Congress cunningly added 'Secularism', 'Socialism' to Preamble: Karnataka LoP R Ashoka
Addressing a press conference, Ashoka also targeted Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. 'Rahul Gandhi demands a caste census on one hand and talks about secularism on the other. I identify myself as a Vokkaliga. Everyone identifies with their caste. If so, the term 'secular' has no meaning. Let Congress leaders show where the words 'secular' and 'socialist' are in the Constitution written by Dr. BR Ambedkar,' he said.
'Jawaharlal Nehru brought the first amendment. He made a total of 17 amendments. Later, Indira Gandhi made 26 amendments. They amended the original intentions of Baba Saheb. Overall, Congress made 68 amendments. Congress cunningly added these two words (secularism and socialism). This needs to be discussed,' he said.
He also took aim at the Congress government in Karnataka, claiming that the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is financially bankrupt. 'Salaries for clinic staff haven't been paid, and several projects are stalled. MLAs like BR Patil have raised concerns. Now, the government will impose more taxes on people,' Ashoka alleged.
Accusing the state government of corruption, he added, 'If people want to build houses, they must pay bribes to the government.'
Ashoka also claimed that a change in the Chief Minister's post was 'imminent,' referring to Deputy CM DK Shivakumar's 'unfavourable horoscope.' 'Shivakumar lacks natural luck and may try to seize power by force,' he said.
He also criticised the Home Department, comparing its new social media regulations to Indira Gandhi's Emergency-era press censorship. 'Journalists criticising the government may be jailed,' he warned.
Ashok, who missed a BJP committee meeting led by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, said the party is working to resolve district-level issues. 'BJP has effectively opposed the government, but unity is needed for the party to shine,' he said. (ANI)

In a post on social media X, the BJP Sikkim unit wrote, 'The BJP Sikkim unit vehemently denounces the outrageous and ignorant statement made by INC leader Ajoy Kumar, who shockingly referred to Sikkim as a 'neighbouring country' during his press conference at AICC headquarters today.' The party further in their post wrote that it was 'utterly deplorable' for a former IPS officer and Member of Parliament to display such an 'appalling disregard' for India's history and geography. The BJP condemned the remarks and, in its post, further wrote that Congress should 'educate' its leaders to prevent such disgraceful blunders. "Stepmotherly treatment": Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge slams Central government over pending relief funds to Himachal Pradesh
New Delhi [India], July 2 (ANI): Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday slammed the central government on the pending relief amount for Himachal Pradesh required during landslides and rainfall. In a post on social media X, Kharge wrote that the Himachal government had demanded a total relief package of Rs 9,000 crore. He further wrote that in 2023, the Congress had announced a total of Rs 4,500 crore to the state, while the Modi government only provided Rs 433 crore to the state, and called it a 'stepmotherly' treatment. 'Even before this year's rainfall, the Himachal government had demanded a total relief package of 9000 crore from the centre. In the 2023 tragedy, the Congress state government had released special assistance of 4500 crore, whereas the Modi government at the centre provided only 433 crore to the state,' he said 'Now, the Modi government has recently announced 2000 crore for 2023 in a hurry, and the BJP is busy taking credit for it, but the relief amount is still pending. This is the stepmotherly treatment of the BJP towards Himachal!! It is hoped that this time, instead of taking credit, the BJP will take action to provide help for the losses,' the post read. Kharge, in his post, demanded that the Central government release the pending disaster relief funds for Himachal Pradesh. He also expressed grief at the loss of lives in the state due to the heavy rainfall and landslides, stating that they were 'extremely distressing.' 'The news of loss of life and property due to heavy rainfall and landslides in Himachal Pradesh for the past several days is extremely distressing. The government and administration are engaged in relief and rescue operations on a war footing. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims.
