People trying to defame Kanwar Yatris: Adityanath
"We have to keep in mind that where there is enthusiasm and excitement, where there is faith and devotion, some elements are constantly trying to disturb that enthusiasm and to defame this devotion and faith," Mr. Adityanath said at an event here.
Social media is replete with videos showing apparent Kanwar yatris, wearing the saffron associated with them, creating ruckus on roads, ransacking hotels, damaging vehicles, and beating civilians.
Mr. Adityanath claimed there are "miscreants" who infiltrate kanwar groups and bring them bad names.
"Unmask them, keep them away from you at all costs. Do not allow them to enter your circle. Immediately inform the administration about this," he said.
On Friday, Mr. Adityanath had said that efforts were being made to defame Kanwar pilgrims, and they are being termed "terrorists and rioters."
Three kanwariyas were arrested for allegedly assaulting a CRPF jawan following an argument over train tickets at the Mirzapur railway station here, an official said on Sunday.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was going to catch the Brahmaputra Express, while the kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva) also wanted to buy tickets for the same train for going to Baidyanath Dham in Jharkhand.
An argument broke out between them over purchasing the tickets.

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday directed officials to provide land ownership to over 10,000 families which were displaced from the then East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, between 1960 and 1975, and settled in and around Pilibhit, Lakhimpur, Bijnor and Rampur. The CM said if land was not available, alternative plots should be provided to affected families. Officials said that though these families were settled for years and constructed homes, land had not been transferred to them legally for various reasons. "These families, which took refuge in India and have waited for rightful rehabilitation, must be treated with sensitivity and dignity. It is the moral responsibility of the govt," he said. The CM said that with the repeal of the Govt Grants Act in 2018, it was necessary for the govt to explore alternate legal mechanisms to provide land rights to the resettled families. Once they left transit camps, these families were settled in these districts and provided agricultural land, but even now, most of them do not have legal ownership due to discrepancies in records and administrative delays. "Although land has been allotted in several villages, various legal and administrative hurdles, including land being recorded under the forest department, incomplete transfer procedures, and a lack of physical possession, have prevented many families from receiving formal land rights. In some areas, families from other states have also been resettled but continue to remain without legal ownership," an official informed the CM. "In many villages, the displaced families have been cultivating land for years and have even constructed permanent homes, but their names are missing from official land records. There are cases of original allottees no longer residing in these areas. Additionally, in certain areas, individuals have taken possession of land without completing the necessary legal formalities, leading to complications," the official said.

3 held in UPs Muzaffarnagar for conspiracy to commit terror act: Police
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Lucknow, Jul 21 (PTI) Three men were arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district on Monday in connection with an alleged conspiracy to spread communal tensions and perpetrate a terror attack, police said in a statement. Since Muzaffarnagar is a 'sensitive district" and the Kanwar Yatra is going on, a close watch is being kept on the social media and information is being collected from a security point of view, police added. 'In this regard, Kakrauli police station (in Muzaffarnagar) got information that some people in Kakrauli village are making a horrific, dangerous and sensational video and audio viral on the Kakrauli Yuva Ekta WhatsApp group, in which bodies of women and small children are shown lying soaked in blood in a house," the statement said. 'In the audio clip, it is being said that the video is from near Mansoorpur Tharak Nagla in Moradabad district, where some people of Bajrang Dal are entering Muslim houses, killing people and not sparing anyone, be it young or old, women or children," it added. It was also being said in the audio that Muslims are being killed in this way in many villages and an appeal was made to make the video viral by sharing it as much as possible, the statement said. A team from the Kakrauli police station arrested the three men for allegedly sharing the misleading audio and video on social media and a case was registered against them under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Information Technology Act. Station Officer (SO), Kakrauli police station, Joginder Singh told PTI that Nadeem (25), Rahees (35) and Mansher (45) had shared the said video and audio clips in different WhatsApp groups. Nadeem is a vegetable vendor and labourer and Rahees sells clothes and utensils. Both of them had studied up to Class 5, while Mansher, a junk dealer, had studied up to Class 6. 'Following detailed interrogation of Nadeem, Rahees and Mansher, and an analysis of the evidence, it came to light that prima facie, this viral video is of an incident from April 2024, which had taken place in Muzaffargarh district of Pakistan, where a man killed his wife and seven children by chopping them with an axe," the statement said. It added that the video was circulated as part of a 'well-planned" conspiracy to incite the members of a particular community in Moradabad district to carry out terror incidents in western Uttar Pradesh. 'Their intention was to spread communal hatred among people, so that people get attracted towards the ideology of extremism and terrorism, and by inciting innocent people, social harmony can be spoiled, dissatisfaction towards the nation can be created and a major terrorist incident can be carried out," the statement said. Their intention was also to incite people and carry out a 'lone wolf" terror attack, it added. As part of the conspiracy, this video and audio clips were made viral in many WhatsApp groups that have members from a particular community in several districts of western Uttar Pradesh. A detailed technical forensic evaluation of the mobile phones seized from the arrested accused will be done and on the basis of the evidence, all the people involved in the 'forward" and 'backward linkages" in the conspiracy will be identified and strict legal action taken against them, the statement said. 'On the basis of the evidence available till now, this was a very big criminal conspiracy, in which the involvement of some anti-social elements, anti-national organisations, terrorist organisations and Pakistani agencies cannot be ruled out," it said, adding that due to the prompt police action, a 'very big anti-national conspiracy has failed". Three mobile phones have been seized from the possession of the arrested men. Fake Pakistan clip shared to incite riots during kanwar yatra; three arrested in UP; ISI link being probed
AI-generated image for representation NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday arrested three men for circulating a fake video reportedly from Pakistan, claiming killings of Muslims. The police said that three accused confessed their motive to "incite communal tensions" during Kanwar Yatra. Police also suspect the possible involvement of Pakistan-based ISI handlers behind the act. The arrested men have been identified as Nadeem, Mansher, and Rahees. They were caught by the Muzaffarnagar police after the video was shared in several WhatsApp groups, especially on the second Monday of Sawan, when thousands of Kanwar Yatris pass through the region. DIG Saharanpur Abhishek Singh said that during routine social media monitoring, they found a video being circulated that showed murdered children. The video had already reached four large WhatsApp groups, each with hundreds of members. Police believe it may have been shared further through different modules. Raids are being carried out in other states to identify and arrest anyone else involved in this network. A case has been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and the IT Act. Police have also seized three mobile phones used in the crime. Officials have urged the public not to share unverified videos or messages, especially during religious festivals, to avoid creating unnecessary panic or tension.
