China targets India's mfg sector, delays machinery delivery, pulls iPhone engrs

NEW DELHI: In what has the potential to disturb India's strong march in manufacturing, tensions with China have seen the neighbouring country delay delivery of critical machinery while ordering the pullout of some of its citizens from Indian factories, including those engaged in engineering and manufacturing jobs at Foxconn, Apple's contract manufacturer. This comes just as China has also put curbs on export of magnets to India that are used in making of automobile and electronic products. Sources said there has been a "massive pressure" at the operations of Foxconn in India, with the Taiwanese giant employing a "few hundred key Chinese personnel" at its factories in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. iPhone mfg schedule may be hit as China pulls out techies While their strength is less than 1% of employees, they play a key part in managing operations, including production and quality. With Chinese govt asking its citizens to pull out, it may create disturbance in production schedule of iPhones," a source said. Questions sent to officials of Apple and Foxconn in India did not get any response. Govt sources said the problem has been festering for the last few months and the companies, given the large global presence, have tapped some of their other operations for manpower. The situation is equally worrisome at the operations of top Chinese phone companies such as Oppo and Vivo, that have large manufacturing facilities in the country. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like I Saved R4,500 a Year by Doing This Simple Car Insurance Trick AutoTrends Learn More Undo "While the companies have limited Chinese officials in India, they are worried about 'what more' can follow after this step. Please remember that both Apple and the Chinese makers import a lot of components from China that are used to manufacture final products in India," the source said. It is understood that Indian govt is seized of the matter, and there are also speculations that 'China may be doing a tit-for-tat on India', especially as their corporate personnel have faced a lot of issues in getting business visas. "We intend to send a detailed report on the matter to the govt so that the issue is flagged off before it explodes into another crisis like the matter related to magnet supply," an industry source said. For Apple, India has emerged as a major production hub and the share of the company in India's export basket has grown severalfold in recent years and govt does not want any disruptions. Govt officials said that in the past China has often sought to block machinery to be used in key Indian factories after learning about the facility moving or coming up in India. These steps come at a time when companies are looking to diversify their production bases and are adding capacity in India, often at the expense of expanding in China or doing so at a slower pace. Working out at THIS time can help lower blood sugar

Research indicates that the timing of exercise significantly impacts blood sugar levels. A study involving 186 adults revealed that engaging in moderate to vigorous physical activity in the evening leads to the most substantial reduction in blood glucose, particularly for those overweight, obese, or with sedentary habits. Prioritizing afternoon-to-evening movement is feasible for glucose regulation. Struggling to regulate blood sugar? Lifestyle changes, including exercise, may help. But timing is everything. While regular exercise is a good tool to keep glucose levels in check, new research suggests that when you work out could be just as important as how often you do it. A new study conducted by Spanish researchers found that the time of the workout matters if you want to lower blood sugar. The new study is published in Obesity . Timing matters The news study suggests that exercising at a specific time of day may offer greater benefits for people looking to lower their blood sugar naturally. People with a risk for type 2 diabetes or those struggling with insulin resistance may benefit more from this method. The researchers found that engaging in moderate to vigorous physical activity in the evening is good for lowering daily blood sugar levels, with the greatest benefits seen in adults who are overweight, obese, or lead sedentary lifestyles. Though it was known that moderate to vigorous physical activity can enhance glucose homeostasis in adults with overweight and obesity who are at higher risk of developing insulin resistance, little was known about the optimal timing of moderate to vigorous physical activity to improve daily blood glucose control. 'Our results highlight the importance of the field of precision exercise prescription. In clinical practice, certified sports and medical personnel should consider the optimal timing of the day to enhance the effectiveness of the exercise and physical activity programs they prescribe,' Jonatan R. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Ruiz, PhD, professor of physical activity and health, Department of Physical and Sports Education, Faculty of Sport Sciences-Sport and Health University Research Institute (iMUDS), University of Granada, said in a statement. The study To understand the link between physical activity and its impact on blood sugar, the researchers observed 186 adults with an average age of 46 and a body mass index (BMI) of 32.9. The participant wore a device to monitor glucose patterns and physical activity for 14 days. The researchers categorized daily physical activity based on the time of day when it occurred. Days were classified as 'inactive' if no moderate to vigorous physical activity was recorded. Otherwise, activity was grouped into four time-based categories: morning (6 a.m. to noon), afternoon (noon to 6 p.m.), evening (6 p.m. to midnight), or mixed if no single time block accounted for more than 50% of the activity. The findings The study showed that performing more than half of daily moderate to vigorous physical activity in the evening was associated with the greatest reduction in blood glucose levels. This effect was especially pronounced among participants with impaired glucose regulation. 'As the field moves towards individualized exercise prescriptions for different chronic conditions, this study now provides additional insights beyond just telling patients to 'move more,' but instead to move as often as possible and to prioritize afternoon-to-evening movement when feasible for glucose regulation,' Renee J. Rogers, PhD, FACSM, senior scientist, Division of Physical Activity and Weight Management, University of Kansas Medical Center, added. Mandya varsity gets AICTE nod to launch MBA, MCA programmes

Mandya: In a major boost to higher education in the region, Mandya University received approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to launch MBA and MCA programmes starting from the 2025-26 academic year. Additionally, the university is introducing emerging technology subjects—Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Cloud Computing—as optional electives in the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programme. Until now, students from Mandya aspiring to pursue postgraduate degrees in business administration or computer applications had to travel to other cities, often facing challenges related to travel, expenses, and accommodation. With this new development, students will now have the opportunity to continue their higher studies closer to home. Speaking to TOI, K Shivachithappa, vice-chancellor of Mandya University, said, "We received AICTE approval a few days ago. Many of our students pursuing BBA, BCom, and BCA were struggling to continue their studies in MBA and MCA due to the lack of local options. This initiative will provide much-needed relief and create new opportunities within the district." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo Affordability for students: VC The university has allocated 120 seats for MBA and 60 seats for MCA, with admissions being routed through the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). "This ensures affordability for students, with annual fees set at approximately Rs 75,000 for MBA and Rs 49,000 for MCA. In case seats remain unfilled through KEA, they will be filled through the roster system," Shivachithappa added. He also highlighted that the university has the necessary infrastructure and faculty in place to effectively deliver these programmes. "This move will also help the university generate internal resources and elevate its academic profile," he noted. Recognising the growing demand for AI and related fields, the university's syndicate approved the inclusion of AI, ML, and Cloud Computing as optional subjects in the BCA curriculum from this academic year. Looking ahead, the university is also preparing to launch Master of Physical Education (MPEd) and MEd programmes. While these will not begin this academic year, the groundwork for their introduction in the next academic cycle is already under way. This development marks a significant step in strengthening Mandya University's academic offerings and making quality higher education more accessible to local students.
