Lazy Jennie is back? BLACKPINK star stops dancing mid-performance during high-priced tour; fans call it a repeat of past concerts

Time of India15-07-2025
BLACKPINK made a grand return to the U.S. stage with their DEADLINE tour, opening with two sold-out nights at LA's SoFi Stadium. Over 100,000 fans gathered to witness the four-member powerhouse - Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa - deliver high-energy group stages and captivating solo performances, reigniting the group's global spotlight.
However, the excitement was quickly met with criticism. Fans have voiced growing concerns over the tour's steep ticket prices, with many calling them "unreachable." Complaints about overpriced concerts have followed BLACKPINK in the past, and this tour seems no different.
Adding fuel to the fire, YG Entertainment is under pressure for giving fans just a single reunion song instead of the full album many had hoped for. The company's handling of the group's comeback has left a section of the fandom feeling shortchanged.
To top it all off, the infamous "Lazy Jennie" discourse has made its return. A viral clip showing Jennie pausing mid-performance has sparked déjà vu among longtime fans, drawing comparisons to past tour controversies.
'Lazy Jennie' makes a return
Jennie has long been targeted for her so-called "lazy dancing" - criticism that followed her throughout her career and during BLACKPINK's BORN PINK world tour. Now, the accusations have resurfaced once again. During one of the DEADLINE tour performances in LA, Jennie was seen stopping mid-dance while the other three members continued. A video capturing the moment even shows Rosé appearing to ask her if something was wrong.

The clip quickly went viral, reaching beyond the K-pop fandom, with many online users questioning how fans are paying premium prices for what they've described as "mid-performances."
'JOJO, HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING?!'pic.twitter.com/X8q7a87oIZ
The concept of being over a decade into the music industry and still unable to perform on stage, so you resort to acting cool and nonchalant..it's actually wild. https://t.co/uKoKnMK6KL
https://t.co/Homk3Qb6En pic.twitter.com/wCxf8skpai
ok but on a serious note.. how did she even debut? It's honestly embarrassing to call yourself an idol when you can't deliver a single ounce of energy on stage. like, stage presence is the bare minimum if you can't handle that, what are you doing here? https://t.co/FofEKLq16U
BLINKs, however, were quick to defend Jennie. They claimed she was simply staying professional while fixing her in-ear monitor, which had come loose during the song. Supportive fans even shared footage showing Jennie adjusting the wire.
Jennie fixing her monitor on stage* https://t.co/E9BhhykKDw pic.twitter.com/9a5qJtPE9S
She was clearly having issues with her in-ear monitor and paused briefly to fix it. It's laughable how people try to dramatize it when she absolutely crushed her performances last night.pic.twitter.com/UOola1er97
jennie was obviously fixing her IEMs and that wasn't even the first time she had issues with her IEMs. yall just be hating on anything when she clearly devoured every stages last night and got every attendees hyped 😭 leave her alone. pic.twitter.com/Krh0441SpX https://t.co/GA2rAgw3lz
god forbid jennie paused to fix her mic she was signaling to the staff and even when she nodded you can barely hear her still and she kept adjusting it throughout the set yet she still managed to sing loud and clear https://t.co/ystIBAhQpI pic.twitter.com/rQxbPtSIsG
Still, the incident sparked debate. Some questioned why such issues seem to happen repeatedly with Jennie. During the group's South Korea leg, a similar moment stirred controversy when her shoelace came undone mid-show - an incident that spiraled into backlash after she was accused of being rude to a staff member helping her.
using the excuse of "her IEM wasn't working" for the lack of stage presence and laziness. yeah, pack it up. This is what having trouble with an IEM actually looks like and how to professionally handle it. 🤷‍♀️ https://t.co/RGmG4rxuqX pic.twitter.com/aZyGATz9DQ
Jihyo was fixing her mic while performing, and her dance was still perfectly in sync that's the difference between a truly passionate artist and a lazy fool https://t.co/693vRTn4v9 pic.twitter.com/bg4Ac3w9d6
blinks excuses used to be believable 💔Wdym your fave has been in the industry for 10 years and still can't be professional and just stop dancing (to a very easy choreography too) and you call her a professional?Other idols continue dancing why can't her?pic.twitter.com/2SqzgyOji3 https://t.co/tlsiiZtqDr

BTS-Themed Rakhis Hit Indian Market And Desi Fans Are Loving It

Last Updated: BTS group has never visited India, but they still enjoy a fan following of millions in the country. BTS might have never stepped in India, but that doesn't mean they don't have ardent fans here. The country is among the top ones when it comes to streaming their songs and solo projects. If anything, the K-pop supergroup has a fan following of millions in India. So much so that their presence is felt everywhere, even without BTS ever setting foot here. From school notebooks to soft toys, key chains, and whatnot, you name it, and you will definitely find some unofficial merchandise with their faces on it. The latest item to join the craze is a BTS-themed rakhi for the upcoming festival of Rakshabandhan. A fan in Hyderabad recently discovered a store selling rakhis featuring motifs of RJ, a cute alpaca character created by Jin for the BT21 brand. These cute rakhis were likely priced between Rs 10 and Rs 15, making them perfectly affordable for everyone. dudee we got rj rakhis Fans React To Rakhis With RJ's Face In no time, ARMYs took note of the viral post and started sharing how they might buy such rakhis to wear as bracelets, while another section also discussed BTS' popularity in India. 'Mereko rakhi pehna do (tie this rakhi to me). I promise I'll protect you," said one user. Another added, 'I'm not even a Hindu, but WELL GIVE IT TO ME IMMA KEEP IT AS A GIFT." A different fan mischievously commented, 'I will buy it if it's available in my area in the name of my brother for myself." Is BTS Coming To India? Ever since the BTS members – RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook – completed their military services, fans eagerly waited for the announcement of their new project. And they did not disappoint. They not only announced a brand-new album, scheduled for release between March and May 2026, but BTS also spoke about their highly anticipated world tour. With this announcement, and the launch of HYBE India by September or October of this year, the buzz surrounding their shows has intensified. There is a possibility that BTS might organise shows in India as part of their world tour, but nothing is confirmed as of now. Right now, the seven members are in the US, working on their upcoming album. In the meantime, there is a possibility of solo projects from the septet in the coming months. Also, they made their return to the music scene, as a unit, after three years with the live album, Permission to Dance On Stage- Live, which was released on July 18. BTS Jin's solo concert journey: From sold-out Japan shows to his global arena dreams

