A young woman who was murdered by her boyfriend will be honoured in Edinburgh by her loved ones.
Phoenix Spencer-Horn's family have raised thousands of pounds for a domestic abuse charity to commemorate her. They plan on continuing her "legacy of love" by supporting Glasgow Women's Aid at the Kiltwalk in September.
The 21-year-old was brutally killed by Ewan Methven at their home in East Kilbride last November, and he was described in court as the 'personification of evil. Methven dialled 999 after his heinous crimes, insisting he had a 'drug-induced blackout' and didn't remember what he'd done, reports Lanarkshire Live.
However, it emerged that after stabbing Phoenix, he decapitated and mutilated her body and pretended to her mother she was still alive. She had suffered a total of 20 stab wounds - the fatal one to the chest.
The 27-year-old postman admitted to the gruesome murder when he appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow on Tuesday, June 17. He faces a life sentence when he is back in court on July 14.
In the days following her tragic death, a fundraiser was set up to help with funeral costs, with everything left over donated to Women's Aid. The fundraiser netted £6465 and the charity have thanked Phoenix's family and those who donated for their support.
'Phe's Angel Fighters' GoFundMe page has now been set up for the Kiltwalk fundraiser and has already raised more than £4000.
Organiser Jen Strachan said: "Our darling Phoenix was only 21 when she was taken from us, leaving the biggest hole in our hearts.

"Phe was the most high spirited, cheerful daughter and friend with the best sense of humour - always looking out for other people and putting others first. Her name, Phoenix, now stands for more than loss. It stands for action. For change. For refusing to let her story end in silence. This is what it means to rise from the ashes - to take devastation and use it to protect others.
"On the 14th September, a number of us will be walking 20 miles in support of Glasgow Women's Aid but most importantly, to remember our beautiful friend, Phoenix. Phe's legacy will live on forever, her name will never be forgotten and she will always be the girl with the stunning smile. We love you Phe."
Highlighting the fundraiser on their Facebook page, Glasgow Women's Aid described Phoenix as a "high-spirited, funny, fiercely caring young woman who always put others first" and thanked her family for helping to prevent the loss of more young women to male violence.
The charity said: "Phoenix was only 21 when she was taken from her family and friends. Her loss left an enormous hole in the lives of those who knew and loved her.

"Her family and friends continue to show amazing courage and extraordinary strength by using Phe's story to raise awareness and funds to help prevent any other family experiencing pain like theirs. This September, Phe's friends will be walking 20 miles in her name and in doing so have chosen to raise money for Glasgow Women's Aid.
"We cannot express our gratitude enough for this. The money raised will help us to continue to help women and girls in abusive relationships and prevent the loss of other young women to male violence. Phe leaves a legacy of love. It is clear from the support we have had from her friends and family and the public. It is clear from the willingness of her friends and family to give in Phoenix's name.
"By walking in her name, Phoenix's friends are helping to raise vital funds for women and children experiencing domestic abuse - and reminding us all what it means to rise from the ashes."
Roasted Cafe in Strathaven, where Phoenix worked, posted: "Last year we lost a friend, a colleague, a daughter and a presence. With this in mind there is a group of Phe's family, friends and colleagues doing the Kiltwalk in September.
"We are all raising awareness for her loss and others in need. If you can help make a difference and keep Phe's spirit alive then get behind the cause."

Brit dad unable to speak after holiday hotspot 'assault' and bleed on brain
Speaking for Ashton Jones' family, Angela Roden Shepherd said the dad is slowly regaining his ability to speak at a hospital in Bangkok, but added he isn't yet coherent A Brit dad has been left hooked up to a machine and fighting for his life after he was allegedly beaten "half to death" with a brain bleed. Ashton Jones, 29, had part of his skull removed in emergency surgery following an alleged assault during a holiday with friends in Thailand that left him unable to talk nearly a month later. The dad, from Cwmbran, Wales, had flown out to Bangkok with his group on May 30, but disappeared during a night out in the early hours of June 3. His shocked pals had no idea what had happened until he turned up at Chonburi Hospital, where doctors had placed him on life support. Ashton's friends say he had made a "miraculous recovery" as he remains in hospital care after the incident, but while he is now talking, he is not completely coherent. Speaking to WalesOnline on behalf of Ashton's family, Angela Roden Shepherd said he is "making very steady progress" with the family set to move him to rehabilitation following his "miraculous improvement" after his dad, Darren, refused a "do not resuscitate" order. She said: 'He's making very steady progress. "The next move is to get him back into the rehabilitation place he originally was in before he got a lung infection. To put into context just how miraculous a recovery Ashton has made so far, Darren was actually asked if he wanted to put a do not resuscitate order on Ashton just a week ago. "Darren said 'absolutely not' and in a few days Ashton had made a miraculous improvement. I spoke to Ashton a couple of days ago. He's talking. He's not coherent but he's able to communicate. He's off the ventilator. "He still has to be tube fed and he still has oxygen fed to him, and he still has to be restrained because he's in a lot of pain." Ashton's family aim to return the dad to Wales in a few weeks, where he will receive further treatment at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport, including an operation to replace a lost part of his skull with the titanium plate. Angela added that the family, with the help of a British man and Thai woman who are putting up Ashton's father, has also spoken with police in Thailand, who they claim believe Ashton was assaulted. She said he was "beaten half to death", but added that the family has refrained from speculation as the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack remain unconfirmed. She said: "We don't know the circumstances around how and why, so we're not going to speculate. 'Ashton is starting to mumble things but it's too incoherent. The chances of catching them are virtually zero and the chances of getting money back to get Ashton home are virtually zero too.' Ashton travelled to Thailand without medical insurance, and his family is attempting to pay for the costs with a GoFundMe fundraiser, which has so far raised more than £22,000. Angela said: "We really need all the help we can get. We're still short of the funds we need to get Ashton back. Any help at all is greatly appreciated."
