New Jersey linebacker Tahj Gray offered scholarship to Notre Dame
Notre Dame's Irish Invasion recruiting camp last weekend was quite the success, and it led to another offer for a standout performer.
Class of 2028 linebacker Tahj Gray received an offer from the Fighting Irish following his strong showing against fellow prospects. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder from St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, NJ) excelled at the camp both at linebacker and defensive end.
Making things even more special is his older brother, Chaz Gray, also was offered by the Irish. Chaz is a 6-foot-4, 225-pound three-star edge product in the Class of 2027.
Notre Dame's excellence on the recruiting trail under Marcus Freeman and his staff have the program built for sustained success, and it's being noticed nationally.

Kane Wommack updates status of injured Alabama defensive back

On Saturday afternoon, Alabama Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Kane Wommack spoke to the media for what was the first time since fall camp officially began. As part of this, Wommack, who is entering his second season as defensive coordinator at Alabama, commented on many different areas of the Crimson Tide defense, some of which were players. Among that group of players in particular was returning safety Keon Sabb, who is currently working his way back from a season-ending injury sustained last October against Tennessee. Wommack was also asked the question if Sabb has since returned to 100% following Saturday's practice as well, with the Alabama defensive coordinator saying of the returning starter: "Keon's doing a really good job," Wommack said. "He has really pushed, our training staff's done a great job with him. I think he's ahead of really every marker that we had in the offseason for him, and we weren't sure if he was going to be able to go to the level that he's going right now at the beginning of fall camp, but he is, and he's here. I don't know if I could put a number on it exactly, but I mean, he's out there playing with our guys, and so he's comfortable enough to be able to do that. Sometimes, those injuries, you just have to build a callous of coming back, and I think that's something that he's really pushing himself right now to get ready for the season." Transferring from Michigan last offseason, Sabb was a day-one starter for the Crimson Tide at safety a year ago who compiled 39 tackles and 0.5 TFL across his seven games played. Sabb also had two interceptions, both of which came in the season opener against Western Kentucky. Sabb, a redshirt junior, is expected the start for the Crimson Tide at safety once again this fall, opposite of Bray Hubbard. Steelers star T.J. Watt opens up about challenges in facing OT Troy Fautanu

Troy Fautanu shocked the Steel City with his handling of T.J. Watt in Latrobe — but the star defender isn't shying away from defeat; he welcomes the challenge. Selected with the 20th overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Steelers hold Fautanu in high regard heading into 2025 — and so does Watt, who recently explained why facing off against the second-year Steeler is already paying dividends. 'And for me, it's awesome because Troy's a young guy, comes from college," Watt said via NFL Training Camp Interviews on SiriusXM. "I go up against a lot of young tackles at times, but he's very, very athletic. He's not that giant, oversized tackle that can't move. So it's a lot of fun for me to be able to go up against him and get his feet moving. And it challenges me every day.' Earlier this week in training camp, Fautanu turned heads with two pass-block wins against Watt. While some may be quick to shift criticism toward the new highest-paid non-quarterback in the league, the situation speaks more to the abilities of Fautanu — who's primed for a Year 2 breakout. Steel sharpens steel is the definition of the battles between these two talented players — and clearly, Watt is excited about what he'll gain from these opportunities this season.