BTS's eldest member Kim Seokjin has been creating absolute magic across Japan with his solo tour, and the response has been overwhelming. Jin kicked off his first-ever solo concert tour '#RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR' on June 28th, and what followed was nothing short of legendary. After his domestic Korean shows, he headed to Japan and completely dominated expectations in Chiba and Osaka with back-to-back performances that had the entire industry talking. But here's where it gets really wild - at Osaka's Kyocera Dome, they opened sections that are usually kept closed for even major acts. We're talking about the 8th floor top seats and even restricted view areas. And guess what? Every single seat was packed with screaming fans. To put this in perspective, even full BTS concerts at this venue kept those areas closed, making Jin's solo achievement absolutely unprecedented in the K-pop industry. Japanese Media Goes Crazy Over His Performance You know you've truly made it when Japanese newspapers can't stop talking about you. All five major Japanese sports dailies - Sports Nippon, Daily Sports, Nikkan Sports, Sports Hochi, and Sankei Sports - featured Jin's concerts on their front pages for two consecutive days. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Why Mr. Chirag Jain never exits a trade in loss — even when he's wrong TradeWise Learn More Undo Jin's vocal prowess was the real showstopper, though. For a full two hours, he commanded the stage with nothing but his voice and stage presence, seamlessly transitioning between explosive high notes and smooth low tones. The live performance left not just fans but industry professionals absolutely mesmerized - something we rarely see even with our most celebrated playback singers when they perform live. Global Tour Madness Riding high on his Japanese success, Jin is now set to conquer America and Europe in what's shaping up to be one of the most ambitious solo tours by any Asian artist. The US leg kicks off in Anaheim, followed by Dallas, Tampa, and Newark - four major cities that are about to witness K-pop history unfold. But the real crown jewel? London's O2 Arena, where Jin will become the first K-pop solo artist ever to perform. That's right - he's breaking barriers that even established Western artists struggle with. The moment tickets went live, they sold out globally, leaving thousands of fans desperately requesting encore shows. The European leg doesn't stop there. Jin will hit nine cities including Amsterdam in the Netherlands, delivering a total of 18 massive performances across continents. Speaking of Amsterdam, there's even a live viewing event scheduled for August 10th at 3 AM Korean time, with ticket sales beginning July 24th. Fans are literally willing to wake up at ungodly hours just to experience his performance virtually - that's the kind of devotion we usually reserve for cricket World Cup finals or major festival celebrations. A Cultural Bridge That Resonates Universally What's fascinating about Jin's success is how it mirrors the global appeal of artistic talent transcending language barriers. The fact that his concerts are selling out across different continents shows the power of authentic talent, regardless of where it originates. Jin's journey from being part of the world's biggest boy band to establishing himself as a formidable solo artist reflects the same determination and artistic evolution we celebrate in our own entertainment industry. It's proof that when you have genuine talent and connect with your audience authentically, magic happens on any stage, anywhere in the world.

Former K-pop star Jo Min-ah overcomes divorce struggles - Here's what she's doing now

You know how sometimes life throws you the most unexpected curveballs? Well, Jo Min-ah's story is exactly that kind of plot twist that would make even the most dramatic K-drama seem ordinary. The former Jewelry group member has just achieved something pretty incredible - becoming the top insurance agent at DB Insurance, earning her 11th "DB Queen" title. On July 20th, Jo Min-ah took to social media to share her achievement, posting photos of herself receiving an award at what looks like a pretty fancy corporate event. Behind her, you can spot a presentation screen reading "June 2025 DB Best Gold, Blue, Queen" - and yes, that "DB Queen" title is basically the company's way of recognizing their absolute best insurance agents. The Journey That Nobody Saw Coming Here's where it gets really interesting and quite inspiring. Jo Min-ah started her entertainment journey way back in 1995 as a child actress, then joined the girl group Jewelry in 2002, staying with them until 2005. For those unfamiliar with second-generation K-pop, Jewelry was quite the deal back in the day. But life had different plans. In 2020, she married a non-celebrity and had a son. However, by December 2022, she had finalised her divorce proceedings and found herself as a single mother, raising her son alone. Now, if you're thinking this sounds like a typical "single mom struggles" narrative, think again - because this is where Jo Min-ah absolutely flipped the script. Breaking Barriers in Corporate Success Former K-pop star lectures on sales know-how as the number one insurance seller nationwide What's absolutely mind-blowing about this whole situation is how Jo Min-ah has transformed what could have been a devastating personal setback into professional triumph. In her social media post, she expressed gratitude to "all the people who always support me and the customers who trust me and stay with me," adding that she will "live like Harang (her son's name), doing my best". The fact that she's achieved this level of success in the insurance industry - which, let's be honest, isn't exactly known for being the most glamorous career transition from entertainment - speaks volumes about her determination and business acumen. This isn't just about making ends meet; this is about excelling in an entirely different field.
