IPPTAR Plays Role In Shaping Gen Z As Ethical Communicators

Barnama23-06-2025
GENERAL
KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 (Bernama) – The Tun Abdul Razak Broadcasting and Information Institute (IPPTAR) plays a key role in shaping the new generation—referred to as Gen Z—to become ethical communicators, said its Director, Roslan Ariffin.
He said that in pursuit of this goal, emphasis and guidance on communication ethics must be nurtured from an early stage in tandem with the advancement of digital technology, so that the voices of the new generation become a positive force in communication.
'Today's generation is incredibly fast—everything is fast, speech is fast, WhatsApp is fast—and their voices and ways of connecting transcend boundaries… so we need to give them proper guidance and emphasis, with the hope that they communicate ethically.
'This also aligns with the theme of IPPTAR's Open Day celebration tomorrow, which is 'Suara Generasi, Kuasa Komunikasi (Voice of the Generation, Power of Communication),' he said when appearing as a guest on BERNAMA TV's Ruang Bicara programme tonight.
Commenting further, Roslan said that IPPTAR Open Day, now in its second year, serves as a platform to attract young people to come and learn more about the institute.
'The content we have prepared is largely aimed at drawing in this group, most of whom today aspire to be influencers—but to become influencers, they must first be good communicators.
'By getting to know IPPTAR, they may one day come to regard it with affection and pride as an institution that educates and trains them in the world of communication,' he said.
He added that in facing the latest technologies, including the explosion of artificial intelligence (AI), IPPTAR continues to progress and evolve to become a leading training institution in the field of communication to meet current needs.
In conjunction with IPPTAR Open Day 2025 tomorrow, the public will have the opportunity to explore and understand AI technology and its significance to the media and broadcasting industry, in addition to participating in various engaging activities.

Onn Hafiz: JS-SEZ will anchor Johor's economic expansion and urbanisation

KLUANG: The development of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) is expected to benefit not only areas surrounding Johor Baru but also all 10 districts in the state, said Johor Chief Minister Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi. He said the initiative would lead to the emergence of more satellite towns, ensuring that no district is left behind in terms of infrastructure and progress. In addition to driving economic growth, JS-SEZ would also serve as a catalyst for the tourism sector, positioning Johor as a major destination, he noted. The state government, he said, would seize the opportunity to promote attractions throughout Johor in conjunction with the upcoming Visit Johor Year. "Bit by bit, areas surrounding JS-SEZ are beginning to experience the spillover effects of development. For example, the areas of Simpang Renggam and Renggam in Kluang are already seeing its impact. This progress will gradually expand to other districts. "If Seremban is known as a satellite city to the Klang Valley, we expect Kluang to become one of the main satellite cities as a result of the JS-SEZ development," he said at the launch of the Majestic Johor x Renggam Fiesta at Tunku Mahkota Ismail Youth Centre (TMIYC) Renggam today. The JS-SEZ covers major development zones such as Iskandar Malaysia, Forest City, the Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex, and Desaru, with a total land area of approximately 357,128 hectares. The Iskandar Malaysia region also includes strategic areas such as Johor Bahru City Centre, Iskandar Puteri, Tanjung Pelepas–Tanjung Bin, Pasir Gudang, Senai–Skudai, and Sedenak. Further commenting, Onn Hafiz said that rapid development in the transport sector would also support connections between districts and the JS-SEZ, including the Johor Baru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link Project and the Gemas–Johor Baru Double Track Electrified Project. "All these projects will enhance connectivity between Johor's districts and the key areas within the JS-SEZ, and the development will be carried out in phases," he added. - BERNAMA

BUSINESS From Arul Rajoo Duran Raj RIO DE JANEIRO, July 6 (Bernama) -- The government is committed to strengthening Malaysia's aviation industry ecosystem and is ready to assist investors towards that. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this will be achieved through investor-friendly policies, the development of local talent, and high-impact technology collaboration. He stated that this aligns with the aspiration of making Malaysia a leading aerospace hub in the ASEAN region, with a highly skilled workforce and a strong, competitive industrial ecosystem. He said this in a statement after holding a meeting with the president and CEO of Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer, Francisco Gomes Neto, here today. The meeting was held to discuss strategic investment opportunities in Malaysia, said Anwar, who is in town for the BRICS Leaders' Summit. Regarding the meeting, Anwar, who is also finance minister, said discussions touched on Embraer's potential investment in Malaysia, including collaborations with Malaysian airlines. "I emphasised the MADANI Government's commitment to strengthening the aviation industry ecosystem," he added. Malaysia also welcomes Embraer's involvement in the development of maintenance centres, pilot training, supply chains, and low-carbon aircraft innovation, in line with the MADANI Economy framework and the National Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030. Anwar said he also appreciated Embraer's interest in enhancing cooperation in the defence sector, which could improve the air mobility capabilities of the Malaysian Armed Forces. "The government is committed to ensuring that all forms of cooperation are translated into high-value job opportunities, technology transfer, and inclusive economic growth for the people of Malaysia," he added. A global aerospace company headquartered in Brazil, Embraer has businesses in commercial and executive aviation, defence and security, and agricultural aviation.
