The Hindu29-04-2025
The Government of Andhra Pradesh is all set to inaugurate 10 MSME Parks and lay foundation for another 40 on May 1, 2025.
'The MSME Parks in Anakapalli, Pileru and other areas, which are ready in all aspects, will be dedicated to the people by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the Atmakur MSME Park in Nellore district. He will also lay the foundation for construction of the proposed 40 parks,' Kondapalli Srinivas, Minister for MSME, told The Hindu here on Tuesday.
Of the ambitious target of constructing 175 MSME Parks in each Assembly constituency, the government completed 10, he said. Besides laying the stone for 40 more parks, it was proposed to commence work on 45 additional parks in six months and take up work on the remaining parks after one year. 'The government aims to complete all the parks in three years,' Mr. Srinivas said.
'Interested persons may apply for allotment of land in the 10 parks from May 1,' Mr. Srinivas said. The government was planning to designate sectoral MSME Parks, among the 175, depending on the demand and resources available in the respective areas.
At the same time, he said the government would encourage private MSME Parks as well, he said.
The Minister said the government planned to construct at least one Flatted Factory Complex (FFC) in each constituency, which would be of help to the micro industries having an investment of about ₹20 lakh. 'Both the MSMEs and FFCs will nourish the economy by creating employment and industrial opportunities,' Mr. Srinivas said.
The government negotiated with the bankers to provide ₹1.28 lakh crore loan to the MSMEs for the 2025-26 Financial Year, he said, adding that it was about 48% higher than the previous year's loan limit of ₹87,000 crore for the sector.
He said the bankers accepted the proposal of the government at the State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) meeting on Tuesday.

CM Yogi Adityanath Launches Youth Conclave and Expo-2025 in Lucknow

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the CM Yuva Conclave and Expo-2025 at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Gomtinagar, on Wednesday, marking a significant step toward empowering youth through self-employment under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan. The two-day event aims to integrate entrepreneurial opportunities with direct access to resources and financial support for young aspirants across the state. The Chief Minister inspected stalls showcasing franchise businesses, mobile enterprises, and advanced machinery. A key highlight of the event was the launch of the U.P. Mart Portal, a digital platform designed to connect aspiring entrepreneurs with suppliers, service providers, and institutional guidance. This integrated portal will serve as a one-stop solution for young entrepreneurs seeking streamlined access to tools and training. During his address to the audience, MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan announced that loans totalling Rs 2,751.82 crore have been distributed to 67,897 youths to date. This includes Rs 1,607.81 crore granted to 39,223 beneficiaries in the current fiscal year alone. The scheme targets 1.5 lakh youth, offering interest-free, collateral-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh—supplemented by a 10% subsidy—for individuals aged 21–40 with at least a Class VIII qualification. Since its launch on January 24, 2025, the initiative has seen over 6 lakh registrations. The conclave drew participation from more than 150 franchise brands, 75 machinery providers, 50 mobile business models, 25 major banks, and 30 government departments, alongside academic institutions such as IIT Kanpur, HBTU, AKTU, Lucknow University, Ambedkar University, and Amity University. Several MoUs were signed during the event to deepen partnerships in entrepreneurship and skill development. Youth attendees benefited from direct interactions with businesses and received financial literacy and entrepreneurial guidance from banking and departmental experts. Ten beneficiaries were felicitated with loan cheques on stage, and twelve others received letters of consent to initiate ventures with leading brands. Notably, well-known franchise brands like Garage have announced a waiver of franchise fees for the youth of Uttar Pradesh, providing additional incentives for aspiring entrepreneurs. The event featured panel discussions led by senior officials, academics, bankers, and successful entrepreneurs, who shared insights on startup strategies, innovation, and financial planning. Success stories from scheme beneficiaries such as Prabhunur Kaur (Kanpur), Vijay Pandey (Lucknow), Shashank Chaurasia, Tuba Siddiqui, and Amar Deep Singh (Sitapur) served to inspire the attendees. Minister Sachan praised the launch of the CM Yuva Mobile App and the U.P. Mart Portal as milestones in strengthening the state's entrepreneurial framework. He emphasised the significance of district-wise participation, directing officials to ensure representation of at least 50 youth from each district. With more than 5,000 students, apprentices, and innovators in attendance, the conclave reaffirmed the state's commitment to fostering a self-reliant and economically empowered youth community.

