
Man critically injured in Oakville shooting believed to have been targeted, police say

A man is in life-threatening condition after a 'targeted' shooting in Oakville early Saturday morning, Halton police say.
Emergency crews were called to the area of Cross Avenue and Trafalgar Road just before 12:30 a.m.
Police say a man was sitting inside his parked vehicle outside Hashtag Garden Modern Kitchen and Lounge when two men from another vehicle got out and approached him.

There was a confrontation, and the man was shot, police say. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, the suspects, who were wearing dark clothing and face coverings, fled the parking lot in a late-model grey Honda CR-V SUV, police say.
'Unfortunately, there is limited information available about the suspects at this time. It appears that the victim was specifically targeted in this incident,' police said in a news release.
They are asking anyone with information, including dashcam footage of the area between 11 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday, to call 905-825-4776 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Unidentified body found in the Rivière des Prairies in Montreal
An unidentified body was found Saturday afternoon in the Rivière des Prairies in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough of Montreal. Shortly before 3:20 p.m., police officers from the Montreal police's (SPVM) 10th precinct were informed of the possible presence of a body in the river. Once on the scene, police located an unresponsive and unidentifiable body near the shore, not far from the intersection of Gouin Boulevard West and Martin Avenue, explained SPVM spokesperson Julien Lévesque. Charges laid in Strathroy homicide investigation; victim identified
Strathroy-Caradoc police were called to Ashby Crescent June 27, 2025, following reports of a homicide. (Bryan Bicknell/CTV News London) Strathroy-Caradoc police have charged one person in connection to a homicide investigation that began Friday afternoon. Police were called to Ashby Crescent around 5 p.m. for reports of a medical emergency. Police say when they arrived, they found a man with apparent stab wounds outside of a residence. Endy Moniz, 27, of Strathroy, was pronounced dead on scene. Police have charged 27-year-old Joel Peralta Del Valle, of Strathroy, with first-degree murder. The accused remains in custody, and police say there is no threat to public safety. The investigation remains ongoing.

Mississauga driver dies in Dufferin County crash
An Ontario Provincial Police vehicle is stationed next to a property with a large windmill. Provincial police are investigating a fatal collision in Shelburne Saturday evening that resulted in the death of a Toronto area driver. According to Dufferin OPP, the crash involved two SUVs on Highway 10 between Highway 89 and 30 Side Road, and detachment officers responded to the scene at around eight o'clock. Police say one of the drivers, a 55-year-old from Mississauga, died in the crash, while three others were hospitalized with a range of minor and serious injuries. Dufferin County Paramedics, Shelburne fire crews, the Ministry of Transportation and OPP's technical collision investigators were all involved in the emergency response and initial investigation. Police say the investigation remains ongoing and anyone with footage or additional information about the incident is asked to contact Dufferin OPP.
