BRS questions BJP's silence on encroachment of Bhadradri lands in A.P.

HYDERABAD
Working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao criticised State president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) N. Ramachander Rao for his silence on the encroachment of 889 acres of Bhadrachalam temple lands in the villages transferred from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh within a month of formation of the State in 2014.
He sought to know whether Mr. Ramchander Rao had no time to react to the encroachment of temple lands in A.P. or keeping quiet only to protect political interests in the neighbouring State. Mr. Rama Rao suggested the BJP leader to keep aside the political alliances and protect the temple lands at least by ensuring the implementation of High Court orders.
In a statement, the BRS leader sought to know whether Telangana BJP was keeping quiet as the lands were in the confinement of the party alliance partner there or it was part of a plan to hand over Bhadradri as a whole.
Engineers Day
Meanwhile, Mr. Rama Rao paid rich tributes to Nawab Ali Nawaz Jung, a legendary engineer who designed projects such as Osman Sagar, Himayat Sagar, Nizam Sagar, Dindi, Koil Sagar, Kaddam, Pochampad, Lower Manair as also iconic structures such as Osmania University Arts College, Afzalgunj State Central Library, Osmania Hospital and others on his birth anniversary.
Separately, former minister for irrigation T. Harish Rao said Ali Nawaz Jung was among the great engineers such as Sir Arthur Cotton, Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, K.L. Rao and others. He stated that the BRS government in the past had declared Ali Nawaz Jung's birthday as the Telangana Engineers Day.

HC notices to MLAs Thakre, Datke over poll pleas

Nagpur: The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court on Wednesday issued notices to Congress MLA Vikas Thakre and BJP MLA Pravin Datke in response to separate election petitions filed by their opponents in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections. The court granted both leaders eight weeks to file their replies. Thakre's victory from West Nagpur was challenged by independent candidate advocate Pritam Khandate. Datke, who won from Central Nagpur, faced a petition from his opponent, Mohammad Imran Qureshi. Both petitions were filed within the 45-day statutory period after the declaration of results, complying with provisions under the Representation of the People Act. While the content of the petitions was not disclosed during the brief proceedings, legal observers note that such challenges typically involve allegations related to electoral conduct or procedural lapses. "The court has granted time for the respondents to file detailed replies," the petitioners said.

DMK using state funds for party activities: Nainar

Trichy: BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran has accused the DMK govt of misusing state funds to promote Ungaludan Stalin scheme as a party activity, and using senior bureaucrats as propaganda secretaries of DMK. He was speaking at the BJP urban party office in Trichy on Wednesday where he visited to discuss the reception for Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is scheduled to visit the state on July 26 and 27. "I oppose the Ungaludan Stalin programme. It's a party activity; I wonder how senior bureaucrats agree to run this scheme. This is not right, and we cannot allow it," Nagenthran said. He added that DMK's Oraniyil Tamil Nadu initiative is an unwanted and deceptive move since the state is within India. "We want to unseat DMK from power in 2026, and our alliance is intact. But nobody is questioning the chief minister about the unity of DMK's alliance," Nagenthran said. He said the PM would inaugurate the new Tuticorin airport terminal on July 26 evening and take part in Aadi Thiruvathirai festival at Gangaikonda Cholapuram in Ariyalur district on July 27.

Correct injustice done to Telugu netas, make Dattatreya VP: Revanth

1 2 Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said the BJP-led NDA govt can "correct the grave injustice done to the Telugu leaders at the national level" by nominating BC leader from Telangana , Bandaru Dattatreya , for the vice-president's post. He, however, hastened to add that this was the demand from the people of Telangana and that the INDIA bloc's consensus candidate would be decided by the AICC leadership and other members. On my behalf, I will personally request the AICC to name Dattatreya. Modi should protect the self-respect of the Telugu people and appoint Dattatreya as the vice-president," Revanth claimed. "Telugu is the most spoken language in the country after Hindi, and the most spoken language in south India," he told reporters in New Delhi. "All these years, the BJP has conspired against the Telugu people and not allowed Telugu leadership to rise to key national positions. There was a discussion on making Venkaiah Naidu the President, but he was asked to vacate his official residence and sent back home. Unki ghar wapsi kar dee." "Earlier, he was stripped of his Union ministership. This was given to G Kishan Reddy. Another BC leader, Bandi Sanjay, was removed from the post of BJP state president. Now, a Brahmin has been appointed as the new state BJP chief." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Swelling and internal bleeding in the brain, help this baby Donate For Health Donate Now Undo Revanth suggested that the BJP can "wash off its sins" by making Dattatreya the vice-president. "The BJP-led NDA has consistently meted out injustice to the BC leaders from south India, especially Telangana. To make up for that injustice — '100 khoon maaf karne ke liye' (to pardon those 100 wrongs) — they should appoint Dattatreya as the next vice-president," he said.
