MACAU, June 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — As the Official Host Partner of Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025, Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace will host the tenth edition of the annual awards ceremony this coming July. In line with this highly-anticipated celebration of the region's bar industry, the resort will present a diverse program of drinks-focused events taking place in the week surrounding the ceremony on July 15. As the city hosts the prestigious awards for the first time, Wynn will open its signature drinking and dining destinations to takeovers from the world's top talents, offering the patrons exclusive chances to sample exceptional food and beverage from the best of the best across Asia.

KUCHING (July 2): The Padungan Garden public toilet is set to undergo upgrading works as part of Kuching City South Council's (MBKS) ongoing efforts to enhance public infrastructure in support of tourism, heritage, and sustainable urban development. Kuching South Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the upgrading project will be carried under the BP1 allocation, which is designated for minor development works, including upgrades or repairs of public toilets and other facilities. 'Located in the heart of historic Padungan, the public toilet is an essential facility for visitors frequenting the area,' he said in a statement yesterday. Wee noted that Padungan is famously home to the iconic White Cat statue – a popular photo spot for tourists – and has grown increasingly vibrant thanks to its rich heritage and burgeoning gastronomy scene. 'This project is aligned with MBKS' broader vision of building a livable, inclusive, and environmentally-conscious city that offers quality services and infrastructure, especially in areas of high historical and tourism value.' Wee also highlighted Padungan's emergence in recent years as a culinary spot, with numerous new gastronomy outlets contributing to Kuching's identity as a Unesco Creative City of Gastronomy. 'Efforts are underway to ensure our public spaces and facilities support this branding. Clean, accessible, and well-maintained infrastructure is essential for welcoming tourists and ensuring a pleasant visit,' he added. He emphasised that while the toilet upgrading project may seem small, it plays a significant role in elevating Padungan's image as a tourist-friendly and sustainable destination. PM Anwar meets with Italian industry leaders on his second day in Europe
ROME: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim began his second working day in Italy with one-on-one business discussions with top leaders from strategic sectors such as defence and energy. The meetings with Fincantieri and Leonardo, two major Italian defence firms that participated in the recent Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA), have opened doors to long-term ventures. "I stressed the importance of a government-to-government approach to strengthen Malaysia's role as a hub in maintenance, repair, and operations," Anwar said on Thursday (July 2). He emphasised that the session was crucial in maintaining Malaysia's position as a stable and reliable investment destination. Anwar met with Fincantieri CEO Pierroberto Folgiero, Leonardo senior marketing and strategic campaign VP Tomasso Pani, and ENI CEO Claudio Descalzi, along with PETRONAS president and Group CEO Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Kamadjaja Aziz. Diversification ensures Malaysia's economy remains resilient: Miti official
PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia remains on solid footing due to its inclusive and long-term economic strategy despite geopolitical tensions in the Middle East raising concerns over the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz and disruptions to global energy supply. The Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry's bilateral economic and trade relations division director, Raveendran Nair, said Malaysia's consistent approach of diversifying into new markets has allowed the country to stay competitive and resilient against external pressures. 'To be fair, we faced numerous major challenges – from the Asian financial crisis to the US financial crisis, and then the Covid-19 pandemic. 'During Covid-19, we faced an unprecedented and extraordinary situation. Yet, we managed to recover and move towards a progressive recovery trend in this post-pandemic era,' he said at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia's forum Bicara Persada – Iran-Israel War: Implications for Malaysia and the New World Order held here. Raveendran said challenges such as the retaliatory tariffs imposed by the United States do not pose a significant threat to Malaysia's economy because the impact is also felt by other countries. 'There are concerns that these tariffs could shrink our economy. But from a broader perspective, Malaysia is not the only one affected. In Southeast Asia, for example, Singapore faces a 10% tariff, the Philippines is second, and Malaysia faces a 24% rate. Compared to other neighbouring countries in the region, some face tariffs as high as 30 to 40%. So in terms of competitiveness, Malaysia still has an edge,' he said. Raveendran noted that Malaysia's trade with the US accounts for only about 13% (of its total trade), with the rest involving a variety of global markets. 'Our strategy is not to depend on a single country. That's why we continue to diversify our markets. As seen recently, Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has frequently travelled abroad with Miti to conduct business programmes, meet local industry leaders, and identify potential investors to bring into Malaysia. 'This strategy ensures we are not reliant on just one country. If one country's economy declines, we still have other alternatives,' he said. As part of the effort to strengthen trade connectivity, Malaysia is actively signing free trade agreements (FTA) to open up opportunities for national exports. 'For instance, we recently signed the Malaysia-European Free Trade Association agreement, which involves Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. We have also resumed FTA negotiations with the European Union and Gulf countries. Overall, we have 18 FTAs with various nations,' he said. On tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, Raveendran said the situation could potentially impact the global energy supply chain but Malaysia remains focused on strengthening its economic resilience through diverse trade networks and strong internal preparedness.
