've known Lawrence since he was a young boy and I know how important family is to him and how important being happy is.
'I always felt that that was a huge advantage for us. Not only does he enjoy his time at Hearts, those family connections are always very strong.
'I do feel that having that recognised No 9, a goal scorer with a real pedigree, Scotland internationalist, the motivation for Lawerence to do well here at not only a club that he loves, a club that he's happy with.'
Shankland jetted to Spain to join the club's pre-season training camp on Wednesday night and McInnes said: 'You see the way he's embraced his teammates this morning.
'He's a really popular boy, but he's got so much to do here.
'In my time at Hearts, I want to make sure it's successful and I want Lawrence to feel exactly the same and he does.
'We want to be lifting silverware. We want to be going into group stages in Europe and we want to have a consistent thing going here. That is the driver for all of us. I do feel that having Lawrence in the building gives us a better chance of achieving all that.'

But it was as comfortable as it could have got for the Premiership's defending champions. The Celts boss was still without his international players for this friendly. The likes of Kasper Schmeichel, Alistair Johnston, Liam Scales, Kieran Tierney, Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah have all yet to report back from their summer break. Johnny Kenny got the goal and it was a terrific finish from the young Irishman who continues to look the part in a hoops shirt. His sweeping finish high into the roof of the net gave Ferie no chance. At the other end, Ross Doohan was making his Celtic debut and he only had one real stop to make - from a shot from Jamie Bradley - which he did comfortably. The ex-Aberdeen goalkeeper was the only away player who stayed on for the second-half. Rodgers took all of his outfield men off at half-time and gave ten kids the opportunity to catch his eye. Stephen Welsh took the skipper's armband from McGregor. With so many teenagers out on the park it was a chance for Queen's to compete more. But the eager rookies continued to dominate the ball with Kyle Ure, Conor Daly, Sean McArdle and Ben Summers the ones to watch. They all oozed class and confidence on and off the ball as they were clearly determined to impress their gaffer. Striker Samuel Isiguzo should have made it 2-0 in the closing stages but his shot lacked power to beat Ferie. After the miss, he could have been forgiven for turning to cigarettes and alcohol. Sorry. Kilmarnock defeated rivals Ayr United in Rory McKenzie's testimonial match, despite the midfielder missing a penalty. Hearts' are close to signing both Pierre Landry Kabore and Sabah Kerjota as the club's double transfer move looks set to pay off. It is understood both wingers are preparing to move to Tynecastle Park and could be in Edinburgh as early as next week. Negotiations for Kabore and Kerjota have gone smoothly as Hearts look to strengthen the right side of their forward line. Both men favour the right flank, although Kabore is also effective through the middle. Kabore's club in Estonia, JK Narva Trans, are expecting his departure after 12 goals and two assists from 15 league appearances so far this season. He also scored 10 goals in five cup games for the Meistriliiga side. The 23-year-old is keen to play top-flight football after helping Sambenedettese gain promotion from the regional leagues last season. He and Kabore, also 23, will compete for the right-sided berth in Gorgie provided there is no unexpected late setback with their deals. Both players were identified by Hearts' recruitment partner, Jamestown Analytics, as talents who have the potential to develop further. Narva Trans, who play in Estonia's top flight, signed Kabore from FC D'Abodo in Ivory Coast last year. His previous clubs include Sonabel, Salitas and ASF Bobo in Burkina Faso. He holds two caps for his country and is regarded as one of their most promising young players. Kerjota's contract at Sambenedettese runs until 2028 and Hearts are paying a fee to bring him to Scotland. He scored 10 goals and claimed 11 assists last season to help his club achieve promotion. 'Talks are advanced or we wouldn't talk about it but nothing is certain,' said the Sambenedettese sporting director Stefano De Angelis earlier this week. 'We'll evaluate everything. If negotiations are concluded it'll be beneficial for the player because this is a great opportunity for him but it has to be beneficial for Sab, too.'If that's the case then credit to the player and his agent.