‘New GDP series coming on Feb 27, IIP and CPI series to follow'

The next few years will see a flurry of activity for the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), with several updated series of data — such as for Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Index of Industrial Production (IIP), and Consumer Price Index (CPI) — set to be released next year, according to MoSPI Secretary Saurabh Garg. Apart from these updates, MoSPI is also in the process of launching two new surveys, both aimed at measuring how and how much Indian households spend on travel and tourism, apart from also an Annual Survey of Service Sector Enterprises which would provide granular data on the incorporated services sector in India, Mr. Garg told The Hindu in an interview. The new GDP series with a base year of 2022-23 — updated from the previous base year of 2011-12 — will be released on February 27, 2026. The new IIP series, also with an updated base year of 2022-23, will be released April 2026 onwards, and the new Consumer Price Index updated to a base year of 2024 will be released in the first quarter of the next financial year, Mr. Garg added. The IIP currently has a base year of 2011-12 and the CPI of 2012. Further, the next Household Consumption Expenditure Survey (HCES) will be held in 2027-28, and will now be held every three years instead of the earlier five-year interval. Tourism mapping 'MoSPI has launched two new surveys — the National Household Travel Survey (NHTS) and Domestic Tourism Expenditure Survey (DTES) — in July 2025.,' Mr. Garg said. The purpose of the NHTS is to assess the spatial origin-destination matrix for different transportation modes and factors that influence the mode, destination choice, and the price elasticity of travel demand by mode. 'It is also aimed at opening avenues for further research in railways and enhancing the capacity for transport planning in the government, academia and industry,' Mr. Garg added. 'The data from this survey will be used by the Ministry of Railways.' The DTES, on the other hand, will capture details such as expenditure on tourism, purpose of the trip, mode of transport, accommodation used during the trip, final destination within the country, use of various tourism-specific products and services for the trip, etc. Enhancing measurement Apart from simply updating the base year of the GDP and CPI series, MoSPI is also systematically going about bolstering the sources of data it uses to better capture the size of the economy and economic activity in the country. 'In GDP calculation, in addition to the use of data from Office of Controller General of Accounts (CGA), MCA-21, and RBI, as was done in the previous base revision exercise, use of GST data, E-Vahan portal, UPI transaction data from NPCI, is being explored by the National Statistics Office,' Mr. Garg explained. For the new CPI series, MoSPI is expanding its approach by exploring alternative data sources, such as online platforms for airfare, rail fare, over-the-top (OTT) platforms and administrative records for price data of petrol, diesel and LPG, he added. In addition, he said MoSPI is also exploring the use of scanner data and web scraping to enhance the accuracy, efficiency and comprehensiveness of price data collection. 'The possibility of collecting price data from e-commerce websites is also being considered,' he added. Gauging services activity From January 2026, MoSPI is planning to start the Annual Survey of Service Sector Enterprises (ASSSE), which would measure the formal services sector along the lines of the Annual Survey of Industries. MoSPI had conducted a pilot study on the ASSSE, the findings of which were published in the form of a technical report on April 30, 2025. 'The experiences gained during the pilot are being harnessed to launch a full-fledged survey on ASSSE, which is expected to start from January, 2026,' Mr. Garg said. 'The survey of service sector enterprises will fill a huge data gap related to the incorporated service sector of the economy.' He added that the government was tapping the Goods and Services Tax Network database for use as a survey frame for conducting the ASSSE.
